Lane Limited - MV-1000
As mild as tobacco can get
This tobacco is smooth and pleasant, but has little taste. It’s great for beginners. I find it useful to occasionally mix some of it with strong English or Balkan blends. It tones them down and the tiny bit of vanilla doesn’t interfere with anything.

Sutliff - Dark and Silky 1.5oz
Reviewing again with a recommendation
I gave this tobacco an excellent review a few days ago, but would like to follow up with a suggestion. Smoke it in a meerschaum if you have one. The delicious chocolate flavor is so pronounced that you run the risk of ghosting a briar pipe!

Sutliff - B20 - Black Cavendish
Go-to Black Cavendish
This is a solid black Cavendish. Smooth and on the mild side without a heavy topping distracting from the mellow taste. Zero tongue bite. Stays lit easily. It can be an all day smoke

Sutliff - Dark and Silky 1.5oz
King of Chocolate
This is the best chocolate aromatic I’ve tasted in over 50 years of pipe smoking. Having read some complaints about it being moist or sticky in the reviews I emptied the tin onto a tray, spread the tobacco out, and dried it in the sun for a half hour before smoking. No moisture, no problem keeping it lit, just puff after puff of smooth chocolate deliciousness.

Mac Baren - 7 Seas Gold
OUCH!
Having tried, and loved, all of the other seven seas tobaccos (7 Seas Regular is my favorite), I ordered some seven seas gold. I had read the reviews and saw that most of them were highly favorable. I noticed that a few of them mentioned that the tobacco had a bite, but I dismissed them as outliers. However, with the first puff, I noticed the distinct and unpleasant bite. I thought perhaps the tobacco was too wet, so I went into the pouch and determined that it was not. I continued to smoke, but the bike was so unpleasant that after smoking less than half of the bowl, I dumped it. I then mixed it with some Sutliff Black Kathy, bye mildest, and blandest tobacco. I tried it again the next day and found that most of the bite was gone. So I then put some more black Kathy in and it was now smokable. With all of the really delicious tobaccos out there, I saw no reason to have to tinker with a tobacco to that extent simply to make it palatable. I will never order this tobacco again.

Mac Baren - 7 Seas Royal
Excellent smoke
This is a truly fine tobacco worthy of the adulation it receives here. Surprisingly, I sometimes detect a tiny bit of tongue bite, which I have never experienced with the slightly sweeter 7 seas regular. I blended a small amount of Sutliff Black Vanilla and poof! (or perhaps I should say “puff”) the taste was all there but the bite was gone!

Sutliff - Tobacco Galleria: Midnight Smoke
Not just for midnight
Reading the reviews, I was tempted and ordered some. This is the perfect smoke for when you want something light but flavorful. I would give it an extra star for taste. No bite whatsoever and I had no problem keeping it lit. I will definitely get some more

Sutliff - B30 Chocolate Mousse
Chocolate treat
This is a yummy tobacco. Perfect for when you want something sweet and delicious. Burns smoothly with a nice white ash with little need for reloading all the way down to the bottom of the bowl.

Sutliff - B28 Hot Chocolate
Incredibly mild
The rating is accurate as is the suggestion that this is a beginner tobacco. The taste is very subtle and I was frankly expecting more chocolate from the taste and the room note. I tried two bowls of it and found it just a bit too mild. I will use it for blending

Sutliff - 101 Black Kathy
Smooth and light
This is a mild and pleasant smoke. Excellent straight when you are in the mood for something lighter and also perfect for mixing with a more powerful blend. I would disagree with reviews that say it has no taste. The taste is sweet and subtle. I would rate the room note one notch higher than shown.

Mac Baren - 7 Seas Regular
Serendipitous surprise
I recently received a shipment. I ordered from smoking pipes, and when it arrived, I was disappointed to find that they had mistakenly shipped someone else’s order; single ounce packages of three tobacco’s. I had never tasted before. One of them was seven seas regular. I found them to let them know about the mistake. They apologize profusely and said they would ship out my original orders the same day. I said if they would provide a prepaid label, I would happily return what was sent to me an error. They told me to keep them and again apologize for the mistake. I won’t talk about the other two tobaccos but when I lit up a bowl of seven seas regular, I found to my delight that it was one of the finest Cavendish plans I had ever smoked. I am going to order a larger quantity of it from them, and based upon this experience, I expect I will try samples of other tobaccos in 7 seas line.

Sutliff - Troost Match
Troost is Back
This was my go to daily smoke when I was in my mid 20s half a century ago. I actually collected the coupons and ordered their imitation Delft tobacco jar which I had until just a few years ago. I was pleased to find that Sutliff was now selling a match to this tobacco, and I tried some. A lot of nostalgia in those first few puffs, but, although the cut, the aroma, and the taste brought a flood of memories, not unlike Proust’s petite madeleine in a cup of tea, I found a tiny bit of a bite that was not familiar. I am going to try blending a bit of Black Kathy, in order to see if I can eliminate that bite without significantly altering the taste. I will get some in my next order and post another review with the results.

Peter Stokkebye - PS201 Black Cavendish
Classic Black Cavendish
Slightly moist but velvety smooth. This BC delivers all you could ask for in aroma and mild flavor

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - American Blend Whisky
Funky
This is a really expensive, tobacco, full bodied and easy to light, but it has a kind of dank overtone on the nose and the taste. I don’t understand why so many are fond of it.
