A Tragedy
It’s a tragedy Mac Baren sold to STG and it’s an even bigger tragedy how many blends they are killing off, this one being in my opinion the best bang for your buck in pipe tobacco, amazing stuff and one of my favorites not just because the price is right, it’s just a great blend. This blend and the Mac Baren spun cut blends are my all time favorites (Dark Twist, Roll Cake, Club Blend) along with their Burleys (Golden Extra, Symphony, Amphora) so unfortunately for me and many others these are very sad times, and this is one I will definitely miss. 5 STARS 🔥

This blend is awesome, the Red Virginia is more dominant early on but by the half way point the brandy fades some and the Burley ramps up, this is definitely sweet for a Burley blend. The brandy works well adding to and bringing out the dark fruit flavors from the Virginia and Perique, the Burley is nutty and earthy it is a fairly complex and unique blend. The cut says cube but it’s more of a pebblecut with some ribbon, super easy to pack and smokes nice and cool with no issue if you give it a good tamp before you get going. I don’t often dry my tobacco but I was curious with this blend so I dried it out for a couple hours and it became an entirely different animal. 5 STARS 🔥

I’m no expert on straight Virginias I’m usually a Burley, VaBur, Kentucky smoker I’ve tried many of the famous Virginia blends and although they were good smokes they were just to bland for me, the only straight Virginia that has stayed in my rotation is Mac Baren’s Virginia No. 1 but that has a little added honey (great stuff) as far as pure Virginias go this one is great, it’s very toasty and bready with a little bit of spice, if you like Virginia tobaccos give this one a try. 5 STARS 🔥

I love Burley and am a huge fan of Mac Baren blends, my initial thoughts on Symphony was that it was pretty good but kind of forgot about it for a while but recently decided to go back to it and I find myself reaching for it more and more it’s grown on me a lot, it’s spicier and creamier than Golden Extra which I’m also a big fan of. It’s just a really nice mellow all day Burley blend. 5 STARS 🔥

Mac Baren - Club Blend 3.5oz

This is a great smoke, tin note smells awesome like smokey ketchup, sweet but not as sweet as Dark Twist but has the maple sugar notes, a little spicier but not as much as Stockton or Roll Cake, it’s a well rounded all day blend and if you like the other Mac Baren spun cuts your going to like this, it’s becoming a favorite of mine and one I reach for often. 5 STARS 🔥

Amazing blend! Tin note smells awesome like smokey ketchup, sweet and spicy, toasty, salty, all day VaBur with lots of flavor and a touch of that Mac Baren honey, one of my favorite blends at the moment and might be one of the best hidden gems in pipe tobacco, highly recommend. 5 STARS 💎🔥

Peter Stokkebye - PS402 Luxury Twist Flake

A mellow easy straight Virginia that’s sweet, creamy, notes of caramel and sugar. The topping tastes natural and doesn’t overpower the tobacco, the flakes look amazing too. Bet it will age nice, very good smoke. 5 STARS 🔥

Amazing stuff! been around forever for a reason this is one of my old reliable blends that every time I smoke it I’m happy I did and never disappoints, a classic. 5 STARS 🔥

Mac Baren - Mixture Scottish Blend 3.5oz
The Sweet One
A smooth all day VaBur with a little something extra, I don’t smoke aromatics I guess anything with the slightest topping you could argue is an aro but the very mild natural tasting sweet topping on this works nicely and doesn’t overpower the tobaccos. Great stuff, highly recommend. 5 STARS 🔥

Savinelli - 145th Anniversary 2oz

Complex blend, perique and the fermented dark fired take the lead but all the tobaccos make themselves known and mesh well together. Bold, rich, lots of flavor a little spicy with notes of bbq, dark chocolate and a little coffee, very good stuff bet it will age nicely. 5 STARS 🔥

Solani - Silver Label - 660 100g
Sweet & Spicy
Almost never in stock and expensive but worth grabbing a tin if you can, Virginia forward but you can taste the Kentucky in every puff the slightly spicy Kentucky makes itself more known around the half way point, there’s some kind of subtle extra sweetness to this blend not sure if it’s added but it works nicely. 5 STARS 🔥

I smoke a lot of Burley and dark fired blends but I do like a straight Virginia from time to time, I’m a big fan of Mac Baren blends but hadn’t tried this one until recently and right away I was hooked it’s sweet and toasty with honey and brown sugar notes it’s an easy all day smoke and for me I haven’t found a straight Virginia I like more than this one, it deserves more hype. 5 STARS 🔥🔥 Update - It’s been about a month since I started smoking this and it is amazing, it has become one of my favorite blends at the moment, I highly recommend it.

Smooth, toasty, nutty, salty with a hint of cocoa and a touch of honey, great stuff! can’t ask for much more, one of my favorite Burleys. 5 STARS 🔥

Dark fired Kentucky and burley forward with just the right amount of perique spice blending in nicely. Sweet, smokey, earthy smells amazing like good bbq sauce, big fan. 5 STARS 🔥

Savinelli - Jupiter 2oz
Slow Ride
Burley forward with Kentucky in the background, the dark fired brings slightly sweet and spicy savory smokey bbq, it goes great with the nutty, earthy burleys. The rum is pretty strong but is a nice addition adding some sweetness. Very cool smoke doesn’t get hot even if you push it but you definitely get the most out of it if you take your time, awesome blend. 5 STARS 🔥

Very complex for a Virginia Oriental blend in a good way some sweetness and spice, refreshing like a half and half lemonade iced tea. I bet it will age nice too. 5 STARS 🔥
