Yang Kun: Smooth Bent Dublin with Bamboo and Olivewood (Signature) (2241) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-905-0007
Formerly a makeup artist for films and television, Chinese artisan Yang Kun became enamored with pipes when a friend loaned him a book about Sixten Ivarsson and soon began carving himself. Kun went on to study the artisan Hongjian Qiu to deepen his understanding of shaping and engineering. Danish influence in Kun's style remains strong, but he's developed his own unique aesthetic over time. This bent Dublin is an example of Yang's finest work, stamped with his superlative Signature grade. The conical bowl features a scalloped, flowing rim and flat heel paired to an upturned bamboo shank, accented with olivewood and fitted to a seafoam-green vulcanite stem. Dressed in a light blonde stain, the stummel boasts excellent and rare straight grain around the bowl, with copious swirling birdseye at the rim and heel.
