Sutliff - 526 - Old Professor
Pretty much what's in my pipe for the last two years
I wrote something here in 2022, and since then that's mostly what I have been smoking. Just a great English blend.
Cornell & Diehl - Old Court
A Brother Of Another Favorite
I usually smoke Sutliff's 526 daily, and this one is my second goto 'bacco when I have some. This one has about the same ingredients, but with Perique, making it pungent when smelling the bag, but soooo awesome to taste! ...when you're an intermediate/advanced pipe smoker, that is. For beginners I would say: try it soon in your rotation, this one is reminiscent of old days, and makes heads turn.
Cornell & Diehl - Dark Fired Kentucky
Darky, Smoky, Naughty
I just had a smoke of this. A darky, smoky, naughty, beefy pipe of it. Del-i-cious. 5 stars. (smoother than MacBaren's HH Old Dark Fired).
Starter Kits - Highway Nine Rusticated Starter Kit Straight
A great beginner's pipe
Great pipe for its price + comes with a pipenail (which I needed an extra) , some pipe cleaners (you never have enough) and a tobacco pouch (my sturdy new fellow). Makes a cool gift also.
Sutliff - 526 - Old Professor
I Have a Winner!
Out of 4 samples I ordered lately, this one is my favourite: Smooth on mouth, Nice Aroma & Turning Heads.
Low Country - Natural Virginia
Great Straight Virginia
For its price and its taste, this blend is unbeatable. It offers a nice Virginia tobacco burning aroma and taste just like I like it. It can be compared to D&R's Windsail Platinum or C&D's Yorktown although the latter is finer in taste and aroma.
Sutliff - 507-S Stoved Virginia
It's a half-Cavendished Virginia
It's my humble opinion--take it or not. This tastes like a half-Cavendished Virginia tobacco. Now, I'm not an entire expert, but I do have an experienced palate after a pound of Black Cavendish a few years ago, a this has all the sugary taste of a stoved Virginia and a half complete Black Cavendish. Not my stuff, but good to know for blending...
Daughters & Ryan - Windsail Platinum 16oz
Pretty Much What I Smoke Lately
It gives a wonderful Virginia taste and the smoke odour is really pleasant. I like it a lot.
Tampers & Tools - 8deco Club Tamper Redwood
Nice Little Tool
While I don't tamp once lit, I tamp for filling. Nice tool.
Tampers & Tools - Low Country Reamer
Maybe The Best Reamer
This thing is very sharp. And it cleans the pipe chimney nicely. I would have liked to have such a tool a while ago. It's a must; get it!
Cutters & Accessories - Craftsman's Bench Bullet Cutter and Key Chain
No Lock
It's a worthy tool for its price but I would have prefered if it had a safety lock.
Dunhill - Nightcap
A Calmer EMP
Pretty much similar to Early Morning Pipe with less Latakia and with Perique, Nightcap is a calming blend. A great tobacco like all Dunhill's I tried up 'til now.
Dunhill - Early Morning Pipe
Indeed, Great As Day's First Smoke
I just love to have a Latakia kick in the morning as my first pipe smoke. Usually I go for Sutliff's 203 Heavy English as my first pipe of the day, but if I had a bigger budget I would definitively go for Dunhill's EMP as it comes with its own "finesse", which you don't find anywhere else. A subtle and gentle Latakia kick from Dunhill is (almost) as good as it gets (but I find it elsewhere also).
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Brown Twist
Like An Awesome Cigar
I rarely give five stars for tobacco on SPC but this one deserves them well. Like a good maduro cigar, if you've ever smoked one, this blend is as good as it gets. A great tobacco smell, a strong taste and a good kick on the nicotine; I wonder if it can be better. Expensive but awesome. Try it if you can.
Lane Limited - 125th Anniversary
Saved By The Perique
I'm not a Virginia fan. As I'm always avoiding Virginia based tobaccos I was wondering how bad the sample would be. And lo, I quite liked this one, not because of the Virginia's quality but because of the Perique's presence. So ok, I liked it and you might like it too. Am I ordering some someday? Could be. Another fine one by Lane Limited.
Sutliff - Tobacco Galleria: Fox & Hound
Still Delivering An Excellent Smoke
I backed out of this blend after SPC got a new batch from Sutliff, but after ignoring it for over 6 months I see that Fox & Hound still delivers a fine smoke. It used to be my all-day tobacco and it could still be if I hadn't change my habits since then. Sutliff's Fox & Hound is an underrated tobacco waiting to be discovered.
Newminster - No.17 English Luxus
A Good Second Try
I reordered a year later 1/2 pound of this fine English Blend. This time I noticed a plum topping which I think it didn't have a year ago. Although its smoke doesn't taste what the tobacco smells, it can get annoying if you're not a big fan of aromatics. Every time I open its jar I cringe a little but it delivers a fine smoke.
Lane Limited - Medal of Valor
Not Awesome But Great
Another great one from Lane Limited, this time it is an English Blend. Smooth and suave, although not an over-the-top blend. It is comparable to other good bulk english blends such as Newminster's English Luxus and Sutliff's 965 Match, but with more "finesse". What's missing from this blend is to have its own niche with its own pungent mark; and then it would be an awesome blend. It is an above regular blend but not an incredible blend. 4 1/2 stars because it is that good.
Cornell & Diehl - Oriental Silk
Nice Oriental/Virginia
Not what I was expecting which was more an incense like taste. I didn't notice the Perique but overall it was a good Virginia smoke with some complexity. At one point I thought I was licking an armpit. Not sure if I should say this but for a tobacco I liked it. Hoping it was a female one...
Lane Limited - Crown Achievement 1.75oz
A Stout English
I don't know if it was a last batch from the bulk crate but for me it was a stout English with some complex notes of Orientals and something else. Yet, I enjoyed it. Comparable to Dunhill's My Mixture 965 without the pungent taste.
Lane Limited - Crown Achievement
A Stout English
I don't know if it was a last batch from the bulk crate but for me it was a stout English with some complex notes of Orientals and something else. Yet, I enjoyed it. I will have to try the tin hoping it will be a better sample. Comparable to Dunhill's My Mixture 965 without the pungent taste.
Sutliff - Match 20
A Good Budget Tobacco For 965
Although not sharing the background pungent aroma Dunhill's My Mixture 965 has, Sutliff's 965 Match comes pretty close to its creaminess and smoothness. If your on a budget but want something similar to Dunhill's My Mixture 965, Sutliff's 965 Match is a sure win.
Dunhill - My Mixture 965 50g
An Elegant English Blend
G.L. Pease said in one of his articles that the Dunhill tobacco's used to have a particular pungent aroma that I think is still a bit discernable in our days, but I have only smoked the bulk format so I'd better try the tin before saying anything more. A smooth, creamy all-day smoke it is. I'd would prefer to smoke it in summer but why not right now with some snow. This tobacco had the right to be hyped.

Cornell & Diehl - Mountain Camp 8oz
A Great Burley/Latakia Blend
I ordered Bayou Night along this Mountain Camp blend and this one comes closer to what I was looking for. Bayou Night is a wonderful blend, but this one is my favourite. The full flavours of Burley and Latakia are the most prominent giving the smoker a graceful taste which, along with its Perique presence, gives the environment an aroma of some kind of incense. To be in my rotation for sure.

Cornell & Diehl - Bayou Night 8oz
Holy Smokes!
I just had a heavenly bowl of this Bayou Night. Nicely balanced, good Burley taste, toasty and mellow. A great blend. Ordering some more for sure and it will be in my future rotation.

Cornell & Diehl - Pegasus
A Great Burley Blend
Everything you might expect from a good Burley blend. I recommend this to every newbies and experienced pipers alike. Ordering some more for sure.
F & K - Black Bayou Mist
Strong And Smoky
If I could smoke indoors I would brew some espresso to accompany this nice Dark-Fired/English blend. A nice strong smoke with complex tastes that needs to be smoked more than once to fully enjoy it. I might edit this review sometime later to add another half-star if it wins my tastebuds after a few more bowls. Edit 2/23/2016: Raised it to 4.5 stars. Wonderful smoke! Edit 03/10/2024: The last batch (2023) wasn't as powerful as in 2016. I smoked all I had since then. The 2016 batch was a more interesting smoke compared to last year's!
Lane Limited - HG-2000
Nice Aromatic
Its smoke gives a nice perfumy taste and smell pretty much like the 1-Q but less smooth. I did notice some natural Burley flavour.
Cornell & Diehl - Engine #99
The Newbie's Mountain Blend
Although a generally good English blend it ain't what I was looking for, which is, blended with more Perique. A good mountain blend for newbies. Good stuff.
Cornell & Diehl - Super Balkan
Great Balkan Blend
I like this kind of blend as a first smoke of the day. Mainly a Oriental/Burley with Latakia, I prefer Sutliff's Heavy English although this blend would be a good alternative. Good stuff.
Mac Baren - HH Old Dark Fired Ready Rubbed
Almost Like Irish Flake
Although I haven't smoked the flake version of HHODF I can only compare this Ready Rubbed with Peterson's Irish Flake. Its aroma is similar but HHODFRR's smoke is stouter and less tasty. Considering it is thin sliced ready rubbed, oxygen is more present on intake so it might not be a good thing to compare it with a Flake. Expect a robusto flavour with rich earthy/roasted/nutty notes. I must try its flake version. Edit 12/2022: Still delivers a great strong smoke. If you like Vitamin N, this product gives you a good punch. Hooray for Mac Baren and this delicious smoke!
Peterson - Old Dublin 50g
A Good English Blend
Peterson's Old Dublin is a good English blend offering a nice round, creamy and spicy smoke but nothing more. Having smoked other English blends, specially in bulk, I don't see any "Wow" in this tin. I'll buy more of it only if my cellar gets short on some of my favourite bulk English blends; which are far cheaper and great to smoke. 4/5 stars.

Peterson - Irish Flake 50g
Does it get better than this?
After all I'm still a newbie in pipe smoking but I have tried twenty some blends until now and this is a gem! Rich earthy tones and a strong kick; I smoke cigars once in a while and I don't mind a nicotine punch but in a pipe with this delicious dark fired flavor, I must say that it is a 5/5 win. It is A Great Tobacco to not be undiscovered if you haven't tried it yet. Although, as mentioned on the tin: "Recommended for the experienced pipe smoker", I might add: "To be tried by every pipe smoker".
Peterson - Luxury Blend 50g
A Great Aro...
...but don't expect awesomeness because of its brand. Although it's a Peterson brand it is a relatively simple aromatic. Good taste and a good smoke. 4 stars, I liked it. Edit 11/21/2015: Finished my first tin of this great aromatic. Only editing to upvote it as a delicious aromatic. I was expecting something awesome from the Peterson Brand and my first bowl didn't meet my expectation. But it build up with the following ones to finally, with some shyness, raise its rating to 4.5 stars and with joy to have discovered a really great aromatic.
Newminster - No.403 Superior Round Slices
Great Puff!
My first experience with Dark Fired Kentucky was with these tobacco disks. The aroma is a mix of spiced grass and the smoke is quite voluptuous where we notice the Virginia and DFK tastes. A great smoke who'll please the natural tobacco fan. I really like it and I am looking forward to try more DFK 'bacci types. 4 stars.
Sutliff - 503 Heavy English
Great English Blend!
It starts a bit light on Latakia but grows until mid-bowl where its name takes all its sense. Quite a spicy smoke. If you're looking for something loaded on Latakia you will not be displeased with this blend. Remember that its spiciness builds up to mid bowl, then it's full spicy. 4 1/2 stars. Edit 11/30/2015: It became my first smoke in the morning. Something spicy to wake up and start the day. A great English blend.
Sutliff - Golden Extra
A Good Virginia/Burley Blend
Expected stronger on Burley. Has a nice Virginia main background topped by a light Burley frontend. A good tobacco for evening smokes. You won't be displeased if you like Virginia flake. 4 stars.
Peter Stokkebye - PS17 English Luxury
A Good English Blend
I enjoy stronger English blends. This one is a bit too mellow but has a nice taste. A bit too light on Latakia for me and has a flavour reminding me of African or Oriental leaf. A good buy. Great with tea. 4 stars. You won't be displeased.
Lane Limited - 1-Q
Expected Something Marvelous
I don't understand why all the fuss over 1-Q. I ordered 4oz of it to try and all I can say is that there's better and cheaper bacci on smokingpipes than the 1-Q like Sutliff's Fox & Hound and Night Cap. It's just too overhyped. 3.5 stars. Edit 6/29/2015: Got the hang of it. Raising to 4 stars. Good stuff, sending some to my uncle in Brampton.
Sutliff - Tobacco Galleria: Night Cap
A Great Aromatic
I only smoked 2 bowls of my 1/4 pound order and I like it a lot. Makes me think of Captain Black's Regular and all their similars but I kind of enjoy better Sutliff's Tobacco Galleria Night Cap. 4 stars. Edit 8/12/2015: Bought some more. Still undecided if I prefer 1-Q or this Night Cap. I like both I guess but I seem to prefer stronger tastes. A Great classic aro.
Newminster - No.3 Very Cherry
A Great Cherry Pipe Tobacco
Got this as a sample. I had smoked a pound of MacBaren 7 Seas Red a few months ago but I might prefer the Newminster No. 3 Very Cherry over MB's. It could even be in my rotation in the future. 4 stars.
Sutliff - Tobacco Galleria: Blue Note
A Smooth Smoke
Blue Note gives a smooth smoke with a classic taste that I can't define. Might be the Green River Cavendish. If you like smooth aromatics you won't be displeased. Little to no bite. Enjoyable. 3.5/5 stars because I prefer stronger smokes but I still liked it. Edit 11/21/2015: Gets better by aging it I guess. My 6 months old order is more enjoyable lately.
Mac Baren - 7 Seas Gold
Smooth, Mellow, Sweet
The MacBaren 7 Seas Gold gives a very smooth smoke with little bite and a nice vanilla sweetness. Maybe my third favourite of the 7 Seas series after Royal and Regular. Four out of five stars. You won't be displeased if you like smooth aromatics. Edit 11/21/2015: Still got some of the 4oz I ordered from last May. Did like it but I prefer the cherry 7 Seas Red over this one. So it makes it fourth favourite over the 7 Seas Black. Downrating it to 3.5 stars.
Mac Baren - 7 Seas Gold 16oz

Cornell & Diehl - Autumn Evening
An OK Aromatic!
I just smoked 1 bowl of the 4 oz I received yesterday and was amazed of how the taste was present in every puff. The aroma was noticeable through the postal box and when I opened it I immediately opened its bag to take a deep sniff of the wonderful maple syrup smell. Although I did smoke some aromatics these past months, none came as close to give its taste as Autumn Evening does. Maple in every puff. Highly recommended for any aromatic lover. Edit 8/12/2015: Got another sample of this great blend. Raising this to 4.5 stars. One of my favourite all time smokes. Great stuff! Edit 11/21/2015: Down rating it to 3.5 stars as I came sadly to unlike the Red Virginia Cavendish. Although the maple aroma is great, its really bad downside is C&D's Red Virginia Cavendish taste that tired my buds quite quickly. First puffs were great but my last 4oz order will take a long time to go through.

Sail - Aromatic (Green) 1.5oz
A Great OTC Tobacco
Although my first bowl wasn't much pleasant, it grew on me until I finished the pouch and bought some more later on. It's presented as a Broken Flake cut rather than Ribbon as mentioned and might be compared to some good earthy Virginia Flakes with some Latakia. A very good OTC blend.
Captain Black - Original 1.5oz
A Good OTC Tobacco
Although the room note is quite a reminder of old pipe smokers when I was young, it is a good smoke for its price. I enjoy it although I prefer way more the 7 Seas Regular blend.
Tampers & Tools - Czech Pipe Tool
Simple And Effective
Although a simple tool, it is effective in what it must do.
Cleaners & Cleaning Supplies - B. J. Long Bristle Pipe Cleaners (40 pack)
They're Great
Very good cleaners; you won't be displeased.
Cleaners & Cleaning Supplies - Brigham Bristle Pipe Cleaners (75 pack)
They're Great
Very good cleaners; you won't be displeased.
Newminster - No.400 Superior Navy Flake
A Very Good Flake
"Wow", I said after my first bowl. A very good Virginia flake, a category of 'bacco I had never tried before the 0.5 oz sample I got from my last order. Quite a smooth and tasty smoke, although high on Vitamin-N; not for novice smokers. 4.5 stars. Will definitely order some very soon. One of my most enjoyed smoke.
Sutliff - Tobacco Galleria: Fox & Hound
Pleasant And Satisfying
I find this blend to be quite interesting, where I notice mostly its smokey Perique presence. Although a generally satisfying smoke, the *English* blend family mention should not overrule your expectation as Latakia obscured by the Perique. Expect a mostly Perique/Latakia smokey/spiced smoke rather than a overall explicit English blend. 4 stars as I'm quite happy to have ordered one pound of it. Edit 07/27/2015: I've been ordering 1 pound of this blend each of the last 5 months being my main all-day tobacco and I must say that at its price and taste it is one of the best low cost "english" blends out there. Raising to 4 1/2 stars because I love it! Edit 11/04/2015: Its price went up a bit but its taste is as always Great! Raising it to 5 stars as it is one of the most interesting blends I've smoked until now.
Sutliff - Tobacco Galleria: Classic Chocolate
A Good Alternative To CB
The Burley leaf taste isn't much present, which I contrarily anticipated, but the chocolatey flavour is. It can be compared to Captain Black regular blend with a slight plus.
Tampers & Tools - Rubber Pipe Bits (2 pack)
For A Pleasing Hold
These pipe bits are great to normalize all your pipes between your teeth along protecting the stems and offering a good shock-proof holding of them in mouth.
Tampers & Tools - Tobacco Pipe Wind Cap
The Pipe's Best Outdoor Friend
Great for walks on windy days. Don't go outside without it.
Mac Baren - 7 Seas Royal 16oz
A Great All-Day Smoke
This *might* be my favourite of the Mac Baren 7 Seas blends, although I haven't tried the Gold Blend yet (on my order next month). It offers more or less the same Virginia/Burley leaf taste like the other 7 Seas blends but has a more pleasing chocolate aroma and a nice fruity casing taste. 4 stars like the other 7 Seas blends because they offer great all-day aromatic bowls.
Mac Baren - 7 Seas Royal 3.5oz
A Great All-Day Smoke

Five Brothers - Five Brothers 1.25oz
A Strong Shag; Burley Leaf Is Burley Leaf
I only got 1 bowl from my ordered pouch. I can say that we roll a well known over the counter shag tobacco here in Canada, that looks and smells quite a lot like the Five Brothers pouched Burley. Although the smoke is quite strong and the shag displeasing to pack, the Burley is quite enjoyable and, as we must expect it, Burley leaf is Burley leaf. To be tried if you haven't; to forget, on my side once I'll finish the pouch. 3 stars because I like Burley...
Newminster - No.17 English Luxus
A Great English Blend
I've had 2-3 bowls from the 8 oz bag I got today and I can say that it's going to be a good month with this order. Great English blend with a good taste of Virginia/Burley leaf taste. Only disapointment is no Oriental leaf in this blend as I like its presence in English blends. 4.5 out of 5. Try it, you wont be disapointed!
Mac Baren - Modern Virginia Loose Cut 100g
Not Awesome But Interesting
Light taste and wonderful aroma from the sample pouches; not my preferred smoke but I might buy a tin in the future. Availability in a 16 oz bag would be a nice option as I prefer a long period of unique blend smoking before reaching a conclusive opinion on leaf preference. 4 stars, for its interestingness and olfactory/visual pleasing blend.
Mac Baren - 7 Seas Black 3.5oz
Ain't My Favourite Of The 7 Seas
It gives a satisfying smoke but it offers a poor leaf taste. I prefer the Red, the Royal or the Regular blend (haven't tried the Gold blend). I give 3 stars though as I might buy a tin in a certain future (but not for the next year).

Mac Baren - 7 Seas Red 16oz
A Fine All-Day Pipe Tobacco
I wasn't optimist about cherry aromatic pipe tobacco as a novice but it became a favourite in my rotation after getting myself the Mac Baren 7 Seas Red blend. It gives a pleasant Virginia taste at every puff; getting myself some more in the future. 4/5 stars for a commercial pipe tobacco.

Grand Croupier - Boneyard
Impressive For The Price
I liked it very much for its very low price. Try it, you might not be displeased! EDIT: Came as a granulated cut without PG.
Mac Baren - 7 Seas Regular
A Fine All-Day Pipe Tobacco
My first use of the Mac Baren 7 Seas Regular Blend pipe tobacco was from a bought 50g pouch from a well known Montreal tobacconist, but maybe for its rarity as a regular over the counter 'drugstore store' pipe tobacco and the local low popularity of pipe smoking, the pouch offered a very dry tobacco on its opening. After re-hydrating the stuff, the following bowls pleased my palate. Very common as the Captain Black Regular Blend, this product offers a chocolatey aroma and a similar smoke without Virginia loose leaf content. It is a good all-day smoke for the less 'fines bouches' of pipe smokers.

It is a good all-day smoke for the less 'fines bouches' of pipe smokers.
Mac Baren - 7 Seas Regular 3.5oz
Tom Eltang - English 2oz
A Fine English Blend
This English blend gives a fine smoke, enjoyable from the beginning 'til the end. I tasted it from a sample but I'm getting a tin very soon and some more in the future.
