Winslow: Smooth Bent Billiard with Bocote (D)

Product Number: 002-036-1989

A tightly compressed and muscular Billiard, this stolid composition from Poul Winslow is under five inches in length, but its proportions are bold and rugged. The bowl is stained in a smoky, dark hue that particularly highlights the grain rising up the bowl to the stylized plateau rim, which is curved toward the fore for an impression of forward cant. The shank is particularly meaty, and in a softly squared orientation that expands toward the stem. Where that stem meets the shank is a rounded section of bocote, a decorative, South American and Mexican wood with tight grain, often used for pens, knife handles, and any feature a woodworker chooses to highlight with its beautiful grain.
