G. L. Pease - Montgomery 2oz
Crisp and Clean
Wow. Fresh out of tin, this is the coolest smoking Virginia I’ve had to date. Rumor has it that the tobacco is initially cased with honey, but I’m not getting any hint that this is close to an aromatic; there is nothing syrupy or goopy and the tobacco looks gorgeous. The flavor is crisp with a hint of Virginia citrus that gets more alive about a third of the way into the bowl. Mild and simple. I can’t get this to bite, even though it’s a Virginia. Burns down to a powdery ash with no sticky residue. It’s encouraging to read that it gets even better with age, but I will have a hard time leaving this - untouched - in the cellar long enough to find out.

Lighters - Kiribi Pipe Lighter - Kabuto Short Black Matte
Disposable
Worked great for half a year. Beautiful lighter too. Smooth. But, it just sort of gradually stops igniting; all spark and no flame. Across the internet, this is a common complaint with Kiribi lighters. I would buy a ‘Bic’ and put the money you saved into good tobacco instead.
How To Care For Your New Kiribi Lighter
  • ► Mine lasted about 4 pipes and then stopped igniting. It would spark, but no light. SP fixed it promptly under warranty. To this day, it still works, but that’s because I stopped using it for fear that the delicate thing would break again. So, I just use matches now; they rarely break and don’t need a warranty.
