Wojtek Pastuch: Sandblasted Dublin (1011)
Product Number: 002-811-0060
From dramatic finishes and striking accent materials to stylized renditions of classic shapes and wildly creative Freehands, Wojtek Pastuch's pipes are impressive and stunning, not adhering to any specific style and, instead, representing a class all their own. This Dublin lies on the more conservative end of the Polish carver's shaping spectrum but still features Pastuch's artistic touch, separating it from classic Dublin renditions. While the bowl is traditional in its upward flare, it sits on the end of an elongated, paneled shank, combining the defining characteristics of the Dublin, Foursquare, and Lovat shapes for a spectacular and unique hybrid design. As such, it sits sturdily upright while also being incredibly lightweight at only 18 grams, and the crisp lines of the shank are juxtaposed against the bowl's conical roundness and softly inflated rim. Said rim has been finished smooth and stained a deep Bruyere hue to contrast against the dark-stained stummel, which bears Wojtek's recognizable sandblast: It prioritizes extra-craggy texture, and dense grooves ripple up the bowl for maximum appreciation of the briar's natural grain pattern.-Truett Smith
