Wojtek Pastuch: Smooth Natural Dragon Seahorse (0923) Tobacco Pipe

The Dragon Seahorse from Wojtek Pastuch is a shape unrepresented in my own collection, and probably yours, but here's a chance for us both to consider it. Obviously appealing to those of us who appreciate innovative design, there's also an artistic expression here that is remarkable. While I do not see a seahorse or a dragon in this composition, I can definitely feel the connection to those mythical beasts. The tentacle-like heel does bring to mind sea anemones and fish-like creatures. However, this is a pipe, and as such, we're still impressed. That tri-tentacled heel could rest against one's chin while smoking for weightless in-jaw comfort. The beauty of the briar is beyond question, lightly stained to reveal the immaculate grain orientation that highlights birdseye along the top and bottom, while strands of fine, angel hair grain ripple down the flanks. This is a museum piece, and could be the centerpiece of any collection.
