Wojtek Pastuch: Partially Sandblasted Bent Dublin (0903)
Product Number: 002-811-0040
Much like a previous bent Dublin we received from Wojtek Pastuch, this rendition is a whimsical interpretation of the timeless form with plenty of character. The tall, flaring bowl displays a remarkable amount of forward cant and presents a sweeping Horn-like form in silhouette. The shank's elegant curve coupled with the softly downturned saddle stem put even more visual emphasis on the bowl and rightfully so as it offers much to be appreciated. For me, the one aspect about this pipe I can't get enough of is the bowl's incredibly deep, craggy sandblast. It immediately calls to mind those rugged, detailed blasts readily associated with carvers like Michael Parks and J.T. Cooke. Rippling stacks of wavy grain cascade down the bowl, providing so much texture that even the most discerning sandblast devotee will be thoroughly pleased with it. The rounded rim has been left smooth and stained an alluring auburn hue, complemented beautifully by the red and black tones of the cumberland mouthpiece.- Jeffery Sitts
