Yuwei: Smooth Bent Dublin with Bamboo Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-842-0060
Yuwei Huang is an artisan pipe maker based in Taiwan. He crafts a wide array of pipe shapes, favoring eccentric Freehand designs along with traditional Danish and Japanese designs that showcase gestural profiles.
This bent Dublin by Yuwei features a robust bowl that stands proudly upright, flaring from a supple heel to a crisp ridgeline that frames the tapered rim and inner chamfer. Furthermore, the wall flares most dramatically at the fore, arcing outward and upward to a sharp, lifted peak, accentuating the elliptical shape of the bowl and rim. On the aft, a low-set transition barely cinches down to the shank before it meets a gnarly piece of bamboo, which presents a sinuous, rising curve. The bamboo terminates at a subtle piece of blonde-hued hardwood, which provides additionally durability for the pressure-style mortise and metal tenon. Additionally, the bowl is dressed in a chestnut smooth finish, highlighting fetching strokes of cross grain and whorls of tightly-packed birdseye, imbuing the composition with a bevy of visual intrigue.
