G. L. Pease - Quiet Nights 2oz
Great smoke for a contemplative evening with a good book. Extremely flavorful orientals and rich latakia, hard to get any better than this blend.
Cornell & Diehl - Star of the East 2oz
Just not enjoyable for me, very average and forgettable. Will not purchase again, there are far more interesting blends out there.
Dunhill - Standard Mixture 50g
Very ince smoke
Lovely English blend, fairly straightforward and relaxing. This is a blend that deserves the accolades that it receives.
Lane Limited - Buttered Rum
Smells lovely, tastes fairly artificial, but bites like a rabid dog. Will not buy again.
Capstan - Ready Rubbed Blue 1.75oz
I live in a rural area and as a young man would help put up hay during the summer. If you want to know the smell/taste of a fresh mown field of hay, this is you smoke. Smooth and pleasant.
G. L. Pease - Meridian 2oz
This is a very enjoyable smoke, no bite with good burn properties. Love the robust flavor and would recommend to anyone.
Pipe Accessories - Martin Wess Elk T7 Roll Up Pouch with Snap
Purchased this to go with my Elk two pipe bag and am extremely pleased with it. Buttery soft leather and sturdy construction make this the perfect pouch for me.
Pipe Accessories - Martin Wess Elk 2 Pipe Bag
I purchased this two pipe bag along with the snap closure Elk tobacco pouch and could not be happier. Construction is excellent and leather is buttery soft. My friends who smoke are always jealous of these items. Definitely worth the money.
McConnell - Oriental 50g
Smooth and Subtle
I really enjoy smoking Oriental blends and this is no exception. I tend to compare everything to Durbar, so here goes. This has a great tin aroma of figs and raisins, is also very appealing to the eye. This was a very easy to enjoy smoke with great smooth flavor and very good burning characteristics. I feel that the addition of a touch of black Cavendish gives this blend its distinctly velvety texture. I will be buying more of this to cellar.
Cornell & Diehl - Rajah's Court 2oz
The description compares this to Dunhill's Durbar, I would go so far to say that the two are similar blends with different characteristics. Where Durbar is, to me at least, a bit more rounded and smooth, Rajah's Court has quite a bit more edge to it. Not at all a bad thing, just different sides of the same palette of flavors. I would recommend this to those who like the flavor and aroma of Orientals.
Arturo Fuente - Hemingway Signature
This is hands down my favorite cigar. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
Arturo Fuente - Chateau Queen B
Very nice smoke.
This is a great cigar, construction was perfect, very even burn, great aroma out of the box. Sweet cedar and a deep earthy smell, like the smell of being deep in the forest. The draw was just a little tight, but not a problem, the smoking experience was enjoyable and the taste was smooth and not overpowering. My only complaint is that I enjoyed it so much I wish it had lasted even longer.
Newminster - No.306 English Orient
Very enjoyable and sure to be added to my regular rotation. I feel that this blend is very smooth, but would benefit greatly from a little cellaring. I will definitely buy this blend again and set some back to age and mature.
Mac Baren - HH Vintage Syrian 3.5oz
This is a very fine tobacco, full of flavor yet smooth as silk. Subtle sweetness underneath the smoky/leathery flavor of the Syrian Latakia, with a bit of spice from the Orientals. Got a tin last week and just ordered another pound in bulk.
Dunhill - Durbar 50g
Great blend, not as in your face as some Dunhills but very enjoyable. This is not a Latakia first blend, the orientals take the lead with a spicy/incense taste. Very subtle smoke that is sure to please.
Lane Limited - Hazelnut
Tin note definitely lives up to its name. Smokes well and does not bite or get bitter further into the bowl. I would recommend this to anyone who likes aros.
Pipe Tools & Supplies - Smoker's Candle Vanilla
Works just as described, will order again.
Lane Limited - Crown Achievement 1.75oz
Not for me.
Maybe I just got a bad tin, but it had no discernible tin note, was extremely dry, and tasted harsh with an acrid aftertaste. I typically like Lane blends, but this was just bad.
Lane Limited - LL-7
This is my go-to when I feel the urge to smoke an aromatic. Has a great pouch note, smokes smooth with no bite, and has a very pleasant room note.
Stands & Pouches - Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation Roll Up Kenzo Black
I have been using this item for several months, and have been very happy with it. Made of a very soft, supple leather with excellent stitching, and holds plenty of tobacco for a day or two. It fits in the pocket nicely without being too large or obtrusive. I will buy more of these when they come back in stock.
Solani - X - Sweet Mystery 50g
Not a real fan of aromatics, but this is just loaded with a blueberry/blackberry taste. If you really enjoy this type of flavors then this will certainly please. Best if smoked slow and easy. Probably not something I would buy again.
Villiger - After Dinner 50g
Deep and Rich
My first flake, but it was easy to rub out and let air for a few minutes. The wife said the room note was nice with a berry scent, the taste is very deep with subtle flavors coming and going as you progress down the bowl. I did not detect any fruit taste, but did enjoy a mild hazelnut flavor. Was a joy to smoke slow and burned very well.
Dunhill - My Mixture 965 50g
Just plain good.
This is the perfect way to start any day. MM965 and a strong cup of coffee. There is nothing fruity or perfumed with this tobacco, just a straight forward smoke. Will definitely buy again.
McClelland - Collector: Wilderness 50g
on second thought
I had to try due to all the great reviews, was not impressed at first. After aging for 1 1/2 years now I get it, the sweet smokiness of the Latakia and the subtle notes from the Orientals. Great mixture, just needs to mature for a bit.
Mac Baren - HH Acadian Perique 3.5oz
Smooth and Easy
Although I really like English blends, this is a super nice smoke. I will definitely add this to my list of favorites. Tin note of dried fruit, smokes extremely smooth with no bite at all. Smoking impressions made me think of Autumn images, dry corn silks, ripe grapes, and hickory nuts. Overall just a very nice tobacco.
Balkan Sasieni - Balkan Sasieni 50g
This was a very easy to like tobacco. Burned extremely well with almost nothing wasted in the bottom of the bowl. Flavors were varied and hard to pin down, I noticed a floral or fruit note that reminded me of roasted pears. Also has that English blend latakia taste that I enjoy. Definitely one I will enjoy more in the future.
Dunhill - Nightcap 50g
Deep and Rich
Opening the tin I was greeted with notes of oak campfires and an old time smokehouse aroma. Takes me back to when people would cure and smoke their own hams. Smokes deep with a rich earthy smell. If you are looking for the type of tobacco that can stand up to a black Irish tea or 18 year old whiskey, this is it. Feels silky in the mouth and conjures images of gentlemen in smoking jackets in the library.
