Yang Kun: Sandblasted Bent Dublin with Mammoth (246) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-905-0020
Marrying Danish pipe making aesthetics with his own artistic embellishments, Yang Kun crafts captivating designs that show his engineering prowess and keen eye for grain. Kun's portfolio is populated with shapes that possess a playful approach to line and curve, with this bent Dublin being one such composition. A Nosewarmer design, this piece measures less than five inches long but retains a muscular build, offering ample substance in an otherwise tight-knit package. Up front, a stocky, full-bodied bowl stands atop a gently lifted heel and grows thick, insulating walls that flare to a broad rim. Said bowl is paired to an ovoid shank that flares upward to meet a demurely curved saddle stem at a junction marked by a bright band of mammoth. This accent lends a touch of vibrancy to the rest of the pipe's muted palette, its gradual expansion additionally drawing the eye to the reserved mouthpiece. Dressing this piece is a crisp, dark sandblast that highlights rippling growth rings across the bowl's flanks.
