Dunhill - Early Morning Pipe
Easy Wake-Up Call
Simple, unpretentious, not overwhelming. I can see how this would be the perfect breakfast tobacco. These mid-range flavor blends don't appeal to me very much, I prefer the strongest taste possible, but this seems like a solid smoke. Try it in one of the mini corn-cob MMs. They seem well matched. *****EDIT: Finally tried this in the morning, just after breakfast. It was wonderful. Early morning pipe indeed. Added another star.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Latakia
Floral, Gentle, Beautiful
Smoking this straight was a pleasant experience: the tobacco lit easily and stayed lit, there was no bite, and the perfumey floral flavor was delightful. As a new piper, I'm making a point of trying the blending tobaccos and it has been a fun road to travel. I recommend giving this a shot if you have any interest in Latakia blends.

Cornell & Diehl - Izmir Turkish
Cedar and Spice
Lovely tasting tobacco, seemed to be mildly spicy with a nice cedar flavor on the snork. Ordering more soon.

McClelland - 5100 - Red Cake
Soft and spicy
This was an exceptionally warm and friendly tobacco that held a little bit of spice. A good smoke, I'm looking forward to mixing it with some Perique and seeing what happens.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Black Irish X
Nothing But Barbecue
There's an unmistakeable flavor of barbecue here. Nothing like barbecue sauce, not exactly meat or char. I'm not in love with this tobacco, the Brown Bogie rope is much better, but I'm sure there will be times when it'll end up back in my pipe. Quality tobacco, just not my thing.

Cornell & Diehl - Star of the East
Interesting, Tasty
This might be my first Latakia blend, and I'm definitely enjoying it. I've detected a bit of nuttiness under the floral blanket that covers this blend. It is very different from everything else I've smoked.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Brown Bogie
Strange and Beautiful
My palate isn't well trained, I'm new to pipes, and I'm generally not a fancy fellow. What I mean to say is that I can't give you a nuanced review. However, I'm happy to say that I love Brown Bogie. It is interesting to prepare, some people have been right in saying that it looks like something your cat might leave behind. The flavor is nice and full, perfect for a cigar man like me. Been using an MM with this, I may soon dedicate a briar to it.

McClelland - Blending Perique
Not So Tough
Perique is the reason I got into pipes; the tobacco sounded beautiful in every way, and I wanted to smoke it. Tonight, for the first time, I loaded a bowl of this Perique and puffed happily away. Now, I've been smoking a pipe for less than two weeks. I had been warned strongly that this was a condiment, not to be trifled with. It'll knock your teeth out and steal your wife! I found it very soft, inviting, even a little cute. Like a bunny wearing a sachet of good Telicherry Pepper around its neck. There was only a mild spice in the beginning, even that hint mellowed very quickly. The smoke was cool and dry, free of bite. Was a little hard to light at first, but still my best smoke yet. Can't wait to dig into the Perique from C&D!
