Winslow: Partially Rusticated Bent Dublin (E)

Product Number: 002-036-2136

A reassuringly large Dublin from the workshop of Poul Winslow, this partially rusticated piece features a bowl of smooth, contrast stained vertical grain contrasting against the dark texture of the shank and heel. The rim is gently scalloped, following the natural undulation of the briar, and the bowl is oval-shaped, most notable from an aerial perspective. A ridgeline ascends the bowl from the heel up to the rim along the left side, crossing both rusticated and smooth briar for expansive tactile interest. Poul Winslow's 50+ years of carving experience is recognizable in such a composition as this, expressing avid projection of techniques that combine for a particularly enticing smoking instrument.
