G. L. Pease - Triple Play 8oz
Stand by for the taste
Date on the container - 12/21 so this has been in my cellar for a couple of years. First puff - Perique announces its presence with no question. Followed by full bodied mellow mouth with peppery overtones. As a morning pipe it needs good strong coffee as a pair. Well worth the purchase.

Drucquer & Sons - Levant Mixture 100g
Well worth the wait
I let the first tin age for 2 years before opening. I still have one more on the shelf. I was expecting a pleasant smoke but that was an understatement. Smooth burning, rich taste, virtually no tongue bite, and a mellow but not over powering room note. Taste is gentle and mellow. This would pair wonderfully with cognac and a nice fireplace.

Not Impressed
I wanted to broaden my acquaintance with aromatics and this seemed to be a place to start. I can't highly recommend it. The tobacco is quite moist, hard to light and keep lit, has a good deal of tongue bite and a moderately pleasing aroma and room note. I bought two tins... I'll let one age for a while before I try it again.

Lives Up To Its Name
Purchased in 2017. Vacuum sealed and stored. Opened today and I am very happy with it. Texture is perfect, burns evenly and as slow as you like. I would say it mellowed a bit, not as sharp as when first purchased. Room note is very pleasant. Perique is there but not overpowering. Latakia and Burley give a nice round-out to flavor.

Cornell & Diehl - Carolina Red Flake 2oz
Trustworthy
Smooth and reliable smoke. I like it with morning coffee as I try to focus on writing. Mild taste, little to no bite, pleasant room note. Good all day smoke if desired.

Age makes it even better
Purchased in 2017. Vacuum sealed most of it, smoked some back then. Recorded a 4 of 5 rating then... I up it a bit now. Very mellow smoke. No noticeable tongue bite. Tastes pretty much like the other reviews state. Enjoyed morning smoke with coffee. Very relaxing.

Will reorder when back in stock
There's a reason, I suppose, for this product being "sold out." It is a very flavorful smoke, strong initial attack without very much downside on after taste. Good room note. Gets even better after a couple of years.

Worth ordering again
I just reordered this tobacco again. I had aged the previous purchase for 3 years before I smoked it. I thought it a very nice change of pace... mild taste, good burn and very pleasant room note.

Peter Stokkebye - PS80 Norwegian Blend
Very Nice Change of Pace
Smoking in rotation, this tobacco is a refreshing change in taste, texture and aroma. It doesn't have an "in your face" room note, rather just a pleasant (and imho, masculine) tinge to the atmosphere. Taste is about 3/5 as rated. Easily packed I watch out for over doing it. I think it needs to smoke slow or else a bit of a bite develops. Taste, to me, hints at straw. Good tobacco for the cellar and for enjoying over a couple of years or three.

Cornell & Diehl - We Three Kings 8oz
Great with Coffee
I agree with the write up above and the strength/ room note/ taste ratings. Very pleasant, spicy aroma on opening the tin, pleasing taste... packs well, little bite as the other reviewer stated. It seems to mellow even more as the months go by. Nice smoke and easily one you could smoke all day.

Cornell & Diehl - Autumn Evening
Delightful Smoke
I like the room note more than the 1 rating given in the description. To me this is just a nice, delightful smoke. Very nice rebreath and taste. Packs very well, burns cleanly and does not leave a mess in the bowl. I have smoked two bowls back to back, just to see, and though it doesn't smoke as cleanly at the end of the 2nd bowl, it's still better than other first bowl smokes. Well worth adding to the inventory.

Cornell & Diehl - Gillingham Mixture
A Bit Better
I appreciate the other review and see his point. I found this to be a bit better that's all. It has a very nice nose on first opening the container. (I store in Mason Jars) It comes across with some chocolate & almond (maybe?). No upfront bite at all and a pleasant rebreathe. True, the taste is not all that powerful but it goes well with a cup of coffee as a first bowl after b'fast. As mentioned, it packs nicely and burns smoothly. I would call it a pleasant smoke and just leave it at that.

Not for the faint hearted
Was expecting better taste. Faint aroma on opening container, does not really strike the senses. Initial taste is ok but progressively gets a bit bitter. By the end of the bowl there is a sharp tongue "burn" for lack of a better term. Pretty good company to a strong libation but nothing special. Perhaps will improve with aging. I am putting it away for about a year.

A comfortable friend
I smoke my tobacco stash in rotation as they age. When it's time to take up this tobacco again I am always a bit surprised at first. It stands in sharp contrast to other, more sturdy mixes. I would give it more than the two stars for taste above but there is no denying that it is a mild smoke.... but comfortable. It will remain a friend for a long time.

Mac Baren - 7 Seas Black 3.5oz
Comfortable, like an old pair of slippers
I bought 3 tins in 2016 with the intention of smoking 1 each year starting in 2017. So, my present smoking is after 18 months or so of storage. The most striking aspect of this tobacco is the first encounter when you open the cap. It has a very pleasant, almond chocolate (to me) nose. It sets the stage for the first bowl of the day. After that I find it to light easily. I have not encountered any extra wetness that a previous reader had. I stays lit for a slow bowl. Taste and strength are mild, about as the overall review rating suggest. I like the aroma... I would give it 3 stars rather than the 1 star room note shown on the site. Overall, I like the tobacco... I will add another couple of tins to replace this one and extend the collection to the next four years.

No Surprises, Good For Change of Pace
Soon as I opened the bag I knew what I was getting. The fresh mowed hay aroma proved true to the taste. Sharp opening taste (straw) and even smooth burning makes for a very pleasant change from other blends. Only downside, for me, was the after taste. Can't quite put my finger on it, but saliva tastes a bit sour.

Peterson - Special Reserve Limited Edition 2016 100g
Now my "go to" selection
I bought the 2015 version before it went discontinued. It comes very dry in the pouch and therefore smokes evenly and cleanly though aromatic. It is easy on the tongue, has a good nose, a mellow taste and a nice room. Fine smoke.

Pleasing Smoke
Ayax g. in his earlier review is entirely correct. This is a good smoke if not rushed. This is my first aromatic since becoming a serious pipe smoke four or five years ago. I stayed clear of them because of their reputation and I needed to become more adept. This proved to be a nice introduction. When the tin is first opened you must spend some time preparing the tobacco before loading the pipe. It must be a looser pack than normal English blends and care must be taken in subsequent tamping. At the first hint of bite, slow down. The bowl smokes clean down to white ash, very little bite and the rebreathing is very enjoyable. Bottom line, if you have time for a leisurely smoke where you can pay attention to the bowl, this tobacco is very pleasant.

Base line tobacco for me
I have been experimenting with mixing my own blends for about a year. Ever once in a while I have to step away and smoke a commercial mix and this one is pretty much my base-line. I like a gentle smoke with a light aroma which burns smoothly but not real hot. This tobacco comes close to what I am attempting to blend and helps me remember where I am headed. Good price and well worth it.

Sutliff - Golden Extra
Pretty much what I wanted
I purchased this to evaluate for a base in blending. It is generally what i expected. A very mild, lightly flavored smoke with excellent burning properties. It already has a touch of Virginia added so I intend to build on it with Turkish and then see where to go from there. It is easily smoked alone as a quiet smoke while you are engaged in reading or other such activities and not primarily focused on your pipe. It will take me a while to use up the amount I purchased but I have no doubt that I will purchase more in the future.
