Cornell & Diehl - Cube Cut Burley
ALWAYS OUT OF STOCK!
Eight ounces of this burley and one ounce of C & D Granulated Perique make up my favorite all day smoke now. The two seem to compliment each other perfectly. 11/29/18 Update: It sucks that this stuff is out of stock so frequently. I've had to start buying elsewhere. 1/3/2020 Update: You’d think that with as popular as this item is, it would be in stock constantly. It’s not. I rarely find this stuff here anymore. Absolutely frustrating. I like buying from Smokingpipes.com, but I’m done making this my first stop.

Cornell & Diehl - Big 'n' Burley
Stellar Burley Blend
Normally I smoke C&D Crowley's Best, but because my driving partner is sensitive to latakia, I had to look for something a bit lighter in that department. This is the one I discovered. Really, there isn't a lot of anything but burley here...LOTS of burley. It is strong and flavorful. Very good alternative to my normal blend.

Tabac De La Semois - Le Petit Robin 100g
Exceptional
I love burleys, and this, while not a burley in the truest sense of the word, is absolutely exquisite. Light and refreshing, but still very satisfying. It's a very fine shag cut, so you have to pack it very tight otherwise it shrinks to nothing when you put a flame to it; think cotton candy when you put it on your tongue. Flavor is not exactly burley-ish. It seems like burley is in the background to something else that I can't put my finger on. I love this stuff though, and I'll always keep it around.

Cornell & Diehl - Burley Flake #3 2oz
Nice Burley Flake
This is a nice smoking burley blend, in my opinion. Not as good as the #1 flake, but perfectly acceptable. I did learn from previous experience that the C&D burley flakes rub out and smoke much better after a significant dry out period, otherwise it can become a stringy mess. I will always have some form of C&D Burley Flake in my rotation.

McClelland - Ashton Revival: Old Dog 50g
God I Miss This Blend
This is a Latakia blend that I've smoked for a long, long time. In fact, I think this was my first Latakia blend. It seems to be the a perfectly balanced blend, with all of the components working very well together. Between this and Dan's Old Ironsides, I think my Latakia cravings could be comfortably assauaged.

Erinmore - Erinmore Flake 50g
A Classic
This, like Dunhill Royal Yacht, is a polarizing tobacco. You either love it or hate it. I love it. First, if you're looking for a sweet aromatic, move along because this isn't it. Erinmore Flake is strong in the nic department, and has lots of fruity flavor to go along with it's Virgina component. It's not something that you light up to keep everyone in the room happy though. My friends say it smells like fruity cigarettes, whatever that means. Still, it's a good, powerful smoke that is both interesting and pleasant. Word of caution though: it ghosts like crazy, so don't use it in a treasured Virginia pipe. Use a cob or something you don't mind devoting to it exclusively. Enjoy.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Dark Plug
Enjoy Getting Hit In The Face?
Jeez Louise...put on your big boy pants before tackling this one. Flavor is very full tobacco, and the nic hit is immediate. I smoke very strong cigars frequently, as well as GH&Co twist, so I'm no stranger to potent tobacco. This is whole new ballgame, however. And yes, of course I'll be reordering.

Cornell & Diehl - Crooner
A Pleasant Smoke
I am in the middle of my first pipeload of this burley blend, and it's pretty tasty. A little on the sweet side because of the deer tongue, but not like a full blown aromatic. It tastes kind of like mint minus the cooling sensation. I gravity loaded the bowl and tamped lightly after the char. It has burned like a champ. I can see myself smoking this on a regular basis, though it will never replace my favorites. Give it a shot if you're looking for something out of the ordinary. Oh, and burned nice and clean to the bottom of the bowl. Be careful though. This stuff could cause ghosting problems. Use it in a cob or other disposable pipe until you decide whether you like it or not.

Esoterica - Dorchester 2oz
It's A Sin
It's a sin that this, and all the other Esoterica blends are so hard to come by. I just burned through my last tin of this one, so it's back to Golden Slices. I'll miss this smoke though. Great VaPer, with the emphasis on the VA. If you can find it, try it. It's nice.

Tampers & Tools - 8deco Legend Tamper Black with Smoke Swirl
Great Tool
I bought this on a whim to go with my Corona Old Boy lighter. It has proven to be a great investment. It is a little too big for my cobs, but it works great for all my briars. Highly recommended.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Rum Twist
Delicious
This rum twist is delicious stuff. I bought some a while back and forgot about it, then rediscovered it late last night. Lots of good tobacco flavors, but I only sense rum flavor on the initial hit. Nicotine level is high, so beware. I'll be enjoying a lot of this with Guinness Export, as Robert L. suggests.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Kendal Gold
Great light smoke
I enjoy this stuff during the day throughout the warmer months. It's light and refreshing, and smokes great in my MM and Old Dominion cobs. It isn't particularly complex, but the hay and tea notes are great for times when you want something simple.

Cornell & Diehl - Carolina Red Flake 2oz
DOA
I'm not sure I like this very much. Not the tobacco. This Carolina Red Flake is fantastic...Ross Arlen T. was spot on in his assessment. It's exactly what I look for in VA flake and then some. And that's the problem. What do I do if I want more? I was lucky and snagged 4 tins. Right place at the right time, I guess. But what about when it runs out? And what about poor old Andy B.? Post Script: Well, I guess the people that didn't get any of this are the lucky ones. All of it has been recalled due to possible mold issues. Very disappointed.

Dan Tobacco - Salty Dogs 50g
Pricey, but outstanding
I had been waiting a long time for smokingpipes.com to get this plug in stock, and when they did I ordered immediately. This is a great traditional navy plug. It is mild, but with a great va/per flavor. The rum really isn't very apparent during the smoking, though you certainly catch a wiff of it while slicing. I do let it dry a bit after cutting, and after doing so it burns perfectly. As previously noted, it is expensive. I personally think it's worth it though. If you like the Pease plugs, I highly suggest this one. It's very pleasant.

Dunhill - Royal Yacht 50g
Good Smoke Occasionally
I always love reading the reviews for this blend. It is certainly one of the most polarizing tobaccos on the market, right up there with Erinmore Flake. You either love it or hate it, it seems. I love it, and smoke it occasionally. Like Erinmore, it's not something that would ever be in my regular rotation. There are times however, when this VA blend scratches a distinct itch. I suggest you give a shot and see what camp you're in. Better yet, find someone who hates it and they'll probably give you their partial tin. Aaron S. or Ross Arlen T. might be a good candidate.

Cornell & Diehl - Burley Flake #1 2oz
Great Burley Experience
This blend tastes great, but man is it strong. Every time I smoke a bowl it kicks my butt. Great burley flavor with just enough perique to add a little spice. Burns clean, though it's a bit on the wet side. This is a great burley centered blend, but be careful if you're not used to the high nicotine content. UPDATE: I have been reaching for this flake more and more, to the point where it is in my regular rotation. Yes it's strong, but man...the toasty burley vibe is out of this world. I like it better when it's drier, as that seems to enhance the flavor.

Cornell & Diehl - Crowley's Best
Go to blend for years
I love this blend and have been enjoying it for many years. It is all about burley, with latakia and perique along for the ride as condiments. Easy to light and stays lit. Produces lots of smoke, and has a great burley taste. Nice fine ash remains with very little dottle. For some reason, this blend doesn't get a lot of attention, but it should. Truly, if you enjoy a solid, burley based smoke, you should buy an ounce or two and see what you think. Me? This is one of the few blends I will always have on hand. By the way: if you enjoy the Cornell & Diehl Burley Flake blends, you might enjoy this on the occasions when you want something a bit lighter

Farewell McClelland
- ► I just logged on to buy a few more tins of Dark Star and Old Dog, and I’m greeted with this horrific news? I’m consumed by a combination of rage and depression over this. Makes me want to give up pipe smoking all together.Shit...I feel like shit.
Do You Have Any Cubans ?- ► I buy Cubans from time to time for special occasions, but truth be told, I prefer Nicaraguans. Cigars like the Davidoff Nicaragua, Tatuaje Fausto and Drew Estates Liga Privada #9 are far better that 90% of the cigars that come out of Cuba (in my humble opinion).
