Sleek and streamlined, especially compared to some of Poul Winslow's more organically shaped pieces, this Apple pairs a pert, rounded bowl to an arrow-straight shank-and-stem arrangement for a crisp, modest appearance in profile. The lightweight nature of the pipe makes it a delight to hold in hand, with the rounded features of the bowl nicely accommodating wrapping fingers. Winslow has finished this piece in a warm, contrast-stained smooth finish that nicely highlights the natural grain orientation of the briar. Topped by a slender saddle stem of jet-black acrylic and accented by a band of sterling silver, this pipe is stylishly presented and visually arresting.
