Peterson - Royal Yacht 50g
Unique
This is a stand out virginia, very similar to ye old sign but darker in color and stronger in nicotine. The last version topping/casing was much more pronounced which complemented the blend significantly. On this one i can barely detect any topping, it still have strength but not irish flake strength. If you appreciate dark virginias like dark bird eye sans the added flavoring then this might be right up your ally. Knocked one star for the price, i believe its over priced, but then again royal yacht was always over priced i assume its the virginia used/process. Best regards Al janabi
Peterson - Elizabethan Mixture 50g
An all day vaper
I really do not recall a big difference between this and the last version. Placebo effect perhaps but i feel the perique is less. Very good virginias and mild with no tongue bite. Very subtle all day smoke. The cut is fine ribbon and the smell is very faint of fermented virginia. Now murray version was much more pungent but thats none ressurectable. I hope this pass as a legit replacement for those who remorse the loss of the last one but on its own right its a good blend. Al janabi
Cornell & Diehl - Autumn Evening
Maple at its best
If you are after maple/butterscotch kinda taste buy with confidence. If i have to pick an aromatic for life this and mac baren vanilla flake would be it. Now this does have more danish aromatic qualities to it, so it not overly moist and the taste is persistent. Strangely enough it packs some punch to it. It burns great and i never heard complain about the room note. I some times add some poplar camp to it and end up with a really strong mix, loose some of the sweetness but gives it an extra dimension and nicotine strength. Al janabi
G. L. Pease - Penny Farthing 2oz
Well rounded
Very rounded mix where ingredients mixed around in unified taste experience. Although the cut is fine but its not as fine as 5 brothers/dark birds eye kinda cut, it look like mini ready rubbed cut blend, looking at it reminds me of McClelland black shag. It is slightly sweet and smokey did not overwhelm me by strength so the perique is not heavily added but you can certainly feel it on the retrohale. Burns relativly ok for a shag, they usually go faster but as with all flakes packing it carefully is required so you dont plug the draft. Typical gl pease taste from the same component, think jack knife triple play/six pence in a shag form. I bought few to see what age may add to it but for the time being 3 stars and some change. Sutliff - Sutliff 1849 1.5oz
Nice vaper
Sutliff has a typical flavor profile to their blends, the red virginia is very tangy and the perique is spicy this blend showcase similar profile not necessarily a bad thing but not the best vaper out there. However little drying benefit this blend significantly. The cut is wider so the burn is slower and tight packing should be avoided. Room note is not going to win any prizes but its not very bad either. I bought few tins to see what age would do to it. Very similar to elizabethian match from the same company. Al janabi
Peterson - 3 P's Peterson's Perfect Plug 50g
Last perfect plug
This is one of the last offerings in the american market for perfect plugs (unlike gl pease and c&d) plugs where it is more like bunched up leafs and no real compression, this is solid. Hence age nicely and burns very slowly, it is sweet and tart with acceptable aroma. If you dont mind the preparation its a must try. Al janabi
Former - Private Flake 50g
Mild and sweet
The topping and casing is not very evident, very similar in taste to stockebby luxury twist flake with more sweetness but not enough to mask the tobacco, matter of fact i can barely taste it. Now the base is very balanced, virginia burly slow burning and mild to medium. Not the best for the asked price but not the worst when it comes to flake offerings. Al kanabi
A & C Petersen - Escudo Navy Deluxe 50g
Gold standard
It is one of the va/per blends bench marks, not as overwhelming as other vaper blends the perique is a tad higher than orlik golden sliced. Very similar to dunhill navy delux and in my opinion its the same blend. Burns slow and well and the taste develop as you go down. Sweet and satisfying with mature virginia dominating the profile. Try it if you like flakes and vapers. Al janabi
Amphora - Full Aroma 1.75oz
Not the same
I respect mac baren and their efforts in blending and recreating blends. Sadly this is less flavorfull from the original, however leaf quality is better. Sweet and floral with cocoa and floral spice touch to it. Good transition between natural and aromatics. Al janabi
Amphora - Burley 1.75oz
Very nice
Nice middle of the road ready rubbed burly, no prominent top note just butly nutty earthy flavors. The virginia is minimally present but the blend is smooth, no bite that i can detect and i am sensitive to burly. If you liked burly flake HH you may like this one too. Al janabi

Edit: not to change my mind about this tobacco but to address smoking pipes team to address the issue, i was contacted by Steve shortly after i contacted customer service and they corrected the issue promptly. All the respect for smoking pipes, they have proper approach for their clients even if it is a big business. I just hope mac baren get to the bottom of this. First time i tried this blend i fell in love, home run on all marks. I bought many pouches and stored in my cellar temperature controlled and all. A year pass by and every pouch i opened were filled with mold, very frustrating and unacceptable from mac baren. Smoking pipes will not exchange or refund as it is not within the last 30 days, not that i will open 40+ pouches in 30 days anyway nor the mold showed at that time. If you will not smoke the pouch within few days dont waste your money like i did. Al janabi
Cornell & Diehl - Billy Budd Blonde 8oz
Better than the original
Not to be bias i am going to declare that i do not fancy latakia all the time. Now i loved the old one but the latakia always stopped me from reaching out to it. That being out of the way this one taste just as smooth and rich, burns well and have some strength to it. Not many cigar blends out there but this should be on every one list.
