Lighters - Kiribi Pipe Lighter - Kenshi Black Matte
Still Going Strong
I've had this lighter for 4 years now and it has stayed true to its brilliance. Lights every time, efficient on fuel, reliable.
Lighters - Kiribi Pipe Lighter - Kenshi Black Matte
Another Great Kiribi
The lighter is slender yet substantial. It feels really solid and the spring sets the flint affirmatively against the wheel. I've had it approximately 2 weeks and it has performed brilliantly. My 2nd Kiribi. This lighter, as is my other, is fantastic.
Lighters - Kiribi Pipe Lighter - Kabuto Silver Satin
Reliable, Excellent
This has been one of the best flint lighters i've ever had. Reliable, well built, as I've dropped it several times even bending some of the metal, and it still works. I also bought the small vile of kiribi flints for it. Fantastic lighter.
Lighters - Kiribi Pipe Lighter - Kabuto Short Black Nickel
Excellent
Great lighter for the price. I recenlty bought this because my xicar failed. It has remained reliable and the adjustment is easy.
Cornell & Diehl - Chenet's Cake 2oz
A New Fav
A very good complex blend. Tin note is leather, dark chocolate, and fruit. Taste is sweet and fruity and becomes spicy in the last half of the bowl. A very good blend. I love the crumble cake form. Only gave it 4 stars because mine is only 3 years old and not fully aged
Dan Tobacco - Treasures of Ireland: Limerick 50g
FlavorFULL
A very good flake. Good moisture content although a tad drying time is recommended. Tin note was sweet, fruity, leather and hay. Flavor was full and smoky, leather with a touch of sweetness. Maybe not an all day smoke but good nonetheless.
Tampers & Tools - Low Country Reamer
Great tool
Whether it's to fully ream a pipe or to clean up the sides of the bowl after a smoke, this tool is up to the task and performs exceptionally well. Very glad I bought it.
Dunhill - Navy Rolls 50g
Fantastic
I'm glad I bought multiple tins when I decided to try this blend. It is a tasty and smooth smoke. The va is more present than the perique in my opinion but it is a well balanced blend. Presentation is beautiful. Lights and burns very well. Will be a new addition to my rotation.
McClelland - Craftsbury: Frog Morton 50g
OverRated
I thought this blend was way overrated. It had behaved like an aromatic but was really weak and wet. It burned horribly even after letting it dry. I've stopped buying anything made by McClellan.
McClelland - Craftsbury: Virginia Woods 50g
Sweet and Woodsy
This is a good blend but acts like an aromatic. It was pretty moist in the tin so I let it dry for about an hour and it seems much better. It leaves a gunk in the pipe so I don't think i'll be ordering it again. It is sweet and tangy. It also has a body flavor and good aroma.
Ashton - Artisan's Blend 50g
smooth and creamy
This is a good english blend. It is complex but flavorful. Medium strength, good aroma. It is similar to Nightcap but I actually thought this had a better flavor. Sweet, spicy, smoky characteristics.
Sillem's - Councilor 1695 50g
Flavorful
This blend is a sweet starter with a subtle spice taking hold throughout. I felt it was a little more complex but still a really good blend. The tin note is a lemony grass note. This, in my opinion, is on par with Escudo. This one tasted cleaner.
Savinelli - Doblone d'Oro 100g
Burley Forward
I was surprised at this blend. It wouldnt be one of my regulars but its good nonetheless. The burley is forward with the kentucky and perique riding secondary and the virginias in the background adding a very subtle sweetness. Its a winner by Savinelli.
Dunhill - Durbar 50g
Smoky Goodness
This blend has a very smoky flavor to me. The latakia takes lead over the oriental in my opinion. It has a subtle spiciness to it and the aroma is very pleasant. It is similar to nightcap but I think this proves a little better.
McClelland - 2015 Virginia-Perique Flake
good stuff
This is a smooth blend. I took the broken flakes and cube cut them and it allowed the blend to smoke really well once its dried a little. It is a mild-medium smoke with good flavor, you get the tangy sweet, almost vinegar to start, virginias and then a mild spice from the perique. All in all, this is a good smoke worth a try for anyone who likes virginia or vaper blend.

Very good
This blend has a very complex flavor profile. It feels like it might be way too dry but its perfect out of the tin. The blend is full bodied with lots of flavor. It will bite if you smoke too fast so small sips bring out good flavors. Good stuff.
Samuel Gawith - St. James Flake 50g
Good
This blend was a good break from my normal routine smokes. The sweet va's interplay with the spicy perique rather nicely. Full bodied, yet simple and refined. Took some drying time. Good smoke and didn't taste dirty.
Dunhill - Three Year Matured 50g
failed expectations
this blend failed my expectations. it was very mild but still had some flavor. smoked more like an aro than a va. had some bite to it but overall just too mild for my preferance.
G. L. Pease - Cumberland 2oz
Great Blend
I found this to be a nice pleasant smoke. It has a lot of flavor and is complex yet refined enough for the inexperienced smoker. Smoke it slow and steady and see how much flavor this affords oneself. Great stuff.
Samuel Gawith - Full Virginia Flake 50g
good flake
I typically don't like flakes but this one is a good all day smoke or evening relaxer. It has a strong earthy flavor with some nuttiness. A lite sweetness throughout. The flake is very versatile to pack and easy to light and smokes cool. Worth a blend. The tin I was given was aged 4 yrs.
Samuel Gawith - Squadron Leader Special Edition with Perique 50g
Mild but tasty
The only criticism I have for this blend, as well as the existing squadron leader is that it is on the drowned rat side of wet. I had to let this dry for over 16 hrs before it smoked well. Mild flavors, sweet with a subtle spice. Latakia is very light in this blend.
Drew Estate - Meat Pie 50g
Good English
This is a good English. Smoky and slightly sweet with a spice that sits in the forefront. A very good all day english as its not quite as strong as nightcap. The aroma is a good smoky campfire note and the wife likes the room note. Worth a try.
Davidoff - English Mixture 50g
All Day Blend
This blend is a good mild all day type English. It has a subtle sweetness with a complimenting spice to it. The tin aroma is a smoky sweet and the blend is cut rather fine. It is easy to pack and lite, and keep lit. Good all day blend.
Tom Eltang - Mixture 2oz
Little to No Flavor
I received this blend as a sample but am disappointed with it. It has little to no flavor. I feel it is primarily a burley perique blend as the virginias are so background it produces an extremely subtle sweetness. The spice from the perique is most notable and the nuttiness of the burley is forefront. This blend is very mild, not bad, but really weak.
Tom Eltang - English 2oz
Mild, but Good
I received this tobacco as a sample. The aroma is a typical english, kind of a smoky bbq smell but very light. The char light reveals a smoky quality with floral backgrounds. The bowl burns easily enough and packs easily enough but the smoky flavor subsides and the blend becomes weak. It does not taste like high quality leaves were used, but its not terrible. It doesn't make rotation worthy for me because it is too weak.
Peter Stokkebye - PS403 Luxury Bullseye Flake
Good, but not Great
I have heard the tinned version is much better but we can only get the bulk in the states. The blend was good on aroma. Grassy earthy tones with a touch of sweetness. The charring light revealed hay and earth tones. The smoke was pretty consistent throughout with offering any complexity. The cavendish in the middle is subdued and doesn't add or takeaway from the blend. If anything it looks cool. Good, but not great.
James J. Fox - Campanile 50g
Stalemate
I have smoked this aged, as well as young and the results were close to the same. The tobacco has a musty aroma in the tin. The charring light revealed nothing special and the flavor was very mild at this point. The burn was easy but the tobacco is acrid and harsh. It did not taste good as it priduced a dirty note and you can taste that musty smell throughout the whole smoke. Stalemate.
Cornell & Diehl - Bayou Morning 2oz
Very Good
The tin note is a smoky chocolate with hints of raisin. The false light brings out a bitter sweet chocolate note. This is present throughout the bowl with a spicy black pepper addition beginning mid-bowl and to the end. The blend stays interesting throughout so it'd be great as an all day or morning, evening smoke. Left very little dottle and burned well. Lights and packs easy as well. Smoked this in a Savinelli Spring 614.
Sutliff - CD Blend 1.5oz
Top Dressing Blend
The tin note is a floral bouquet. The tobacco is in large cut pieces and was very hard to pack, like little rolls of leaf. The smoke note was disgusting as it was like packing a flower and smoking it. The virginias are not present, the latakia is very mild. It doesn't even taste like burley, just a top dressing. I felt like I was sipping a pipe filled with some top dressing, not a tobacco blend.
G. L. Pease - Telegraph Hill 2oz
Good Blend but Mild
I felt this was a rather mild blend. The tin note is an exsquisite sweet grassy raisin. The pack is easy enough and it lights easily. It requires a patient sipping of the pipe lest it burn hot. Even then when pushed the sweetness lingers. There is also a faint oliv oil note. he aroma from the pipe is pleasant and not too strong for those around. A good all around smoke. Worth a try.
CAO - Moontrance 50g
Pleasant
I've bought the cigar version of this and liked it, but thought I would try the pipe version since I am primarily a pipe smoker. I liked it better in this format. The flavor was more focused with hints of vanilla, good vanilla, and a suttle sweetness that lingered throughout. Burns and packs easy. Kind of wet, as are most aros. Good and pleasant. Try some.
Captain Black - Original 1.5oz
Not good
This blend taste like a chemical factory. It is no wonder when I first smoked this I wanted to quit all together. Fortunately there are greater blends on the market. OTC blends tend to taste like fertilizer to me and this one provides a sweet first few puffs then blast you with chemical burns to the mouth. Very wet, goopy, and gross.
Captain Black - Dark 1.5oz
Wet and Dirty
This blend, like most OTC blends, tends to be a rather harsh burn. It taste like a chemical burn on the tongue and produces a sweet couple puffs then taste like a fertilizer blended and sold as tobacco.
Mac Baren - Dark Twist 3.5oz
Pleasant
This blend is a pleasant enough smoke. I do not like the top dressing/casing/whatever you want to call it on this blend. It is a rum flavored topping which adds to the moisture. It lites and burns easy enough, but tends to taste dirty to me. It is worth a try, but not rotation worthy enough for me.
Cornell & Diehl - Briar Fox 2oz
Worth A Try
I received this blend from a friend and upon opening I found notes of sweet lemon grass. The crumble cake is a good format for this blend as its fun to pack, easy to lite, and east to keep lit. The notes are sweet grassy, natural tobacco flavors. The Virginia used in this blend feels and taste like a quality leaf. Good stuff, burns right to the bottom. Worth a Try!
Sutliff - Bosphorus Cruise 1.5oz
Orientals Forward
The tin note has a smoky semi-sweet spice to it. The Orientals are forward with the Virginias adding the sweetness to it. This is pronounced until the bottom half of the bowl. The latakia comes forward to blend with both orientals and virginias throughout the smoke but more so near the end. The result is a spicy oil, smoky sweet flavor with a heavier oily feel. It packs heavy and tends to tighten up. Burns easy enough. Smell off the pipe is pleasant with a hint of black tea. Room note is smoky, but kind of harsh so smoke with care with whose around.
Dunhill - My Mixture 965 50g
Scottish
This blend is a good blend but is more scottish than english. The latakia definitely comes through with a good smoky character. Lights and stays lit easily enough. Very flavorful. I recommend letting it sit a little bit. I didn't like it at first but jarred it and it got better.
Dunhill - London Mixture 50g
Clean and Cool
The tin note is a sweet note with some smokiness. The latakia in this blend does not overpower as I think the orientals are more forward giving it an incense and floral smoke. The virginias add the right amount of sweetness and backbone to this blend. Consistent from beginning to end of bowl. Smokes clean and cool. Not my top ten, but good none-the-less.
Dunhill - Nightcap 50g
Bold and Beautiful
This blend is like unto a bold cup of coffee. It produces notes of smoky coffee and wood. Campfire is the best description. The flavor is bold well into the smoke with the bottom 3rd mellowing out a bit. I'd give it 5 stars but the finish is weak. However, great blend!
Comoy's - Cask No.4 3.5oz
Cheap
This blend has a wonderful aroma while in the tin and while it burns, however, it taste like a dirty, cheap, tobacco. There are much better VaPers on the market which render this one useless. It might suit the taste of one who enjoys a dirtier tasting burned grass.
Dunhill - Flake 50g
Run of the Mill
This is a good quality flake but its average when compared to the many flakes out there. It has the sweet base of VA's with a slight lemony note throughout the bowl. It can tend to taste a little dirty towards the end with a little spice to it.
Three Nuns - Three Nuns 1.75oz
Some Nicer
This stuff is OK. The blend gives you a good tin note which is pleasant, pleasant room note, but an OK flavor. It is a dark campfire taste, not quite like an english but similar. The Va's give it a sweet base with the kentucky adding a dark nutty smoky flavor. Nice, but there are some nicer. Tends to have an ashy taste.
Dunhill - Elizabethan Mixture 50g
Excellent
The tin note is sweet with a nutty nuance. This ribbon cut is very fine so its very easy to pack. The charring lights reveal a sweet nutty overtone. The bowl extends its formal greeting once its underway with sweet spicy notes and an enticing smoky room note. The sweetness fades near the bottom 3rd and the spicy takes over. If you smoke to hot this blend can taste dirty at the end. Great tobacco! Great taste! My favorite VaPer so far.
A&C Petersen - Escudo Navy Deluxe 50g
Primo Cigarette
This tobacco had a slightly sweet ashy note as it burned. I smoked it in many different pipes and meerschaums. Still, it always tasted like a high quality cigarette. I thought it was nasty.
Tasting Notes: Peterson's Elizabethan Mixture- ► One of my favorite blends. I have about 30 in my cellar aging and 20 on hand to smoke. Thanks for the video.
