Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Brown Flake Aromatic
I was disappointed with this Tobacco. I found this lifeless, and no character. It was bland, and nothing stood out. This is not even in the same league as Best Brown Flake #2, or Glengarry Flake.
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Glengarry Flake
Was not expecting that.
This is far from a bright tasting Tobacco. In fact its dark and musty but in a very good way. great taste, and after taste as well. Very gentle, but full of flavor. I could swear in a blind tasting, that there are hints of Orientals. Kind of reminds me of Sunday Picnic blend. Almost, this one is more subtle and darker. I'm a fan.
Wessex - Gold Virginia Flake 50g
Where do I start. This is simply the best Virginia I've ever had. So mild, but with beautiful floral notes, Hay at it's best. So naturally executed in it's purest form. Exquisite! German ingenuity at it's best!
CAO - Eileen's Dream Tubo
I'm not a Cigar smoker, novice at best. I've had some really strong horrid tasting Cigars before, but this is not one of them. Lots of chocolate notes, and stays flavorful the whole way through. Great for beginners.
Sutliff - Pumpkin Spice
Very good aromatic.
Mild, and tasty. Great desert after thanksgiving dinner.
Comoy's - Cask No.7
I'm a fan.
Bought this many times, and failed to write a review. The Cavendish adds a little bit more sweetness along with the Virginia. Although the Perique is not lost with the sweetened mix. It's well balanced. And a good smoke.
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Best Brown Flake #2
This is no #2
Bought the last oz of this. Some of you might know what I mean when I say this: Best Brown is like a finely crafted Porter Beer. It is sweet, thick, and molassesy. With a hint of smokiness. I could could go for a lb of this right now. Wonderful!
Low Country - Natural Virginia
A good basic Virginia. The price is excellent.
Cornell & Diehl - Derringer
Yep, good stuff.
This is a different Virginia then what I usually buy. Good taste with floral element's.
Sutliff - Crumble Kake Red Virginia 1.5oz
Mac Baren - Virginia No. 1
Right up there with some of the best. All the good qualities of a great Virginia. Rotation worthy :)
Peter Stokkebye - PS312 Toasted Burley
This is what a good Burley is all about! Fabulous big smoke, nutty, chocolaty, sweet. Granger is still my #1, but this got high star's because of the cut as well. The broken flake is a fantastic attribute.
Comoy's - Cask No.2
This is no #2
This is a fantastic Aromatic. Very gentle and well rounded. Nothing gaudy about this mix. This is quality. Great taste! Burns well, with nice bellowing smoke. Well, it is Comoy's so you can't go wrong ;)
Filters & Adaptors - Savinelli 6mm Balsa Filters (20 Count)
Still giving the taste of the Tobacco, but with great protection moisture wise, and health wise? I'd rather use them then not.
Sutliff - 507C Virginia Slices
I like it. I've had better Virginia, but this is nice. Worth the price with some quality.
Cornell & Diehl - Bright Virginia Ribbon
Bright, sweet, and clean. Great for blending or smoking as is.
F & K - Black Bayou Mist
I like it. The Dark Fired Kentucky makes her pretty strong when you take big hauls. Doesn't hold a candle to F&K Lancer Slices though.
Cornell & Diehl - Star of the East Gold
Yeah, it's good
Not a top ten English for me, but it is typical. All the right stuff, and good portions for a good English mix. Great buy for the price!
Cornell & Diehl - Sunday Picnic 2oz
Not just for Sunday's.
Delicious! Tin note is fruity, and love the flake cut. This is a winner and will buy again. Beautiful bellowing smoke, stay lit, and lasts a long time in Bowl.
Peter Stokkebye - PS403 Luxury Bullseye Flake
I'll call, and raise you $100!
Everything that is said good about these little Casino Coins are all true. But please don't buy any, because that would mean the supply would be in jeopardy :( :D
Presbyterian - Presbyterian 50g
Found this blend to be quite harsh, and lacking balance. In my purchase I bought two tins of Tobacco. This, and Sasieni Balkan. This is not in the same league as Sasieni. I know lots of bulks that would dismantle this Tin very quickly. Perhaps bad batch?? UPDATE UPDATE!!! Ok, after the advise I got from representative: Chris Panos from SmokingPipes, it changed everything! He had advised I dry this blend out some. I dried it for about 4+ hours and what a difference. The once harsh bitterness had turned into a mellow, sour exoticness. The Orientals shine in this blend. No joke. This has gone from a 2 1/2 stars to 4 stars. In fact I smoked two bowls back to back HA! Best tasting oriental blend I've had. Just the right amount of Latakia for a hint of smokiness, and a foundation balance of Virginia. Thanks Mr. Panos for you're wisdom ;) Will buy again!
Balkan Sasieni - Balkan Sasieni 50g
I really like this. Powering with Latakia. A nice smooth smoke though, and tasty. Comparable to Balkan Blue, but not as complex . But good and I'd buy again.
Sutliff - 523 Voodoo Queen
Yes, an Aromatic. The Burley is the main event in this blend. Big bold smoke with Chocolate and Coffee notes. The Latakia is present, but nicely complimenting the Burley. The Perique is lost, but it don't matter lol. Because it's so tasty. And who want's Pepper on their Chocolate anyway. Good stuff!
Cornell & Diehl - London Squire
I could swear that there is Orientals in this mix. This has a great sourness that dominates wonderfully?... Anyhow I'll have to go through all my bulk reviews and take away a star from them all, because of this excellent blend. Rich and tasty, with nice smoky, and sour notes. Cornell & Diehl score another top notch winner! I would have given it full marks, but because I'm mad I didn't order more then 2oz's.
Peter Stokkebye - PS400 Luxury Navy Flake
A really nice Virginia. Bright, with hints of coconut and hay. Mild, all day smoke :)
Arturo Fuente - Exquisitos Maduro
I've had some horrible Cigars before. And I would not consider this as one. but I wouldn't say it was a wonderful experience either. Not a bad taste though. kinda has hints of chocolate.
Sutliff - 503 Heavy English
Nothing special about this Tobacco. Nothing jumps out in flavor's. Pretty bland really. You can smell the Latakia, but you can also smell a heavy chemical odor as well. I wouldn't buy this again. Ever.
Cornell & Diehl - Odessa
Balance! Balance is a good adjective to use to describe this tobacco. Just enough Latakia to give it that smokiness. Nice sourness from the Oriental, and the Virginia as the foundation. Although I found the Perique lost in the mix a little unless you really drag hard. Still, the balance is terrific! And nicely mild as well. This could easily be considered an all day smoke.
Mac Baren - HH Latakia Flake 1.75oz
Frig, it's figs!
Fruity, bright, clean, nutty. Smoky hint... Balance... Every time I smoke this, I get a different experience. Must be because I use a different Pipe every time. Very clean and mild. Stays lit for the whole duration. The tin note is very fig smelling. Put this on you're toast in the morning, it's that good of a smell. This is a keeper! Superior quality.
Samuel Gawith - Squadron Leader 50g
On the contrary. This is not a Latakia Bomb. Although the Latakia is very present. It is very smooth. This is a all day smoke for sure. Very balanced and a great introduction for someone starting into English. A Beauty of a mix.
Stands & Pouches - Claudio Albieri Leather Cleaners Holder Blue
Smell the Leather
I got it free with an order I placed. At first I didn't know what to do with it. Thought it might be a Pipe holder. When it only fit the stem of the pipe, and the Bowl was exposed I thought this is not what this is for. Then typed in pipe holder in the upper bar and came across this: A Pipe cleaner holder LOL!! Although I appreciate the gift from Smokingpipes, I might use it for my next S&M session. That is some soft Leather there ;P
Sutliff - Pumpkin Spice
Fall is in the air.
Fantastic aromatic. So mild you can inhale if you choose. Great taste, and so easy to smoke. And smokes very well. Would buy again easly.
McClelland - Collector: Beacon 50g
You can taste the Virginia, but the Perique is the main event in this one! The tin-note is like delicious BBQ meat in a can. The Perique is top quality. Very peppery, and spicy. Mellow, and tasty when sipped. But harsh, and strong when pushed. Not my favorite Va/Per, but really good stuff. Love the cut, but I suggest rubbing her out before making you're nest.
McClelland - Balkan Blue 50g
This is a top notch English. Loaded with Latakia, but very gentle, and smooth for a heavy Latatia/English blend. Tin note is classic leather, jerky smoked meat smell. This reminds me of a milder F&K Lancer Slices. Recommended, and will get more soon :)
Peter Stokkebye - PS402 Luxury Twist Flake
Smells like Dessert!
Bag note is very delicious. Vanilla, and Coconut. You can taste the sweetness, but a very good Virginia. Tad strong if you push it, so, just sip and enjoy :)
F & K - Lancer Slices
This stuff delivers. No, not the cheapest bulk you can buy, but the quality speaks for itself. Bag note is simply delicious, Smoke's beautifully, and the cut is nice. Needs to be broken up and I find rubbing it out brings out the flavors more. This is right up there with G.L. Pease "Quiet Nights".
Low Country - Natural Virginia & Oriental
Ok, I wrote a review about this earlier. Didn't give it good marks. Boy was I wrong. This Tobbaco is great when aged, and only sipped. If you push it it will burn lol. After aging/sipping it tastes like a true Oriental. Sour, and a hint of spice. The Virginia gives a little sweetness. Perhaps the Turkish has a hand in the spiciness as well. I cant stress enough to sip, and not haul.
Low Country - Natural Virginia & Oriental
LOW price. But no COUNTRY for old men. I found this quite harsh when pushed. There is a mild hint of Turkish, with some spice. Not one I'd purchase again.
Missouri Meerschaum - Missouri Pride 1.5oz
One of the best Burley/Virgina's! Right up there with Granger. Very mild, and flavorful. Chocolate, nutty flavors.Right from the start of the bowl to the end. Highly recommended if you are a Burley/Virginia fan.
Kramer's - New Mix 50g
Nothing really jumps out with this blend. I would never purchase this again. Much better blends then this out there.
Kramer's - Blend for Cary Grant 50g
I thought this of both English, and Aro. I really liked this blend. Tastes like an old time Aromatic. Quality Tobacco. Would but again.
Cornell & Diehl - Granulated Perique
This is soooo smooth. Beautiful taste. The moisture was perfect on arrival. This is the best Perique out there. Second to none period!
Sutliff - Balkan II
Very mild, nothing really stands out. Somewhat blandish.
Cornell & Diehl - Latakia
Got this today. Wouldn't try this alone in my pipe, but mixed it with some tobaccos that are less desirable, and would no longer smoke. Well, I'm here to tell you. It made the not so good into superb tasting, super quality tobacco. This latakia is so fragrant, and dominant that I can still smell it lingering on my outside patio. Very high quality. The ultimate mixer!
McClelland - 2015 Virginia-Perique Flake
This is it!!
This is what VaPar is all about. This is smooth, but all the characteristics of a great quality perique/virginia. The Perique is wonderfully peppery, and the Virginia is sweet and Hay like taste. There are no flaws in this tobacco. This tastes better then any VaPar I've ever had. I would recommend letting this air out for a couple of hours. Found it too fresh. This will only get better aged. Got to buy more to cellar it. Cream of the crop!
G. L. Pease - Sixpence 2oz
First off, the tin note is absolutely delicious!! Fruity, meaty, almost like a full bodied bottle of red wine. I can't say enough about the tin note, wow! Must be the Kentucky, that gives this baby a boost like no other VaPar. An original, but what would you expect from G.L. Pease. The master...
Mac Baren - 7 Seas Regular
Not my favorite Aromatic, but a great one. This has a beautiful bag note, very easy to smoke with great smoke volume. And good longevity. I would certainly buy this again, but want to try other other Seven Seas blends. Can't go wrong with this blend though.
Peter Stokkebye - PS41 Cube Cut
I kike it.
I like this tobacco. Pretty typical nice tasting Burley. More so then the Virginia. That seemed less present. I have mixed reviews about the Cube Cut. Easy to stuff the Bowl, but can fall out if packed just right. Burned nicely, and great smoke. Hint's of Chocolate, and a slight taste citrus. Will buy this again.
Dunhill - Dark Flake 50g
Not one of my favorite VaPer, but nice nonetheless.
James J. Fox - Banker's 50g
Not bad. Nothing really jumps out in this mix. Didn't much taste Burley, was expecting so considering it was first listed. I dunno I wouldn't purchase this in the future.I didn't like the Cigar Tobacco in it. So, To each their own I guess.
Dunhill - Ye Olde Signe 50g
Nothing great about this Ye Olde one. Pretty average I'd say. There is much better Virgina's by far out there for sure :/
Dunhill - Durbar 50g
Heavy Latakia flavor! This stuff burnt my nose HAHA!This is a very high quality Pipe Tobacco for sure. I found it quite strong, but I can understand how it got really great ratings. This is for a mature and seasoned Pipe Smoker. I'll give 5 stars in about 5-7 years down the road ;)
Granger - Granger 12oz
Got some of this from a friend. WOW!! I really like this stuff. First time smoking Burley, and I must say I really like it! It's so different. I taste some citrus notes, and a little bit of Chocolate as it seems. I am buying some of this!!! This is a all day smoke for sure.
Comoy's - Cask No.1
I'm guessing they had a hunch when they called it Cask No. 1. They weren't kiddin'! Fabulous mix. Time to get some more!
Sutliff - Sutliff 1849 1.5oz
A nice smoke. Very mild. Don't taste much of the Perique though. Very Virginia. Don't get that Hay or spicy taste like most VaPer's. Not my favorite VaPer. Nice cut, and the Tin is very attractive.
G. L. Pease - Quiet Nights 2oz
G.L.Pease need I say more. Gaslight was my favorite till I got this today. What a pleasing complex blend this is. Easier to smoke, and less harsh then Gaslight. So unique. Tastes like camp fire, spice, and wild mushrooms. Very earthy, and natural. None like it!
Sutliff - Frosty Mint
If you are a fan of mint, you'll love this! What an awesome tasting Tobacco! Very refreshing, and a wonderful undertone taste going on in the background. This won't be an all day smoke for me, but a treat once in a while. I can't say enough about how impressed I am with the flavor. Total winner!
Cornell & Diehl - Izmir Turkish
I really like this blend of flavor. Something unusually tasty I quite can't recognize. I mixed some Gaslight with it to give dimension, and it is my favorite tobacco right now. Very good without the Gaslight though ;)
Samuel Gawith - Balkan Flake 50g
If you like Latakia you'll love this stuff. A hint of Virginia sweetness, but Latakia dominance. The adjective "Meaty" describes this well. And leathery too.I as well love the after taste. A winner for sure.
Samuel Gawith - Cabbie's Mixture 50g
This stuff is fantastic! You can really taste the Perique. Smokes great, and not too strong. This will be purchased again.
Grand Croupier - Boneyard
It's a miss.
I think the price reflects the product in this case. I did not taste latakia, nor the Perique. For that matter not too much of anything. I figure this is seconds from the bottom of the bin. A mutt makes a good Dog, but not in this mixture. I gave it what I did for star's only because it smoked nice. Probably because it was really dry.
Comoy's - Cask No.4
Very nice VaPer!
I'm really enjoying this blend. It's just what virginia/perique should be. Loving it in my Corn Cob Pipe :)
Cleaners & Cleaning Supplies - B. J. Long Regular Pipe Cleaners (56 pack)
Does what it has to :)
Samuel Gawith - Grousemoor 50g
Wow! Beautiful room note, and tin note. Smoking this reminds me of late spring early Summer. A wonderful clean, citrus flavor thats very pleasant from the start of the bowl right down to the end. Also the after taste is fantastic! This will be in my regular rotation!
Cleaners & Cleaning Supplies - Brigham Regular Pipe Cleaners (75 pack)
Does the job.
Nice little cleaning sticks. Absorbs nicely. They do a nice job on cleaning my Pipes :)
G. L. Pease - Gaslight 2oz
There is so much going on in this Tobacco. First off, I am a Aromatic's fan. So, I ordered this because of the stellar reviews. Well let me tell you there is more flavor in this then most Aromatic Tobacco I've had. This stuff is fantastic! There is something very earthy and nostalgic with the tones of flavors. I really can't put into words how much I really dig this stuff. Needs to be dried out a little. Beautiful white ash.. My new favorite Pipe Tobacco! Wow...
Lane Limited - Dark Red
Nice pleasant bag note. Flavors are true, and not gody. Really rich, and a little sticky. More cherry then vanila, and a smooth mild smoke. Great aftertaste! I could smoke this all day long! one of my fav's.
Sutliff - J12 - Chocolate Truffle
Would you like dessert?
I don't know whether to smoke it, or serve it with ice cream... Yes! This has to be one of the most richest bag note tobacco I've ever smelled. And it actually smells like good decadent chocolate too. Ok, now for the smoking part. Right out of the bag I found it was quite wet. Dried it out for a couple of hours seemed a little better. Very mild tobacco, no bite. Very pleasant taste. Great quality all around. Would definitely recommend this to a chocolate aromatic fan :) Man that stuff smells good!
Lane Limited - 125th Anniversary 1.75oz
I found this particular blend quite smooth. Great smoke, and stayed lit really well. This is quite comparable to Orlik Golden Sliced to my taste buds. Although I think I might favor this one slightly better.
Peter Stokkebye - PS17 English Luxury
Yep, typical spicy boot leather smell. I found this blend quite strong. If you like English type Tobacco you'll love this. I am quite a wimp when it comes to the stronger English Latakia strength. Although I would never smoke this on a regular basis, but I'd would have to give this high praise for good quality.
Amphora - Full Aroma 1.75oz
This was the very first pouch of Pipe Tobacco that I purchased. After smoking many more other brands, I guess it's fair enough to say that this will never be purchased again by me. Hind sight 20/20. This is a very harsh and tasteless product. Never stayed lit. As far as "drug store tobacco" is concerned, Borkum Riff is far more superior.
Dunhill - Royal Yacht 50g
Wow! A kick in the face.
If you like a good nicotine rush, you'll like this stuff. I'm a more mellow type smoker. So this is not for me. Although I kinda liked the taste, and it smoked quite nice, I'd never buy it again.
Peterson - University Flake 50g
Scored some of this stuff from a friend and I must say it's pretty decent. Not the most flavorful as other virgina/burley I've had. This stuff stays lit forever. Only had to fire up the bowl twice.
Cornell & Diehl - Black Cherry
Bag note smells a little weird. There is something else there besides the cherry. But once lit magic happens! Taste wise and aromatically. That off smell disappears. This is a really nice smoke. Will buy again. If you are a cherry fan, I Highly recommended!
Lane Limited - Black Raspberry
Not too bad. Pretty pleasant, and mild. No tongue bite, and nice room note. Update: this has become one of my favorites. I absolutely love this tobacco. Got to get more! :) July 19/16
Dunhill - Early Morning Pipe 50g
This is coming from a guy who has not yet ventured too much into English type Tobaccos. A friend of mine gave me some of this today to try and break me into non-Aromatics. I must say I was pleasantly surprised with this. I could actually taste more of the natural Tobaccos. some nice notes to be tasted. This is quality Tobacco. For shits and giggles I mixed some McClelland VBC with it (blasphemous!) and enjoyed that too lol. Sorry.
Lane Limited - Buttered Rum
Nicely balanced Aromatic. Gorgeous smell when opening the bag :-P Good enough to consume! Well... Only in a Briar Bowl, not Porcelain :) Stays lit, and little to no tongue bite.
Peter Stokkebye - PS2 Whiskey
I was expecting more Whiskey then what this Tobacco gave. It certainly has a great smell right out of the bag, but I was hoping for more Whiskey. Smooth smoke, burns nice. But lacks the initial taste.
McClelland - VBC - Vanilla Black Cavendish
This is one of the best Aromatics I've ever had so far! Great smoke, with a exceptional room note, and great taste. No tongue bite, very pleasant all day smoke. In fact I'm going out right now and strike up a bowl ;)
Orlik - Golden Sliced 50g
Nicely balanced. A sweet, and pleasant blend. One I always think about, in my regular rotation.
Newminster - No.23 Blackberry Brandy
I enjoyed Newminster No.23 Smells delicious. However not so fragrant when lit. Smooth smoke, and little to no Tongue bite. Would buy it again, and mix with others perhaps.
Borkum Riff - Cherry Cavendish 1.5oz
I liked this much better then Cherry Liqueur. Smoother, not as much Tongue Bite. Beautiful aromatics, and nice Room Note. Nice rich smoke.
Borkum Riff - Cherry Liqueur 1.5oz
Nothing like Cherry Cavendish, which I really like. The taste to me is somewhat bland. Nice Room Note, but gave me tongue bite down nearer to the Bowl. Perhaps it's unfair to rate it, till I have another try. Although opening , and smelling when first opened is ravishing.
