Peterson - Wild Atlantic 40g
Peterson did it again!
||Taste: Medium. Great combination of Virginia, Oriental and Latakia. || Strength: Medium. || Moisture Level: Slightly moist. Can be smoked right from pouch but short drying time would be good. || Will I recommend?: Yes, highly recommended. It is a good quality smoke, easy to pack, easy to light and stays light well. It is a well behaved tobacco. The blend is a well balanced mix. I don't find any component that is more outstanding than the others. They work in harmony and deliver you a unique creamy smoke. || Nicotine Level: Not noticeable. || Additional Notes: From my experience, it has tasted better in pipes with smaller bowls. I'm not sure if others experience the same. I will be getting extras soon to be cellar-ed.

Peterson - Irish Flake 50g
Perfect!
Taste: Full Bodied. Wonderful burley and dark fired kentucky in a thick smoke. I don't taste the Virginia though. Maybe it's there but I don't pick it up. Strength: Full strength. Moisture Level: Wet. It will require some drying time. Will I recommend?: Yes. It is a good quality smoke, easy to pack, easy to light and stays light well. It is a well behaved tobacco that tastes the same from charring light till the end of the bowl. Nicotine Level: It has high nicotine level. I have good nicotine tolerance and I still get light headed sometimes. I don't have issues smoking them in the morning or in an empty stomach. Additional Notes: Goes well with a cup of hot black coffee. From my experience, it has tasted better in pipes with smaller bowls. I'm not sure if others experience the same.

Samuel Gawith - 1792 Flake 50g
Frustrating tobacco
Taste: Full Bodied. You get a thick flavorful smoke. Strength: Full strength. The tonquin flavor is really the star of the show. Moisture Level: WET WET WET. Will I recommend?: I don't know. And that is the reason for the poor rating. I have tried to smoke right from the tin, dried it a little then dried it further till the point it's really dry. I have also packed the bowl differently - folded flake, cube and rubbed out. I have also packed them loose, slightly more compressed to really compressed. Despite all my effort, I always had issues keeping the bowl lighted up. My relight was so frequent i barely had a chance to lean back and enjoy the smoke the light would be out again. There was never a time i had the chance to relax and figure out the flavors from the smoke. Every single time, I would dump the remaining half bowl away due to frustration from the relighting. It is not a bad tobacco and it seems only I have faced such problem. I will probably buy another tin of Samuel Gawith: 1792 Flake sometime in future and I will edit my review if I don't suffer from the same issue again.

Samuel Gawith - Commonwealth Mixture 50g
Not for daily smoke
Taste: Full Bodied. With 50% Latakia blend, they might itself make it a Latakia straight because that is all you taste anyway. Strength: Full strength as described in the tin. Latakia all the way till end of bowl. Moisture Level: I know Samuel Gawith blends come really really wet, but this particular tin, I did not check it properly during purchase as I bought a couple of other blends and the seal was compromised. So I got dry tobacco and saved me drying time. Will I recommend?: Yes, ONLY if you are a Latakia lover. Yes, if you like strong blends and you don't mind more Latakia than Squadron Leader. If you are a beginner, try Squadron Leader 1st. Latakia haters, i don't think I need to elaborate any further. Nicotine Level: Anyone who used to smoke cigarette will be able to tolerate this. Additional Notes: This cannot be a daily smoke for me. If I take 3 or more bowls of this per day, my nostril will hurt. However it's good to have it around whenever you feel like having a knockout smoke.
