Drucquer & Sons - Levant Mixture 200g
Missing something?
This is a lat-forward blend, but there seems to be a lot missing. It's fragrant, but there are no "creamy" notes to speak of. It's like turning down the bass on your hi-fi (showing my age, I know). Maybe it was designed as a "light" blend; it certainly comes across that way to me.

Meh . . .
After reading some positive reviews, I gave this a try. None of the reviews describe what I found in this yellow can. Very bland; tastes like a cheap "big bag" blend to me. Perhaps I got a bad can, who knows. I'll be blending it with Carter Hall (gasp gasp) to make it worth smoking. UPDATE: After a couple of weeks, I decided to give it another go. This time, it was like a rabid badger was attacking my tongue and nearby body parts. Usually, tinned tobacco gets better after awhile. Not this particular batch, I'm afraid. Deep sixing it.

Superb Smoke
The old expression "I'm too poor to buy cheap" certainly holds true with this blend. I'm not an expert who can detect every leaf that went into it, but I can tell you it's miles above many of the stuff I've smoked over the last 50+ years. It's bite free, packs well, burns a long time without brushfire smoke filling the room. Many Latakia blends are poorly done, but this one is perfect. There's no "medicine" taste at all, and the moisture is perfect right from the can. The best analogy I can muster is going to a "chain" steakhouse; their steaks are marinated, injected, tenderized, and flavored to the point that they don't taste like steak anymore. This mixture is like going to a fine French restaurant and ordering their classic filet. Needs nothing except eating. Or, in this case, smoking. Highly recommended.
