Sutliff - 19 Coconut Almond
I want to preface this review by saying that I am a relatively new pipe smoker, and that I don't have a particularly refined palate, so everything I say should be taken with a grain of salt. With that out of the way, I'm a huge fan of this offering by Sutliff. Of the six (yes, only six) aromatic tobaccos that I've sampled over the last few months, Coconut Almond is my favorite, hands down. The pouch note is absolutely delicious, though I don't detect any almond -which is fine- the coconut is definitely the star of the show. Unlike a lot of the other tobaccos I've tried, this one tastes just like it smells. The flavor is there, strong enough to satisfy yet not so strong that it overpowers, and it stays there throughout the smoke -I have not found this to be the case with some of the other blends I've experienced. It's worth noting that the coconut flavor and aroma feel very natural -not at all candied or chemically. Moisture seems good; the tobacco burns well, not requiring as many relights as I've come to expect, and it seems to smoke on the cooler side. It bites a bit when I get a little carried away, but I'd say it's rather mild, comparatively. I'm not sure what else to write; I'm in love with this blend and I'll definitely buy it again. Finally, I have found a blend I feel strongly about! If you're looking for coconut, this might be for you.
