Cornell & Diehl - Palmetto Balkan 8oz
Very pleasant and woody - likley exceptional with age
Well I took the "risk" and bought one of these big tins. It's very nice, and actually reminiscent of Syrian latakia. Woody and incense-like smoke as opposed to the campfire taste of Cyprian latakia. The orientals provide a a good foundation for the flavor but I feel as if there is slightly too much latakia in here covering up the oriental and VA taste. It should therefore benefit from some aging, as I recall the few real Syrian blends I've smoked did as well. Overall, this is a nice morning/evening smoke that gives a good taste of this new "Cypriot" latakia.
