Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Bob's Square Cut
Nice, clean, medium body; subtly flavored.
This has a nice medium natural flavor, for being flavored. If are disgusted my the artificial compromise of most aromatics, this might not offend you all that much. It is woodsy with a hint of spice. The aroma is pleasant, not fruity, nor offensive. It is not super complex but it not boring. Side note, the flakes actually sparkle, if it's sugar, I did not pick up much.

Deep, Dark, Delicacy.
I'm sorry but this tobacco revolutionized pipe smoking for me. One bowl of this stuff and you will notice a growing population new chest hair and a little bit more fortitude in your step. This is not for beginners unless you are a previous cigar smoker. This stuff is heavy, full of flavor giving notes of spice, earthy dark wood and leather. Let this stuff set out to dry after slicing. allow it to get pretty dry otherwise you will end up doing the same process in your pipe by relighting 20 times (not recommended). This tobacco smokes very cool, though you will think it is warmer as the nicotine is so strong that it will make your mouth feel a little numb and tingly.

An old world Aromatic
I was looking for an aromatic with a pleasant room note, good body, without the artificial flavors that come with most tobaccos in it's category. This is my go to when I don't want to offend with my usual favorites, Happy Brown Bogie and Black Irish Twist.
McClelland - Personal Reserve: Blackwoods Flake 100g
My favorite Medium bodied pure Virginia
I have been searching long and hard for that perfect all around pure Virginia. My search is over. Blackwoods flake offers a rich, toasted, creamy dried fruit like flavor that has me hooked. It smokes on the cooler side of most the Virginias I've tried and easily rubs out to your liking. This will always be in my rotation.
Cornell & Diehl - Golden Days of Yore 2oz
Nice flavor, Great room note, but burns a little hot.
So, I was super excited to see this holiday blend as I expect Christmas blends to have some if not all of the holiday spices, this one does. The flavor is good, but right out of the can it seemed to come a little dry for an aromatic, that fact alone does not always mean it will burn on the warmer side, but unfortunately this one does. I have yet to attempt revitalize it with some moisture and try it again but as it stands, these is my findings. The room note and flavor is amazing and I hope with some re-hydration or some blending, Golden Days of Yore will shine for what I had wished for.
McClelland - Premium Aromatic: Captain Cool 50g
My favorite aromatic
This is by far my favorite aromatic. It's the smoothest coolest smoking tobacco that I have ever owned, no bite at all. It is packed with a creamy caramel vanilla flavor that is rich and enticing. I rarely smoke aromatics anymore, but I blame this blend completely for keeping me in love with the genre. It is all around very present and it has a wonderful room note.
Samuel Gawith - 1792 Flake 50g
Heavy but not harsh
I just cracked this tin open after having bought it months ago. I did not realize what I was missing. This stuff packs a sizable nicotine punch with a full body, void of any real harshness. This in not for the faint at heart or for aromatic only smokers. If you plan to smoke this on an empty stomach, make sure you stay in your chair when you do it. This has a cigar like body, with a great hint of tonka bean, which gracefully compliments this monster.
Dunhill - Nightcap 50g
Heavy stuff/Amazingly good!
This stuff is heavy, bold and flavor filled. It's also very cool, so much so that even the speed puffer would have a hard time burning their tongue. Nightcap's flavor carries a smoky fermented black pepper that is bold, earthy, full bodied and smooth, if that's you cup of tea, grab a can of this. If your and aromatics only guy, your experience will probably be like the last review (Bug Repellent). If your looking to step your way up to something heavier, try starting with Frog Morton (Across the Pond or the original) I'm a lover of variety in my rotation, being a former cigar smoker, the fullness and complexity of this blend gives me the best of both worlds. Nightcap has earned it's place on my tobacco shelf.
McClelland - Craftsbury: Frog Morton 50g
This is wonderful!
Very smooth Latakia, mild with a fantastic dark earthy flavors.
McClelland - Grand Orientals: Drama Reserve 50g
Mediterranean vacation!
I love to keep variety in my rotation and since I've always been a fan of oriental mixes, I decided to find one that could stand on it's own. I did not know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. As soon as I opened the can I was welcomed by a complex dried apricot/prune aroma, which also translated to the room note. Upon lighting this Mediterranean blend I was hit with a brand new flavor that I immediately began to enjoy. Before buying I was a little worried that it would taste and smell like a cigarette, but found that not to be the case. This is a mild to medium smoke that has no indication added latakia or much if any unnatural flavoring. If you're looking to take your taste buds on a Mediterranean vacation, grab a can of this and enjoy.
