This bent Billiard from Wojtek Pastuch calls to mind both the English and Danish school in its overall shaping — following a deep, almost swan neck S-curve from rim to bit, while also offering a taller, cheekier, plumper style of bowl. While those stylistic cues certainly make for a striking silhouette in profile, what's perhaps most impressive about this piece is simply its finish; Pastuch has taken advantage of the extra height of the bowl to showcase some absolutely stunning stacks of ring grain, well-defined concentric rings which he's brought out through a craggy, almost Tanshell-like sandblast. Through his innovative shaping cues and impressive finishing techniques, Wojtek's really knocked this one out of the park, proving that even a classic shape needn't be traditional.
