Yuwei: Smooth Bent Dublin with Bamboo and Spalted Maple Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-842-0019

Taiwanese pipe maker Yuwei Huang here presents a highly stylized Dublin with bamboo, spalted maple, and a craggy plateau rim. There's a lot happening in this composition, with plenty of contrast of material and texture in its different elements. Most prominent, perhaps, is the shank, which is comprised of an expanding length of bamboo with five tight rows of knuckles, terminated at the stem side with a further expansion of spalted maple. That maple accent is echoed in shaping by a single expansion ring in the mouthpiece before that mouthpiece reduces to flat saddle configuration. The bowl rises from the soft transition to a naturalesque and broad rim of knobby plateau, stained dark for visual contrast. An organic rendition with multiple natural materials elevating the whole, it's a remarkable piece of craftsmanship for the discerning collector.
