Cornell & Diehl - Smokingpipes 20th Anniversary Blend: XX Flake 2oz
*Really* Good
Shockingly good VaOrPer. Creamy, fruity, exotic. Perfect burn, perfect balance. Make more blends at this level guys, you're getting a *very* loyal customer from me with these Small Batch/Limited releases. Keep focusing on ultra high quality unique stuff. Great great blend.

Seattle Pipe Club - Mississippi River Rum Barrel Aged 2oz
Good
Well, they aren’t fooling around with the rum. Which certainly isn’t a bad thing. Very light on the lat, as to be expected, feels and tastes much more like a VaOrPer with rum, which I like. A lot. Not sure the premium pricing is warranted, but that’s just me. A nice change of pace and something to keep a tin or two on hand of. Benefits from drying and breath smoking. Lots of flavor to be unlocked with good technique and I expect this to age rather well.

Cornell & Diehl - Smokingpipes 20th Anniversary Blend: XX Flake Dark 2oz
Good
Well, the perique may be 18 years old, but the VAs certainly aren’t. Nor is it even remotely a flake. An extremely broken flake verging onto a thick ribbon would be the closest one could get to a flake designation. However. Looking past the youthful VA which will be fine in a year or two, I think this is a really rather good blend. The perique is fantastic. The reds are what one would expect from a literal 6 day old tin. But the flavor bones are there for a cinnamon spice, vanilla from the stoved, with deep intense fruit from the perique. Every confidence this is going to be a champion with some age and it’s rather nice ultra fresh. Good work on this blend guys.

Cornell & Diehl - Sunday Picnic 2oz
Great
A lovely blend that checks a lot of boxes for me in the VaOrPer genre. The spice from the orientals blends rather nicely with the fruity tones of the perique. The VA supports the two beautifully with an earthy haylike butter sweetness and a bit of a honey note. There's a dimension of incense to this blend which some may find rather enjoyable and others may not be much of a fan of. But it's very clearly present to me and I enjoy it. But I guess that's part of the deal with VaOrs.

G. L. Pease - Union Square 2oz
Great
Overall I’m really impressed with this blend. Even with the youthful edge C&D production has until they get a few years under their belt, this is highly enjoyable. Sweet cream mixes with the red spice which, as is the usual with C&D reds, presents with a light cinnamon note which compliments the blend as a whole. There are hints of hay and a spritz of citrus that play around in the background, but primarily it’s the creamy cinnamon sugar. The repeatability of this blend is very high; I’ve been smoking essentially nothing else since I received my tin, multiple bowls a day. No fatigue to be found. A generally cool smoking blend which takes a light well and burns, without fail, to the heel.

Peter Stokkebye - PS403 Luxury Bullseye Flake
Gold Standard "Bulk"
Love this stuff. A cellar staple for sure. Beats the pants off of every other coin, especially once you let it get a year or two in the jar.

Cornell & Diehl - Innsmouth 2oz
Wanted to Love it...
But I just didn't I think it needs some *much* more time in the tin. Probably a buy now and smoke in 2-3 years. Not unsmokable, but I'm going to pause on buying more until I can try the jar again in a year.

Fantastic
Sweet, presentation is amazing, subtle and divine. Worth the money.

Issues
Well, I have a mixed review here. The taste was amazing. The burn was amazing. Room note? Amazing. What wasn't so amazing? The full bilateral arm rash that *something* in this blend caused. It was the damndest thing, smoked a full bowl and by the end of it I was up the creek. Waited 5 days for it to disappear completely and, just to verify it was the tobacco smoked about a 10th of a bowl and waited ten minutes. A much smaller rash came back. Clearly I personally have an allergy to something in this blend and it is not a total product failure (please do not think I am implying anything like that). But, it was significant enough for me to mention in case others have issues.

Dunhill - Flake 50g
Fantastic
I can see why this is a reference blend. Sweet, perfect flakes, honey and citrus. Really exceptional.

Cult - Embassy 50g
Great
Lovely and smooth, burns clean and down to a fine white ash. Not overly topped. I greatly enjoy the ‘aromatic english’ aspect as a bridge between two of my great loves. Good room note and unoffensive to surrounding folks. No bite and I relatively fast cadence. High marks, worth a shot to see if it works for you too.
