Winslow: 2019 Rusticated Pipe of the Year with Silver (041)
Product Number: 002-036-1971
Fifty years ago, Poul Winslow launched his pipemaking career in the shop of Preben Holm, becoming the famous pipemaker's chief assistant until Holm retired in his 20s for health reasons. That's when Winslow launched his own workshop, from which have emerged countless creative and flourishing designs like the Cherrywood offered here. It's part of the Danish carver's 2019 Pipe of the Year series, marking 50 years of experience for Winslow and presenting a sleek, forward-inclined Cherrywood. The piece is a solid Sitter, as one would expect of the shape, with eight crisp panels around the bowl, each terminating at the smooth heel and gently rounded, smooth, domed rim. A restrained bend in the shank rises gently to introduce the bright, sterling silver accent band, and joins the stylized, saddle mouthpiece. A practical and sturdy piece, this Pipe of the Year well represents Poul's decades of experience making some of the most creative smoking instruments on the Danish stage.
