Wojtek Pastuch: Sandblasted Dublin with Warthog Tusk (0937)
Product Number: 002-811-0052
Similar to the pencil-shanked designs we've seen in the past from Wojtek Pastuch, this Dublin from the Polish carver is graceful, trim, and highly creative. The tall bowl is dramatically canted forward, flaring in traditional Dublin fashion and finished in one of Pastuch's signature rugged sandblasts. A mesmerizing array of wavy ring grain climbs the bowl before meeting the smooth, gently inflated rim which features some lovely birdseye patterns across its surface. The shank has been extended by a warthog tusk accent, its creamy hue offering some tasteful contrast between the stummel's warm tan stain and the jet-black vulcanite mouthpiece. While the shaping and finish on this piece is certainly impressive, Pastuch has also ensured it's a practical pipe, having lined the shank with durable carbon fiber which attaches to the ever-so-slightly downturned stem in a reverse tenon configuration.- Jeffery Sitts
