A stunning straight Apple from Danish pipe maker Poul Winslow, this pipe displays the affable plumpness of the shape but defines it with precisely carved concave facets that produce a bit of a spiral as they climb the bowl. This sort of shaping is incredibly time intensive and quite difficult to pull off so well; I am mesmerized by this piece. Tendrils of flame grain race upwards with the bespoke carving, made unmissable by a vibrant contrast stain, and a intricate silver band crowns the shank end with elegance — the accent rusticated for visual intrigue. A colorful acrylic cap adorns the shank face, giving way to a narrower amber-hued tapered acrylic stem. A fine champion of the Danish carver's many decades in the industry, this pipe will enhance any collection.
