Winslow: Crown Smooth Belge (200)

Product Number: 002-036-2087

Similar to the Cutty shape, minus the heel spur, the Belge dates back hundreds of years to when pipes were crafted entirely from clay. These shapes were often rendered in long, willowy proportions and have since become known as "tavern pipes" due to their prevalence in bars and pubs centuries ago. It's a form we rarely see from Poul Winslow, but here the Danish artisan has delivered a charming rendition that highlights his deft ability at crafting traditional shapes. It's strongly reminiscent of the Devil Anse, featuring a strongly canted, Egg-like bowl on the end of an arrow straight shank and stem combination. Though it's a rather streamlined, straightforward design, one of Winslow's signature contrast stains showcases the briar's natural grain beautifully.
