Borkum Riff - Bourbon Whiskey 7oz
Putrid !
I smoked this back when Swedish Match made it. This the Rum flavor, cognac, and champagne flavors. The cognac was my favorite. I don't know what the heck this garbage is now ?? The old blends had quality Virginia and burley in them. This stuff I have for no words.

Mac Baren - 7 Seas Regular 3.5oz
The Only Aromatic
When I first tried this there were some QC issues but that was over 5 years ago. Since then I've had no problem with consistency. This is the only aromatic that I smoke anymore besides the Vanilla Cream but 9 times out of 10 for aros I reach for this. Cool, no bite, lots of flavor and a superb aroma and side streams. The cleanest Aromatic I ever smoked ! This is cleaner than every other tobacco that I smoke. A- 1

Tampers & Tools - Rubber Pipe Bits (2 pack)
Save Your Teeth
In my opinion Bryco's are better quality but these are far from bad. Clean them with pipe sweetener or wintergreen alcohol before using and you won't get no rubber taste.

Mac Baren - Symphony 3.5oz
Updated Review
I let this sit in a jar for 2 months and wow, big difference ! The flavors are more intense, it pops now. It still has the cocoa note in the aroma and taste, but I'm getting a bit more sweetness from the Virginia a nice honey taste and the burley is standing out more with nuttiness. Also getting a hint of leather. Aroma is old school pipe cocoa/ honey. With just a little age this improved substantially. Age this for a year and it's probably spectacular. Buy it, jar it up for a month or two and enjoy.

Sutliff - Revelation Match
This is Great !
Wow this is better than the HOW version and the RJ Reynolds versions I had in the past. Slightly smokey, a bit sour, and lots of natural sweetness. The topping really propels this blend and makes a very nice taste and room note. I love this stuff !

Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation - Evening Flake
It's Ok.
Nice caramel notes from the Virginia and the top flavor. The perique is the peppery kind, not my cup of tea. I opt for the sweet stewed fruit kind of perique. Has a bit of a nicotine hit too. The upsides are that it does smoke cool and clean. Kind of a set it and forget it tobacco. Fold, stuff, light and your off. Tastes young when new, definitely needs age. I'll come back to this in a year to see if it makes a difference.

Wessex - Brigade Original Virginia 50g
Familiar....
This tastes and smokes like the Old Benson & Hedges mellow virginia. Soft, tangy, sweet, pleasant aroma, cool. It's a bit one dimensional but a solid smoke no doubt.

Mixture No. 79 - Mixture No. 79 1.5oz
I like it !
Not as soapy as it used to be, more liquorice too. The pouches version is slightly drier, the tub more anise. An easier smoking version these days compared to 40 years ago.

Comoy's - Cask No.4
Honey Lemon Sweet
One of the nicest navy flakes I ever smoked. Sweet, citrusy, no bite, cool.

Sutliff - Revelation Match
Aged it's even Better
2 year old batch. Perique stands out a bit more, Virginia's sweetened but are more pungent now, Burley and Kentucky mellowed out some. Still a great smoke !

Mac Baren - Black Ambrosia 3.5oz
Sweet and Mild
Smoke it slow for a cool, honey sweet smoke with sweet aroma.

Peterson - Irish Dew 40g
Simple but good.
A pretty simple blend. Burley dominant but the VA is definitely there. A bit snappy if you smoke it too fast. Has a nutty, toasty taste and a pleasant mild chocolate aroma. It's a bit one dimensional to me but something I enjoy to break the monotony.

Mac Baren - Danish Mixture Modern 3.5oz
Sweet and Cool !
A sweeter, more aromatic version of Mixture Scottish. Very smooth, cool and tasty. A bit milder than it's Scottish counterpart. The tin note reminds me of English tinned candy that you get around Christmas time. It also ages beautiful due to the VA flake in it. Superb, Danish aromatic that has real tobacco flavor as well. Not a steamer or gooper. You'll be impressed.

Cleaners & Cleaning Supplies - Pipemaster Clean and Cure 2oz
It Works !
Great product ! Keeps pipes fresh and clean.

Larsen - Signature Vintage Mixture 100g
A Great Aromatic !
One of the best Aromatics on the market. Cool smoking, sweet, fruity, and pleasant. Can't go wrong with this, smoke it slow.

Cleaners & Cleaning Supplies - Blitz Pipe Cleaners (80 pack)
WOW !
The best Barre none ! These work great !

A & C Petersen - Escudo Navy Deluxe 50g
Good but....
It's still a good Va/per but not like it used to be. Smokes cool and burns well. Lacks the sweetness it once had, needs aging.

G. L. Pease - The Virginia Cream 2oz
Not bad....
Tastes like a light bulk style aromatic to me. It's not bad but it's nothing great either. A bit on the mild side, kind of leaves you hanging. The quality of the tobacco is no big deal either, it seems rather standard. Smells like a cheap bourbon flavored cigar, not so great on the aroma.

Peter Stokkebye - PS400 Luxury Navy Flake
Good Bulk Flake
In Comparing this to Mac Baren Navy flake, PS is more grainy and natural. As far as casing I'm getting rum, molasses, and liquorice about as old school as you can get. Smokes cool and dry. Aroma is nice, more on the natural side. I believe this would be better with some age. Mac Barens is sweeter and in my opinion done better. It's more refined and has a better flavor and aroma. But with some age PS NF would be pretty close.

Peter Stokkebye - PS403 Luxury Bullseye Flake
Raisiny Brown Sugar
This stuff is great ! Sweet, cool and with a little strength. Slow burning, nice sweet natural flavor.

Davidoff - Danish Mixture 50g
Good but light
This is good tobacco but it's kind of light for my taste. I'd much rather smoke Mac. Baren Danish Mixture than this. This is pleasant but lacking.

Tampers & Tools - Brigham Pipe Reamer
Good
Good for what it is, there is better but this does get the job done.

Fribourg & Treyer - Golden Mixture 50g
Lousy
Don't waste your money !

Mac Baren - Vanilla Cream 3.5oz
True Danish Vanilla
This isn't a overcased tobacco. In fact it is done superbly. It smokes cool if you don't rush it, the aroma is to die for, and the taste is smooth, creamy and sweet without being over bearing or cloying. You get tastes of vanilla, cream, cinnamon and nutmeg. I usually smoke Mixture Scottish but I like this as a switch off in between.

Cleaners & Cleaning Supplies - B. J. Long Regular Pipe Cleaners (56 pack)
Old Standby
Good standard. They are absorbent and have good stiff wire. They fit down any pipe. I always have them.

Sutliff - Revelation Match
Great Bulk Blend
I've been smoking this a few months now and I do like this better than the original. Mild, fruity, nice aroma, smokes cool.

Presbyterian - Presbyterian 50g
The Original was better !
Needs drying time out of the tin. Always was Oriental heavy but something has changed. Can smoke a bit hot, theres better than this even in bulk blends.

Larsen - Old Fashioned 100g
Miss
Burns hot...not as good as 1864

Seattle Pipe Club - Plum Pudding 8oz
Fine Smoke
Very good balkan/english with a good flavor. Smokes cool . I wish it was a tad sweeter but its still very good.

Balkan Sasieni - Balkan Sasieni 50g
Not Quite...
Its good but its no Sobranie!

Mac Baren - Plumcake 3.5oz
Plum & Rum
This is sweeter than Navy Flake but a bit sharper and with a little spice from the pinch of latakia. If smoked slow its sweet and smooth. Good aroma from the tin and smoke. A staple in my tobacco drawer.

Mac Baren - Mixture Scottish Blend 3.5oz
Love it !
Once you learn how to smoke this you cant put it down.

Mac Baren - Navy Flake 3.5oz
Brown Sugar
This is a delicious flake ! Smokes cool, tastes sweet with flavors of rum, honey, and brown sugar in a tobacco base. This is an awesome blend and with age its even better.

Mac Baren - Symphony 3.5oz
Good burley.
A good burley smoke. Cool, mild, slightly sweet, no bite if smoked slow. It is what it is, a bit one dimensional but most burley dominant blends are like that. I prefer Golden Extra over this one.

Lane Limited - Ready Rubbed 14oz
Yum !
Burley flavored lightly with molasses, cocoa, and anise. What more can you ask, an old school favorite ! Cool and Tasty with thick clouds of smoke.

Mac Baren - Golden Extra
Another Mac Baren Fave..
One thing with Mac Baren blends, you have to smoke them slow. If you can control your cadence you will be rewarded with a tasty , satisfying treat. Golden Extra is just that. Light sweet flavor of natural cocoa and honey not goopy syrup ! An old time burley blend going back tp 1951 and its probably Mac Barens second biggest seller next to Mixture. Smooth burley with a little oomph but mild and mellow. An old school, tasty burley/ va blend with a mildly sweet aroma. Try it !

Mac Baren - Mixture Scottish Blend 3.5oz
old Standby
I love mixture ! Smoke it slow and it wont bite. It has that honey toast aroma and taste that i love. An original classic.

Mac Baren - 7 Seas Regular 3.5oz
Still good...
I did manage to catch a bad tin of this and it was not pleasant but hasn't happened since. There must have been a bad lot that escaped QC. I still buy it, still love it and no problems since. Good Stuff !

Peter Stokkebye - PS23 B & B
Good Standby....
I was suprised by this blend. Its more a spicy sweet black cav with burley. Tastes like Granger mixed with black cav. This is good leaf as you can still taste tobacco. Im gonna keep a pound of this on hand as my go to ! It can be a little snappy on the tongue but if you smoke slower no worries.

Mac Baren - 7 Seas Royal 3.5oz
Runner Up...
Another good aromatic from Mac Barens 7 Seas line. This one is a tad less sweet than the Regular blend but has a fruity quality. Personally i like the regular better but this is definitely 2nd place. Smokes cool and dry, can do this all day as well.

Dan Tobacco - Sweet Vanilla Honeydew 50g
Could have been ....
This is a tasty tobacco with a nice aroma but it bites like a rabid dog and scorches your mouth ! Its a shame because it is tasty.

Mac Baren - HH Latakia Flake 3.5oz
One of the Best
Wow, this stuff is awesome ! Sweet, smokey flavor. Its a juicy smoke but very cool with no bite. Juicy in a good way, its bursting with flavor. This is an aweso.e addition from Mac Baren ! Whether you like english or aromatics, you will like this tobacco .

Samuel Gawith - Black XX Rope 50g
Good but Lookout !
Very tasty like a Toscano style cigar but very strong and potent ! Id rather chew it than smoke it !

Samuel Gawith - 1792 Flake 50g
Yuck, Tonquin !
Good tobacco, nice virginias, lousy topping ! If you like Tonquin go for it , if not stay away ! Another love/ hate tobacco.

Dan Tobacco - Blue Note 50g
Smooth !
This is has a slightly odd but unique flavor and aroma. Its a vanilla and fruit cased/ topped blend but different ? It has a balmy quality about it and its smooth as a Yoo Hoo drink. It reminds me of an old pouch blend called Black Clipper.... Well done aromatic.

Smoker's Pride - Cherry Cavendish 12oz
Codger Cherry
Not a bad economy cherry blend. Best in a cob, good for doing yardwork.

Mac Baren - Dark Twist 3.5oz
Good !
This has a nice, natural maple and brown sugar taste to it and pleasing aroma. Smokes better rubbed out but should still be sipped or it will bite you.

Amphora - Full Aroma 1.75oz
Why ??
This is changed, not the same. Less aroma and flavor. Used to be sweeter and a notch higher in strength too. Not like it used to be !

Mac Baren - Vanilla Cream 3.5oz
Not Your Typical Vanilla..
This is a darn good tobacco ! Its not the syrupy, overcased, goop that many vanilla tobaccos in which are scourged. This is a good quality Danish vanilla cream with actual tobacco taste. Sweet, creamy, flavorful, and occasionally nutty.Better when sipped, stays cool and dry. Room note is pleasant and not cloying. If your looking for all vanilla and no tobacco flavor look elsewhere this isnt for you. If you want a nice, sweet but balanced vanilla and still want to taste tobacco this is the ticket.

Stanwell - Melange 50g
High End Hickory !
This tastes like a premium version of Middletons Hickory, same aroma and all but much better than its drugstore counterpart. Its an aromatic with some tobacco taste and kick. I like it .

Sutliff - SPS-2000 Sunset Rum
Oh my !
This tastes like Italian Rum cream cake ! Great dessert smoke.

Lane Limited - 1-Q
Not Like it Used to Be.
All of Lanes product has changed over the years. This used to be sweeter tasting , now its kind of bland. Stokkebye Golden Dansk is better than this now.

Mixture No. 79 - Mixture No. 79 14oz
Better....
This blend has definitely been tweaked ! While its still am aquired taste it is easier to smoke these days. It used to be very soapy and pefumey, it still has that quality about it but more subtle. Its heavier in the liqorice department too, the extra anise did it justice though. You do get a kiss of vanilla here and there and if you air it for 15 minutes before hand it smokes cooler. At times this reminds me of another old codger blend, VIP ! VIP was a birch flavored burley/ virginia blend and it was sweet. Mixture 79 does have a birch beer taste about it on and off. There is something floral that is added which to this day i still cant put my finger on, but it is now more laid back. If you take your time with this blend you will enjoy it, its just not for everyone. Those who can get througj the first pipeful, you will find yourself reaching for 79 more than you anticipated. If you somewhat like it at first it will grow on you, if you hate it you will never pick it up again. To me its a nostalgia smoke and i do enjoy the anise flavor and vanilla in the aroma.

Cornell & Diehl - Star of the East 8oz
Too Much of a Good Thing !
This is overkill ! I enjoy English blends with latakia, but this is just too much latakia. An english blend is supposed to have a balance between smokey, sweet, and floral. When in balance a melody is produced that is beautiful. Yes, some will have more va, some more turkish, some more latakia, but some kind of a balance is needed. Dunhill London mixture and Standard mixture is perfect. This is way over the top with latakia. Its good the first 3 bowls but because of heavy latakia you palette and taste buds become tired to the point you cant taste anything. Then no matter what you smoke after is null and void because of burnout. Im talking taste burnout here not tongue bite. Ill stick to the good old english blends like Dunhill, Presbyterian, and Sobranie.

Cornell & Diehl - Autumn Evening 16oz
Jack of all trades master of none !
First time I tryed this i purchased an 8 oz tin. It was very mapley and good. However you really cant taste the virginias, and they are not very good quality. But i dod like the flavor and aroma. Second time i purchased a 16 oz tin, and the maple was almost non existent and the tobacco itself not a very good quality to enjoy without flavoring or casing. My point, C&D aromatics are not consistent ! I havent really smoked aromatics in years but i like to keep one or two on hand when my sweet tooth strikes me. Sutliff and McClelland aromatics are always the same, i know what im going to get. Wish i could say the same for C&D ! Seems Autumn Evening is the leftover shake virginias from other tobaccos that didnt cut it.

Hearth & Home - Classic Burley Kake 8oz
Old Skool !
This is as old school as you can get ! Reminicent of the hi quality codgers of the old days back when they packed them in tins ! If you like Carter Hall or Prince Albert, this is like the two combined but in gourmet form. Its not really an aromatic. It's cased in a sauce, but it's not goofy and sticky. Actuallyvits on the dry side but fresh and with ample moisture. You get the cocoa in the aroma and slightly in taste, the rum is almost non existent and the anise sparingly for spice. But it's smooth, dark and nutty, very mild too. A delicious burley in an awesome cake cut, the best cut for burley. It will never get too dry as long as you don't rub it all out in the tin. It crumbles easily and you can do scoop and fill with it. This is a good burley of old school quality. Its not really like Edgeworth in taste just in looks. I'd say it's better !
