Tampers & Tools - 8deco Tamper - Penner
Style meets purpose.
Very pleased with this tamper. It has a wonderful feel in the hand, and is conducive to fidgeting. The awl is long and reaches the bowl from the shank of all my Canadians. The foot is large and the "pen" has enough heft that no pressure is necessary for tamping embers. It's one drawback is the lack of a "beavertail"; 8deco's unique spoon is a great tool for cleaning and ember manipulation. It's a small complaint; it is in all aspects a stylish product. Right down to the 8s stamped on the tamper barrel.

Large reamer
This is a good overall reamer for large pipes. It does fall short when it comes to cleaning the bowl floor. The shank drill included on this tool works very well.

Excellent purchase.
Wonderful accent, the texture is warm and tactile with good grip. My first 8deco, I am very pleased with the overall design. The beavertail spoon is a great innovation allowing ember manipulation and light reaming with ease. The foot is well conceived and the vents permit adequate draw preventing the ember from being smothered. The foot circumference is large and shifting position in the bowl to get an even tamp is unnecessary. The pick/poker is long enough to clear the shank of my Lumberman and Canadian with ease with a flattened face that collects debris effectively. The tip is a blunt point that glides smoothly along bowl surfaces without scraping or scarring. I will definitely buy another of these in another style at some point.
