Winslow: Partially Rusticated Bent Billiard with Bamboo (E)

Product Number: 002-036-1819

I'm always drawn to Poul Winslow pipes that display a darker color palette and this bent Billiard rendition is up there with some of my favorites. This example is also a notable one as it's the first bent Billiard we've seen from the carver to be accented with bamboo. It's a relatively lean take on the shape in terms of overall proportions; however, it makes up for it with the plump-based bowl up front. Near the transition, some subtle cheeking is visible and flows perfectly to the two trim, dark knuckles of bamboo, terminating at an ever-so-slightly downturned stem. The dark, rich contrast stain showcases the bowl's exquisite grain and complements the jet-black rim and rugged rustication along the base and fore.
