While the smooth bent Apple Xu Hai sent our way has this one beat on stoutness, this sandblast I would say has the lead in terms of sheer playfulness. It is a very chubby Apple, yes, but that chubbiness makes up only one half of its aesthetic, the other half being a playfulness defined by the buoyancy of the bowl's posture, the lively and somehow even light lift of the very thick shank, and the dashing little turn of the thin saddle bit. It is a bundle of briar, rendered in such a way as to strongly and successfully suggest a bundle of energy.
