About Me:
Wisconsin native. I've been smoking pipes for 30 years and I'm always learning!

Cornell & Diehl - Old College
A risk that paid off
Like many pipes smokers, I try different blends, and that's how I discovered Old College. Usually I prefer moderate aromatics that have some pop to them. This one seems to be a nice non-aromatic blend, not overly strong or bitey, lots of flavor and a comfortable smoke. After trying 2oz. I bought more and gave some to my son-in-law. I recommend it for aromatic smokers who are inclined toward the strong English blends but want something a bit more alive and edgy without overdoing it.

Cornell & Diehl - Cordial
Pleasantly surprised
I found this blend to be a nice "crossover" between aromatic and English, not too bitey and great flavor. It is quite dry, smokes easily, smells wonderful, and I find myself naturally reaching for it now, which means I'll buy more!

Savinelli - 140th Anniversary 100g
A wonderful discovery
Had I not bought a new Savinelli Roma pipe, I would never had known about this blend. But Chip, from Smoking Pipes, recommended it and it came free with my purchase. What a wonderful discovery! I mainly smoke aromatics, but too moist and syrupy. I don't mind some latakia mixed in or orientals for a little tang. This, for me, is a nice blend with a unique flavor and aroma, and no harshness or bite. Now I might buy 100g. for my son-in-law as a Christmas gift...and some for myself. Thanks, Chip!

Carter Hall - Carter Hall 14oz
A regular for me now
I'm a little late to the party on this blend, but it's a regular for me now. After buying a pouch locally, I ordered a 14oz. tub from Smoking Pipes and love it, along with other bulk blends I use and a few tinned tobacco products. It's mild and flavorful, stays lit, smokes comfortably, and doesn't irritate me. The nicotine kick from the burley is not overpowering. All in all, I really like Carter Hall.
