Winslow: 2019 Rusticated Pipe of the Year with Silver (038)

Product Number: 002-036-1968

A Cherrywood shape almost always presents a rugged, natural character, and that disposition is emphasized here by Poul Winslow with a paneled bowl textured by brawny rustication. That texture does nothing to dissuade the crisp bowl lines from demarcating the eight vertical panels rising up to meet the softly domed rim, which, like the heel, is smooth and laden with birdseye. A gently sloping transition joins the demure curve of the shank, which leads to a bright, sterling silver band separating the flat saddle bit from the stummel. A forward-inclined piece with impressive implied momentum, it's a solid sitter as well as an individually numbered piece in Winslow's 2019 Pipe of the Year series, which celebrates 50 years of pipemaking experience and smoker appreciation.
