Yuwei: Partially Sandblasted Bent Apple

Product Number: 002-842-0010

Riffing off of a Tsuge Ikebana shape by Ohi, Yuwei Huang offers this bent Apple. Like Ohi's, this piece accentuates the shank via a raised transition and cinched orientation in profile, the shank flaring outward toward the stem. The bowl is affably round, almost spherical, yet in a more organic manner, as if it were shaped from clay, the texture of the sandblast contributing further to this natural theme. The concave rim echoes the curve of the shank, the end of which features an undulating panel about the edge, the face and facet lightly stained and kept smooth to accent against the stummel. Fitted with a mount-style tenon, the stem aligns well with the composition, as the saddle portion is canted to match with the shank face.
