Sutliff - SPS-17 Lavish English
Good flavor!
Caveat: I’m not much of an aromatic smoker, I’m very prone to tongue bite. Very good quality tobacco, excellent tin note and enjoyable to smoke!

Kramer's - New Mix 50g
New Mix
I’m slowly making my way through Kramer’s, I started with Fr. Dempsey and loved it. I don’t love New Mix as much, but it’s still a good blend! This reminds me of a quality Va/Per but just with some Latakia and Orientals in there as a seasoning. Lots of perique.

Cornell & Diehl - Pirate Kake 2oz
Simple
Beauty in simplicity! Kinda surprised how much I enjoy this considering it lacks virginia, but it is tasty! Far from complex but this is very much enjoyable. This blend makes me realize how much virginias in any amount affect my palate, I can smoke back to back bowls of this no issue whatsoever!

Drucquer & Sons - Casbah 100g
WOAH
Wow! Some blends I try a few times and say “hmmm, okay, I’d buy more and stick it in the cellar.” Not Casbah. For cake tins I usually put at least one in a mason jar for future consumption. Not this one. Both cakes are in my “smoke now” inventory! So very delicious. This is one of those smokes that leaves a sweet aftertaste. I usually have a pipe before bed and this blend makes me excited to get to bed so I can get to my next evening pipe the following day. Surprised I don’t see Casbah more highly touted, this is a true GEM.

Rattray's - Highland Targe 100g
Sleeper
Jarred this one up for a few weeks and it made a world of difference. Another linchpin English to add the rotation! Wonderful! Thank you Rattray’s! Definitely a sleeper tobacco. Some other brands and blends get more buzz, this one deserves to be talked about much more. Classic english excellence.

G. L. Pease - Horizons Flake 2oz
Does it again
Surprise, surprise - Mr. Pease strikes again. Gave it a shot puff after popping the tin and was a little overwhelmed. Put it in a hinged mason jar for a week, then gave it another shot. Wow, big difference, really settled it down. Very well balanced, as always! Broken flake, equal parts sweet and spicy with the latakia provides the background music. Well done Mr. Pease.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Balkan Mixture
Wonderfully delicious
Pleasantly surprised! I have tried several GH blends in bulk and tinned, all have been pretty good thus far. This Balkan is way above average for a Balkan blend, definitely going to order some more! As others have noted, it’s kinda hard to believe that this blend only consists of Virginia, Latakia and Orientals. There is a 4th or 5th component or essence that completes this delightful Balkan Mixture! Update: This is hands down my new favorite english blend. Stocking up now, such a great product!

Captain Earle's - Private Stock 8oz
Pleasant and enjoyable
Captain Earle is batting 1.000 for me so far as I try each of his blends in turn. His private stock is well selected. A fair amount of complexity in this one but I can really focus and pick out the taste of each of the components with little effort. The format of a crumble plug is convenient as well. Pleasant surprise!

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Aniseed Twist
Ksarak meets Virginia. This is special.
I no longer drink, but an occasional beverage of mine was ksarak liquor. The first 1/3 of the bowl is the exact same aniseed taste, and that is a great thing! I wouldn’t even call this an aromatic. You can actually taste the flavor of the aniseed as if you were sipping on a glass of iced ksarak. As far as the smoking experience, this is a good one. After the 1/3 of the bowl the virginias take over and it shifts to the standard Gawith rope cut journey after that - which is fantastic all in itself. Truly a special experience. I will be stocking up on this! If you enjoy the rest of Gawith Hoggarth rope cuts, you will appreciate this one. And if you’re a ksarak lover, you will thoroughly enjoy the Aniseed Twist!

Kramer's - Father Dempsey 50g
Wish I could meet Fr. Dempsey
Tin dated 3/23 - it was a joy! The cut is very fluffy for a ribbon cut. Packs very well! I keep checking the contents, surprised only virginia, latakia and orientals make up this blend. It has a little bit of complexity to it. This is the kind of smoke that leaves a savory aftertaste on your palate. Reputation deserved for Father Dempsey! I’ll be sure to keep a few tins on hand! I had to update my review from 4.5 stars to 5. I can’t get enough of this stuff.

Stands & Pouches - Claudio Albieri Origami Keychain - Olive/Dark Brown
Nice to have
This stand works great for pipes with a higher center of gravity like churchwardens. In use, this is really more of a pipe-slipper than a stand, flexible but gives just enough stability to keep your pipe upright. Also when fully unfolded, makes for a great tobacco mat. If you can’t clinch your pipe, this will be difficult to use the tobacco mat after packing your pipe because it is a two-handed affair to fold it back up into the pipe-stand configuration.

Swiss-army knife of pipe stands

Stands & Pouches - Peterson Classic Combo 2 Pipe Tobacco Pouch
2 pipes is a crowd
I can fit 2 medium sized billiards in here, but barely. It’s a tight fit, but it’s a fit. If one of them is a little on the larger side or a funky shape, you can forget about it though. If you are partial to larger bowls, this probably won’t be a good choice. I would put the quality of materials as slightly above average, but it’s not like some of the Rattray’s bags even though the overall design is almost identical. Medium quality bag, mid range cost, right in line. Knocked off one star for the very tight fit. If you carry larger briars, this will be a 1 pipe bag for you. Pony up the extra bucks and go for one of the Rattray’s 2 pipe bags that are quite roomy.

Stands & Pouches - Smokingpipes Leather 2 Pipe Case with Pouch Grey
Flying economy still gets you there
Can’t beat this bag for the price. Plus it’s a rare non-black/brown finish. Nothing special about this bag except for the price point. Great cost effective option!

Stands & Pouches - Peterson Avoca 1 Pipe Combo
Will not fit all pipes
Virtually identical to the Rattray’s Black Knight 1 pipe bag. The inside is stitched to the general contours if a pipe, so you are limited to the variety of pipes that will fit in there. Not a dealbreaker but just something you should be conscious of before pulling the trigger. Good quality bag, nice leather. Almost identical in materials and design to Rattray’s bags, which is a very good thing. The avoca(do) shade to the leather is a nice unique touch as well. There are both cheaper and more expensive options, but this is a good quality bag at a reasonable price. It doesn’t do anything extra functionally but is just a little nicer.

Stands & Pouches - Rattray's 1 Pipe Bag Combo - Black Knight
Will not fit all pipes
The inside of this bag is stitched to the general contour of a pipe so you can forget about squeezing in your oddball shaped and sized pipes. Not a dealbreaker, but just be conscious of that before you buy. Rattray’s pipe bags are all pretty much share the same defining characteristic that make them special. Supple leather, practical and sharp accents. Lightweight. Very slick (in a good way). Non-obnoxious zippers that have backing along the side of the case to protect your pipe(s). There are more and less expensive pipe bags, but this one delivers that higher quality at a lower price point.

Stands & Pouches - Rattray's 2 Pipe Bag Combo - Black Knight
A true 2 pipe
There are lots of bags that claim to hold 2 pipes, but usually it’s true only by a stretch. This bag comfortably fits 2 medium size pipes or 1 very large bowl pipe. Rattray’s pipe bags are all pretty much share the same defining characteristic that make them special. Supple leather, practical and sharp accents. Lightweight. Very slick (in a good way). Non-obnoxious zippers that have backing along the side of the case to protect your pipe(s). Tampers & Tools - Rattray's Tamper - Thin Caber Thin Squares
Good tamper
If you want to pay a little more to match your Rattray’s lighter and pipe with a tamper, this is your solution. Good utilitarian tamper that looks pretty classy with the chrome and dark accents. The shaft might look knurled in the photos, but it’s only a slight texturing (not that it matters).

Tampers & Tools - AKB Meerschaum Tamper - Beehive
Alright
This is a nifty little meerschaum tamper. You need it only if you think you do. Really overpriced for what it is.

Stands & Pouches - Rattray's Pipe Stand - Flat Fred Chrome
High end
If you don’t want to stick with your super cheap pocket pipe stands that work perfectly fine, then this is the one for you. Super high quality, CNC’d components, super tight tolerances and fit. Also comes in a very nice leather sleeve for toting around.

Stands & Pouches - Rattray's 2 Pipe Case - The Crow
High value option
I was looking for a solution to pack my clay pipes for travel. I think this case will do the trick. It’s not a “hard” case by any means, but it has enough inherent rigidity to play the role sufficiently. I usually just keep 1 Clarin Canadian in there with a lighter and tamper and I’m all set. I think it would fit 2 Canadians in there without issue, but I would want to put a strip of leather between them to keep from rubbing. Not sexy leather like some other pipe bags but the value here is great and it’s a good design that is executed very well. Highly recommended for the price.

Lighters - Rattray's Pipe Lighter - Bel Chrome Satin
New Boy
I am a pretty big fan Rattray’s and most things produced with their name on it. The Rattray’s pipe lighter is one of best pipe lighters your money can buy and I have tried all the brands and models. I have had a lot of hits and misses in my quest for good pipe lighters. This lighter and the Old Boy are the only two that have been perfect right out of the box every single time, they are in a class of their own. The finish on this example is good. I would describe it as a satin finish, you can see the horizontal tool marks. Very impressive finish. I don’t notice any difference in fuel capacity between the Rattray’s and the old boy, but I haven’t researched the technical specs. Very easy to refill! No disassembly needed. The flame adjustment can be a little bipolar between peewee and flame thrower but it’s no biggie to just adjust the valve with your fingernail. Replacing the flint can require a little finesse so I wouldn’t advise doing it in the field, but is easy enough. I make sure to replace mine before taking it on a long trip. Flipping the cap open and lighting can be done in one swift motion, just like my Old Boy. Closing the cap also provides an authoritative “clack”. I have zero concerns or observations of this lighter opening accidentally. Dimensionally compared with a standard Zippo, it’s thinner, same width and about .25” taller. As a lighter, this is a very excellent one. Really hard for me to find any flaw from a design and in-hand-usage standpoint. After factoring in the price-point, this a no brainer.

It’s a mirror chrome finish over a knurled surface - the result is a very handsome lighter. My favorite rendition of the line. No matter the angle the light hits it, you get half bright reflection and muted dark reflection. So very cool. The chrome finish on these lighters is very durable as well. Mac Baren - HH Latakia Flake 1.75oz
HH FTW
It’s crazy how smoking this english reminds you that there are tobacco producers outside of the C&D family. It’s a refreshingly different english flake, and very well balanced. The flakes are thin and look almost like they were cut by a surgeon. Fold and stuff into a narrow tall chamber and enjoy!

Tampers & Tools - 8deco Tamper - Penner
Not enough stars
Here we go again, 8deco with a cool tamper. This one is off the charts. Very cool. I was immediately impressed by the high quality of materials and finish on what I thought would be a novelty item that I could continue happily smoking without. It IS a novelty, but man is this thing cool and just as practical of a pipe tool as the rest of 8deco’s tampers. For under $25, it’s an easy call if you want another cool tamper for your collection.

Tobacco Jars - Neerup Bamboo Tobacco Cutting Board
Neerup again!
Another well executed accessory from Neerup. $30 is a bit steep considering you are already getting along without it. But hey, if you want to support the cause for companies like Neerup making products for us pipe enthusiasts, than I suggest getting one. That’s why I did.

Missouri Meerschaum - American Patriot 1.5oz
Underrated!
Tried this on a whim, I don’t see very many english aromatics running around. Don’t look at the pouch and turn your nose up. This is a good quality and unique tobacco! Barely an aromatic, my experience is that I get the aroma in the beginning of the bowl and then it shifts to a more traditional english. Not sure if it ghosts as I have a dedicated cob for this one. At this price, it’s a must try. I will order more when I run out.

Tampers & Tools - Tsuge Tobacco Tin Opener
If you get robbed, at least you can still open your tins with this!
Tsuge makes some severely underrated pipe accessories. This one tin opener is right there among them. Does a coin work just as good? Yep. Can you put a coin on your keychain and does it make you smile when you look at and use it? Nope, but alas, I can only speak for myself.

Mac Baren - Stockton 100g
Better than arcade coins
This tobacco is VERY moist. I have not been able to find the right amount of drying time that results in a perfect smoke. It takes a longgg time to dry and when that moisture leaves it takes the 10/10 heavenly flavor along with it. I’ve given up trying to dry it perfectly and have just accepted the heat and tongue bite because the flavor is well worth it. Glad I grabbed a few tins of this when available. I will not open any more at least until the next production because this one has all the makings of taking well to some cellar time. Love this!

Tampers & Tools - Neerup Table Brush
Another Neerup staple
This is yet another Neerup accessory that once you acquire you will wonder why it took you so long to buy one. It has made my little smoking desk so much easier to keep clean. Handy and it screams of high quality.

Tobacco Jars - Neerup Leather Tobacco Mat
Neerup!
Value is off the charts! Once you start using this you will wonder why it took you so long without it. Thin and flexible, it’s smooth, easy to clean and folding it to collect the extra tobacco odds and ends makes cleanup a breeze. At $12, buy 2.

Missouri Meerschaum - The Diamondback with Sapphire Stem
Indisposable MM cob
Love the diamondback cob line from MM. Beautiful stem and I appreciate the unnatural finishing done on the cob and wooden stem.

Falcon - Classic Snifter Rusticated
Fly away
I have had bad experiences with other Falcon bowls, but this one has been working good for me thus far. I mostly use meerschaum bowls but this briar bowl has earned a home in my rotation. The bowl is extra important on Falcon pipes because there isn’t much real estate to comfortably hold the stem even for a short period of time. This bowl sits perfectly in the hand. While most Falcon bowls chambers are the exact same diameter, this bowl is relatively taller so you can pack more of your favorite leaf.

Falcon - Plymouth Smooth
Low briar quality
After only using twice, this bowl was showing signs of severe burnout and charring. Go with a meerschaum bowl on your Falcon and never look back.

Falcon - Twisted Stem Black
Underrated tobacconist companions
When I stumbled upon Falcon pipes a few months ago, I was colored surprised at how little attention they seemed to get in the pipe community. The Falcon system appealed to me as it would enable me to bring just one pipe stem and multiple bowls on extended trips without having to worry about giving my briars time to recover after a smoke. After doing exactly this several times over the past 6 months, I can report that this works GREAT. I have even been able to find some meerschaum bowls that take the experience up another level too! Maybe the one knock I can have is the filters might be less economical to stock up on, and due to the design you pretty much need to use a filter. Also cleaning the reservoir underneath is an additional task for good maintenance, but a touch of rubbing alcohol makes this easy. Overall, great design and pipe for how I use them! The chrome finish is durable and by far the best version. The other finishes look good in photos but appear a little cheap in person.

Tampers & Tools - 8deco Tamper - Kokka Deluxe Midnight Silver
8deco = 5stars
8deco tampers reach phenomenal value by delivering high quality tampers pipe tools at an unbeatable price. Very utilitarian with a great finish! This example reminds me more of tree bark than swirls. Very cool.

Tampers & Tools - 8deco Tamper - Classic Midnight Blue with Blue Swirl
8deco = 5stars
8deco tampers reach phenomenal value by delivering high quality tampers pipe tools at an unbeatable price. Very utilitarian with a great finish!

Missouri Meerschaum - Let Freedom Ring 2 Pipe Set (6mm)
Great deal!
I bought one set for myself and was surprised at what I was getting. 2 decent cobs for $25? I will be buying more to give as Christmas gifts this year in an attempt to coax some friends into the rewarding hobby of tobaccony.

Seattle Pipe Club - Plum Pudding 2oz
Average
If Bengal Slices didn’t have the top-note and had a little less flavor, this is what it would taste like. Considering the hype Plum Pudding gets, I was expecting a lot more. Disappointed, but this is still at least an average english. I don’t understand the price nor the reputation however.

Rattray's - Red Rapparee 50g
Above average english
An above average english blend. Probably one of the better Rattray’s english offerings. Will buy more tins and stick in the cellar. Can’t go wrong!

Rattray's - Exotic Passion 100g
Masculine Dessert
Not a big aromatic smoker, but I do have a small cob dedicated to this blend. Great if you’re in the mood but I choose smaller bowls of this because once my taste buds adjust it becomes less enjoyable. Still amazing in small doses for me. Leaves a good aftertaste and a nice aroma to my shirt!

Rattray's - Black Mallory 50g
Good blend!
Definitely reminds me of Slices without the anise. Love the play of the cavendish and latakia! Will buy more in the future

Tampers & Tools - Tobacco Pipe Wind Cap
Easy buy
At under $3, this is an easy choice. I use these wind caps all of the time. Mostly for packing a pipe for future enjoyment, and it works flawlessly for that. Also perfect for use as an actual windcap or when doing activities like fishing on a boat when you might accidentally tip your pipe in your hand. Keeps the ash and embers from causing a mess. Buy multiple and keep one in every pipe bag.

Tobacco Jars - Cornell & Diehl Olive Wood Tobacco Plate
C&D Swag
I’m surprised at how few nice little tobacco trays there are. This one does the trick. Small and light so you can stash it in a drawer when not using. Too small to cut your plugs or rub out some flakes or coins without making a mess however. But still a nice accessory to have! Thank you C&D!

Ashtrays - Pipe Ashtray - Italian Ceramic (2 Pipes)
Excellent
Beautiful pipe tray! Functional and holds the majority of my pipes usually with a little bit of balancing to ensure they don’t tip over. Looks great and works great. Easy to wash. Has survived many rainy and sunny days outside in Florida with zero effect on the finish, and the cork knocker is still securely glued down. Wish I knew who the manufacturer was so I could look them up to see their other offerings!

Tampers & Tools - Savinelli Pipe Dopp Kit
Great kit!
I bought this and converted it into my pipe maintenance toolbox. Plenty big to keep your reamers and other miscellaneous pipe tools. Quality tin!

Tampers & Tools - Savinelli Tamper - Oceano
Pair with your Oceano pipe
Makes a good match with your Oceano pipe! I bought this tamper just for this reason. That’s ultimately why I paid $20 for a small tamper without any additional utility. The resin is beautiful. I recommend Savinelli lower the price on these to sell the beautiful resin to non-Oceano owners and probably result in more demand for their Oceano pipes.

Stands & Pouches - Savinelli Cloth 1 Pipe Pouch - Dark Blue
Fits the bill
For the price, this is a good option. Works as a light use pipe bag. This might be best used if you want to store your Savinelli pipes in drawer in matching bag to stay organized. For $16, it is as advertised.

Filters & Adaptors - Savinelli 6mm Filters - Balsa(100 Pack)
6mm Balsa
These filters will work great when paired with your Missouri Meerschaum and Savinelli pipes. Great for absorbing a little bit of moisture but if your tobacco is too moist you will still be sipping juices. Great value

Low Country - Waccamaw 2oz
My Gateway Virginia
Prior to trying Waccamaw I was exclusively an english blend smoker. I gave this a try on a whim and scored. Nicely balanced and it highlighted the good qualities of a good Virginia flake for me. Thank you C&D for making my world of pipe tobacco a lot bigger!

Cornell & Diehl - Star of the East 2oz
Chameleon
I had various experiences while smoking all 2oz of this blend. All of them enjoyable. Sometimes I felt an “that was okay” and others it was a “holy hell, that was amazing, which tin was that again?” Like I said, always a good smoking experience. I can’t wait to try the flake cut version!

Filters & Adaptors - Savinelli 9mm Filters - Charcoal (100 Pack)
Sometimes tight
These filters do run on the tighter side in some pipes, but I assume that is due to the pipe drilling to be on the tighter side of 9mm. They work but you will have to gently press them in. I haven’t had a failure of the filter itself outside of some minor deformation. You will have to work just as hard to remove afterward as well. Really not that hard though, and only on some of your pipes. Overall a good product and I appreciate the cool tin they are packaged in!

Lighters - IM Corona Pipe Lighter - Old Boy Black and Chrome Engine Turned
The Standard for Pipe Lighters
Yep, this is the tried and true standard for all pipe lighters. I want to rate it less than 5 stars for the price, but I can’t - let me explain why. I have tried several other pipe lighters from other manufacturers, but this one has them ALL beat in almost every single way. Fuel capacity somehow is better even though the size of the lighter is among the smallest. Cleaning, changing the flint and refilling are all a breeze with no disassembly required. Adjusting the flame can be done with your fingernail. The finish on this chrome engine turned version is very durable. Out of the box the finish was very tactile, almost textured G10-like. Over time this has smoothed out slightly, but I like it either way. Super easy to use and the flame angle provides great control when holding over your pipe chamber. The tamper and pick are great in a pinch but I prefer something more deliberate if I can bring a dedicated Chacom or 8deco with me. And don’t lose that tamper, as it’s $25 to replace. In summary, 5 stars all the way around. If I had to pick one lighter to use for the rest of my life, it would be an Old Boy. Value is great as so far I get the impression that it will outlast my lifetime outside maybe some eventual internal maintenance.

Lighters - IM Corona Tamper - Old Boy Gold
Don’t lose your tamper
OEM identical replacement tamper for your Old Boy. But at $25, feels like a price gouge when you already paid +$100 for your lighter in the first place. Bottom line, don’t lose your tamper. But if you do, and you need/want to replace it, this is the price you pay.

Tampers & Tools - Tsuge Tamper - Leather Gazette Brown
Quality minimalism
High quality tamper for the minimalist. Remove the leather sleeve when tamping, otherwise you will blacken the beautiful leather. One star off for value, but still a good tool.

Tampers & Tools - Tsuge Reamer - Carbon 23mm
Practical, high value
Great price for reaming a specific chamber size range. Most reamers on the market now are the 3 dimensional variety but they don’t always work with some pipe chamber geometries. This 2-D style work great for my pipes that have a shallower angled chamber. You do need to exercise some caution when using to ensure you have even contact with the reamer across the full length otherwise you will take too much cake and expose bare briar. I actually like using these on my meerschaums as there is some feedback provided through holding the reamer in your hand. You can really feel the difference when you get that last bit of cake buildup off the meerschaum so you know exactly when to stop. Keep the reamer stationary in one hand and use the other hand to VERY slowly turn the pipe around. Doing it this way gives you more control and finesse than turning the t-handle. Great tool, and fantastic value at $8! Slam dunk, Tsuge.

Stands & Pouches - Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation Backpack Brown
Is this what you’re looking for?
I’ll tell you what this bag is good for to help you decide whether to buy it or not. Selling points: Aesthetically pleasing. High quality leather. Sturdy design. Magnetic snap closure. One-of-a-kind. Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation accessory quality (some of the best in my opinion/experience). Cool tobacco accessory specific features. Small laptop/tablet sleeve. High visibility interior makes searching through the main compartment a breeze. Limitations This was designed and executed to be a pipe smokers companion bag, and in regards to that it is fantastic. But this makes it somewhat limited in regards to doing more than that. The exterior pockets really do fit a round 2oz tin like a glove. But anything thicker than that is a challenge. This can be somewhat of an everyday kind of bag, but it’s not very good at it, nor do I think it was meant to be. The interior admin panel is pretty limited too, but you can put some small pens and standard size credit cards in there if you do that sort of thing, but again not very well. I use this bag as sort of my pipe stuff rucksack when traveling. Pipes, tobacco, accessories, etc. the laptop sleeve actually fits the 4th generation 4 pipe case perfectly. The main compartment can fill up quickly however. Outside of this use, I can put all of my small daily essentials in there with ease. Or a small book and small notebook for a trip to the pool or park. Honestly there are bags in my rotation that practically do what this bag does better, but it’s a cool bag so I use it when not forced to go with more practical options. This is why I knocked off 1 star considering the price point. But if you love 4th Gen. as I do and are cool with the limitations of this bag, I recommend you go for it!

Tampers & Tools - Tsuge Pipe Cap
Another Tsuge Essential
Tsuge needs more love for their pipe accessories. The pipe cap is another product of theirs that should be in every pipe smokers tool kit. Great design and executed very well. It has held up some pretty rigorous situations in my hands. The lanyard material is very unique and the retention feature is very slick! I also love how when you pull the cap off, it gives a very satisfying “POP”. Great job Tsuge! There are limitations to pipe chamber dimensions you need to be aware of that are not listed in the item description on here. Any chamber smaller than 17-18mm diameter will NOT work, I have tried. Larger (20mm+) diameter chambers are fine, but if that chamber is also shallow, you will basically fill half of your chamber with this cap. I wanted to knock half a star off for the price, but realistically this pipe cap is a novelty when you can improvise your own solution to capping your pipe.

Stands & Pouches - Savinelli Suede Pipe and Tobacco Bag - Brown
Svelte suede
This bag falls into the nice-to-have category for me. Good for daily use in low energy situations. The suede looks and feels great, and that is the price driver of what you are paying for. The suede is the primary material and has no rigidity to it whatsoever. This lends itself nicely to putting it in your jacket pocket and avoiding the extra bulk that sturdier bags provide. However, I do not recommend this bag if you intend to just throw it into a bag and go about your day. Great bag, just be conscious if what you plan to use it for.

Stands & Pouches - Smokingpipes Leather 2 Pipe Combo with Pipe Cleaner Sleeve Black & Red
$30 bargain
There are better pipe bags, but not at this price point. Yes I agree that there are definitely some design oversights built-in that previous reviews have mentioned. My particular example is that the main compartment zipper cannot zip all the way closed otherwise it gets off-track and is a major pain to fix. Easily overcome if I just remember to not zip it closed it all the way. I might try a more mechanical modification at some point to prevent that altogether. But anyways. Pretty much nothing about this bag from a quality standpoint will WOW you, but it’s still functionally high quality and very durable/rigid. Overall looks great as accented even though the leather leaves a some to be desired. This is a high value pipe bag that doesn’t break the bank. If you’re looking at this because of the price point, just go for it and live with the quirks, it’s still a great little bag.

Stands & Pouches - Peterson Avoca Pipe Cleaner Holder
Road trip essential
Essential to a pipe smoker embarking on a long road trip or extended travel. I am able to pack over 50 Zen hard bristle pipe cleaners in this case which allows me to keep my pipes maintained for almost 3 weeks even if choosing to smoke after breakfast, lunch and dinner! Looks great too and seems to be holding up just fine while being thrown around in my bags on various excursions. The cap is a good design and press-fits tightly, it has never come off accidentally in my bag nor do I have any concerns of it doing so. Well done, Peterson! Also works perfectly at home to just keep your everyday pipe cleaners handily accessible.

Stands & Pouches - 1790 English Tobacco Box German Silver with Eagle
High Class
Great little tin for what it is! Definitely not doing to maintain humidity levels, but if you’re just trying to stash some of your favorite blend to smoke in a few hours, it’s perfect. I consider $40 for this is actually great value, considering it is a truly unique item and should last my lifetime.

Filters & Adaptors - Tsuge 9mm Filter - Kulu Cool (Single)
Always have one in your kit
Simple to use. Easy to clean. Perfect to use with complex blends if you don’t want to alter the experience. But you will need to ensure your tobacco is a little bit on the drier side, otherwise you will be sipping juices. The aluminum stays cool and accelerates condensation as your smoke passes through. I always make sure to have one of these in my pipe bags just in case my filters get wet or if I have a 9mm drilled pipe but don’t want to use a media filter. I would love if they made this in a 6mm.

G. L. Pease - Quiet Nights 8oz
The One
So far, this has been the most consistently amazing (normal production) english blend I have ever tried. The tin note gives the impression of a Lat bomb, but it’s far from it. Every time I smoke it, some characteristic seems to stand out differently from before. Keeps me guessing. The hype is real for this one!

Peterson - Early Morning Pipe 50g
Sandy Delight
Every Sunday morning (weather permitting) I head out to watch the sun rise at the beach. This tin and a few cobs come with me. Great tobacco for such an occasion. Not distracting with complexity, but gives enough flavor to bring out the orange hues on the horizon a little more.

Ashton - Artisan's Blend 50g
Let it sit
This one needs to sit. I first tried it from a freshly opened tin and was a little overwhelmed by everything that was going on. Closed the tin and came back to it a few months later and it was one of the best english blend experiences of my life. Delicious.

A&C Petersen - Escudo Navy Deluxe 50g
The Standard
Definitely a staple in my rotation when I want a Va/Per. This was one of the first tobaccos I fell in love when I got back into pipe smoking a year ago. Can’t wait to see how it does with some age.

Drucquer & Sons - Levant Mixture 200g
Shades of Palmetto Balkan
The initial experience took me by surprise, but this is now a must have for my rotation. Drucquer & Sons strikes once again. It really reminds me of Palmetto Balkan with how well the latakia and orientals play balanced roles in this smokey play. Well done, Mr. Pease.

Clarin Clay - The Canadian One (Tobacco Clay)
The Clay Standard for Standard Clay
After being underwhelmed by the quality of a couple of other clay pipes from other companies, I saw Mr. Ireland using his Canadian One and decided to give it a try. All I can say is wow. When you handle this pipe, it inspires confidence. Thick walls, smooth shaping, has balanced heft. The texture on the Tobacco Clay version is thankfully grabby, not chalky. Why is this important? Combine these features and you have a pipe that you can gently hold with security when it gets hot. With a lighter chalky smooth pipe, I find myself squeezing it to ensure I don’t drop it. The harder you squeeze when it’s hot, the more heat transfers to your fingers, ouch. No such problem whatsoever on the Canadian One. Also comfortable to grasp by the stem, plenty of real estate. Quality is again at least a full notch above the other clays I have acquired to this point. Smooth draw and smoking characteristics are great and I can’t think of a knock in smoking function. Value is great at less than $60. Buy two and get free shipping. Done. You’re welcome.

Drew Estate - Deadwood Sweet Jane (10 Pack)
Deadwood kills it again
I love most of everything Deadwood puts together, and the little Sweet Jane is no outlier. Short and sweet. If you enjoy other Deadwood sticks, you will love these.

Samuel Gawith - 1792 Flake 50g
Cornerstone
This is amazing on so many levels. I typically smoke English blends but this blend really makes me want more. I learned my lessons though and don’t pack this too tight in the bowl. It is strong, but as long as you sip it is truly a delight! Bought more in bulk because I am excited to see how some cellar time on this one turns out!

Missouri Meerschaum - Cornell & Diehl Morganton Caroler LE 2023
A Notch Above
Of the many Missouri Meerschaum cobbs I have, I’ll have to say this one is a notch above in terms of value, even considering that MM is already high value. Sometimes, a cobb is a cobb. But this one is definitely special. If you’re even considering adding it to your collection, just go ahead and do it.

Kopp - Limited Edition: Flame 1919 (2024) 100g
Sneaky Good
Feel weird writing a review on a limited batch of tobacco, but this one is deserving. The mixed cuts of tobacco is interesting and the tin note is quite savory. Virginias are the star of the show, very high quality. I’m buying more tins and cellaring - I think this one will take very well to some age

Bengal Slices - Bengal Slices 1.75oz
Reputation deserved
As a relatively new pipe smoker, I have a strong tendency towards english blends. I had read and heard of Bengal Slices as one of the standards for a traditional english blend. After breaking the seal, the tin note was awesome. Definitely the orientals. The cakes seemed dry to me and I was concerned…but after smoking my first bowl, I am floored at how satisfying this blend is. This made me want to slow way down and really sip so I could savor every draw. This is now a staple in my rotation. Well done.

Cornell & Diehl - Palmetto Balkan 8oz
Special Blend of Balkan
Palmetto Balkan is a very special blend. If this wasn’t small batch, I would buy this in bulk and it would be my go-to. I initially bought the tin to take on my fishing trip to Canada, and it did not disappoint! Smoking several bowls of this every day for a week spoiled me. The 8 oz. tin comes stuffed to the rim with perfect ribbon tobacco and I barely put a dent in the thing. Fantastic. The aftertaste leaves me wanting more every time. But unfortunately I only bought one tin. Lesson learned, next time this small batch comes back around I will be buying as much as I can. Reading through the other reviews makes me scratch my head. If you’re hesitant to gamble on an 8 oz. tin, just go for it. You won’t regret it. And if you do, reach out to me and I will buy the rest of it off of you!

Cornell & Diehl - Super Balkan
Balkan!
Definitely one of my new go-to blends when I’m craving some latakia. Well done C&D!
