Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Best Brown Flake #2
Perfect!
To me this a a perfect blend. With BBF2, GH&Co must be using their finest leaf. Only the natural flavors of burley and VA enhanced with a mild topping that only complements the natural tobacco taste. Nutty, with a dried fruit sweetness, hints of golden molasses or treacle come to mind. The flake is dark with specks crystals that sparkle when the light hits it just right. BBF2 is guaranteed to age well. If you love burley, you will like this blend. If you never got into burley VA blends, this may be your gateway blend. Solani aged burley flake is in the same wheel house if you are familiar with that. If I found a treasure chest loaded with gold, rubies, diamonds, and BBF2 was in there as well, It would not be out of place, nor would I wonder why it was there. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cornell & Diehl - Burley Ribbon Cut
If you like straight Burley
You’re going to appreciate C&D’s RC Burley. Unlike their Dark Burley and White Burley, this burley seems to have been cased enough (no toppings, add your own if you want) for straight smoking or for mixing without need for pH adjustments. Smooth, nutty, unflavored burley at its finest. No need to buy Pegasus or Haunted Bookshop any more. Simply add the VA’s of your choice, the cavendish or Perique, respectively, of your choice, and voila! Now you’re cooking with Kool-Aid! And that means gourmet cooking. Enjoy!

Five Brothers - Five Brothers 1.25oz
Perfect Burley
Perfect in flavor, mouth feel, cut, burn, and nicotine strength. Creamy, nutty, tobacco flavor with no toppings and no tongue bite. Good for blending with other shag cut tobacco’s, especially if you want to boost the others nicotine strength. If you like pure natural burley, you’ll like Five Brothers.

Peter Stokkebye - PS41 Cube Cut
Classic Fragrance and Taste
This is a classic pipe tobacco flavor profile that smokes cool. Both full bodied in flavor and smoke. The nicotine level is medium. Nutty, cocoa, brown sugar, and bread pastry flavors all the way through. At a slow pace this blend will encourage introspection and tranquility.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Kendal Dark
Kendal Dark = Dark Birdseye = Kendal Kentucky
According to the GH&Co sales representative, Kendal Dark, Kendal Kentucky, and Dark Birdseye are the same blends. Why is smoking pipes selling the same tobacco under different names? To avoid cognitive dissonance perhaps? Either way, if they run out of one, say DBE shag cut, you can get the shag or vintage cut from the other two listings. GH&Co is good about answering questions via email if you need to verify this.

Cornell & Diehl - Exclusive
Exclusive as a blender
The VA’s are pre saturated with Perique after being in a jar for several months making Exclusive a good on the spot blending option. For example, I mix in Dark and White Burley to make a blend that I appreciate as much as Haunted Bookshop. Or sometimes I will blend exclusive with Low Country VA, or any VA offering, for a more Perique subtle VA/Per. Exclusive is a great blend to have on hand for smoking straight or for the more experimentally minded pipe smoker.

Kramer's - Father Dempsey
Top End “English” Blend
If you like Balkan Supreme you will like Father Dempsey. It is different than BS but in a good way. Far better than any Sutliff “English” blends by a long shot. I bought 4 ounces for my first order and a pound a month later.

Samuel Gawith - 1792 Flake 8oz
Quintessential Blend
You have to at try 1792. It is such a classic flavor and the finest leaf available is used to create this blend. The topping is mildly sweet, enough to tie the blend of VA and DFK together. The tin note will take you back to over 200 years ago. The smoke is creamy, oak smokey, leathery, and there’s an earthy vanilla sweetness. The nicotine strength is medium/strong. The packaging is the plastic T.V. dinner tray type, so you will want to have some mason jars for storing.

Cornell & Diehl - Cube Cut Burley
There’s a Reason Why It Sells Out Quickly
Discriminately selected leaf is used for this burley offering. If you know, you know. It has not been flavored for you, you’ll have to add your own toppings if that’s your thing. I like it plain and use it to create VA/Bur blends. Unavailable most of the year but seems to show up right after a 20% off C&D bulk sale…. Then it’s gone.

Daughters & Ryan - Ryback 16oz
Pipe or Papers
Anyway you smoke this stuff, it’s good. Makes for a delicious ryo. Although I prefer it in a pipe. I like to add Three Sails to sweeten up the pot from time to time. The DFK adds a nice complexity. Somewhat of a floral note is occasionally detected.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Black Twist Sliced
It’s the Unique Flavor Profiles
That Make Black Twist a Staple! I’ve always smoked it straight but recently started using it in my blending projects using a press to make “Cakes”. It brings that Gawith Joo-joo to other more basic blending components. 5 stars!

Cornell & Diehl - Autumn Evening
Occasional Aromatic Smoker
I have few aromatics in my rotation, this is one of them. Maple in smoke form and the Red VA brings the bready notes of the pancake aspect for a very familiar and tasty experience.

Cornell & Diehl - White Burley
Didn’t impress me at first…
After sitting on a pound of this White and the Dark Burley for 2 years I came back to it and I am blown away by the robust flavors. I will be buying more. This is what C&D uses for their awesome Burley and VA blends so you don’t have to second guess getting some for smoking straight or making your own blends. Bravo!!!

Peter Stokkebye - PS403 Luxury Bullseye Flake
Yes, it’s good but…
It’s better jarred and left alone for years. It’s good fresh but just a year in the jar it’s better, 5+ years it’s sublime.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Dark Plug
Dark Flake in Plug Form
That’s right! Dark Plug and Dark Flake are the same blend. I like the plug best because how thick or thin you slice it makes a difference imo.

Low Country - Rum
Not For Glycol Candy 🍭 girls 👧
This is not the type of aro that tastes so much like something other than tobacco. Only Glycol can act as a carrier for that much candy. If you like soggy PG “candy bombs” this is not for you. If you want a flavored tobacco that still has some to... bacco flavor going on, this one is for you.

Cornell & Diehl - Strawberry Cavendish
Low Scores?
If people don’t like C&D Strawberry Cav as the review score seems to indicate, then why are they still making it? I’ll let you in on a secret: it’s an excellent cavendish to use for blending. You won’t taste strawberries when you… say… make a Balkan blend with it, but there will be that certain set apartness that will make it, unique. 😉

Cornell & Diehl - Dark Burley
Worthy Burley Worth a Try!
Nutty, mildly cream, and yes, like other reviewers say, cigar like qualities. It tastes excellent straight or… You can steer this Dark Burley any direction you want to by casing, toppings, or by blending flavors into it with flavored Cavendished tobaccos or whatever varietals you want, because this burley will shine. The results are stellar!

Sutliff - 515 RC-1
Ignore Negative Reviews
Yes when you open the bag or jar you get hit with Vinegar. You want that. Yes you need to cellar it for a few years. The stuff is amazing and they are not aging it for you that’s why it’s so affordable. Great for blending keeping in mind this stuff is in your Seattle Pipe club blends and all the other Sutliff Cake blends.

Daughters & Ryan - Windsail
Sweet Virginia!
Can’t claim I understand the mediocre “Overall Rating” here. Yes it’s young and fresh, of course it needs age, but it is tasty out of the bag. I’ve made many of magnificent VaPer blends using this stuff.

Cleaners & Cleaning Supplies - B. J. Long Regular Pipe Cleaners (100 pack)
Price is Great! 😃
They work just fine… yes they shed a bit but just a bit and the price is great. I use them to make dry filters for my Falcon’s as well.

Sutliff - Estate Blend
Excellent Codger Blend
It does not taste like Carter Hall tastes but you may find yourself craving it over CH from time to time. It’s that good and it holds its own against any codger blend available today.

Mixture No. 79 - Mixture No. 79 14oz
At Least Buy an Ounce
Love at first bowl for me. I’m an occasional aromatic smoker and this one superb. Not a goo per, lights well, and is kind to the mouth. The description here is dead on.

Peter Stokkebye - PS403 Luxury Bullseye Flake
No brainer!
You are getting a jewel at a bargain cuz it needs some undisturbed time in a mason jar for a minimum of 2 years preferably 5. However, it stands on its own as a VAPer fresh out of the bag.

Erinmore - Erinmore Mixture 100g
Never trust a review…
That says, “it burns my tongue.” Unless it is followed up with, “because I don’t know how to smoke it.” Yes that includes not knowing how to pack the bowl. If you fluff this stuff out it will get to much air and burn hot no matter how slow you smoke it. Fold, roll mildly in your palms, stuff. Take a small piece to rub out as kindling to get it started.

Erinmore - Erinmore Mixture 100g
Bad Reviews?
I do not know what is going on with these reviews. Bought a tin 6 months ago. Smoking it right now. Yes you have to smoke it at a particularly slow pace. So, my batch was fine. Juicy Fruit gum flavor? Yes! Do not rub this stuff out too ribbon, it will burn too hot.

Cornell & Diehl - Bayou Night
Perique Lovers!
Yes, just yes to everything about this blend. Even better when jarred for a year. Great fresh as well.

Daughters & Ryan - Windsail Silver
Great Quality
Mildly cased great for blending, smoking straight, or stuffing tubes. It’s a very steerable leaf for adding casing or topping for the home blender.

Cornell & Diehl - Red Virginia Ribbon
Quality Red VA
Yes I smoke it straight. And yes it’s great for blending. I make my own VaPers and this stuff is the key.

Cornell & Diehl - Bayou Morning
Perfect VaPer
Needs 6 months in a mason Jar at least. For a ringer Match just mix Low Country VA with C&D long cut Perique.

Low Country - Natural Virginia & Burley
Haunted Bookshop
That’s right! Just add some C&D ribbon cut Perique and you have a match for Haunted Bookshop. That is, if you get the ratio right. This stuff is great!

Cornell & Diehl - Autumn Evening 8oz
Bready VA’s Come Through!
It’s like French toast. I’m a straight VA VA/Per smoker who more often than not is smoking flakes or something else non-aro. I do get an itch for a non goooper aromatic. This is a good one. You can taste the bread red va as well as the maple. I pick up on some white pepper as well.

Missouri Meerschaum - Cobbit Shire
My Favorite Cob
I really like all of my cons but this one is special. Perfect size and look for me.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Bosun Cut Plug
Perfection!
Bosun’s cut plug handles like all top notch VA plug slices, sweet, malty, maple. Combined with the dark fire VA you have a smoky malty Lakeland powerhouse with plenty of vitamin N.

Cornell & Diehl - Bayou Night
Complex and Strong
It took me about a year of smoking Bayou Night to conclude that it will always be in my cellar and rotation.

Low Country - Natural Virginia
Shockingly Good
Wow! What flavor? What value? This bulk Virginia blend option is the best there is. Cased lightly enough, making it a good blender.

Sutliff - Match Sunrise
It was almost there…
Virginia forward. I added a half ounce of Latakia to 4 ounces. After 2 months in the jar it will give any English blend a run for their money.
