Winslow: Smooth Bent Apple with Silver (B)
Product Number: 002-036-1979
Though this bent Apple isn't one of Poul Winslow's more flourishing, Freehand-inspired pieces, it exemplifies the carver's Danish style, showcasing Winslow's classic shaping, stem work, and finishing skill. This piece displays a strong degree of forward momentum, the line of the bowl urging forward from out of the lithely bent shank and stem. The plump bowl features a handsome array of grain underneath a smoky contrast stain — having earned it Poul's "B" grade, behind only his "A" and "Private Collection" stamps.
