Yuwei: Sandblasted Acorn with Bamboo and Rosewood Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-842-0011
Taiwanese carver Yuwei Huang leans heavily into the Danish pipe making tradition with this Ivarsson-inspired Acorn design. The bowl itself is affably rounded and upright, tapering downward into a pointed heel spur. Out back, however, the form takes a dynamic approach as the bamboo shank extension flicks upward from out of the transition before being balanced out by the stem's downward turn. The fluidity of the shank and stem contrast against the bowl's more upright posture, lending the profile a strong degree of momentum that, then, shoots upward toward the rounded rim. Dressed in a well-textured sandblast, the bowl is delightful in hand, with the innermost section of the rim chamfered and smoothly-stained to contrast. An impressive display of craftsmanship and beautiful aesthetics, the three knuckles of bamboo are married deftly to the briar and are accented by dark nodes to seal the material, matching with the jet-black stem, the vulcanite and bamboo separated by a handsome ring of accenting rosewood.
