Samuel Gawith - Kendal Cream Flake 50g
This I remember!
This is an old favourite from older days. The topping is as I remember with a vabur with some strength. Just as damp as well. Too much drying makes it hard to break up so I rub this out first. A topping that pleases and a great smoke. Sweet and nick perfect!

Samuel Gawith - Navy Flake 50g
Not like it was.
I'm somewhat loath to ding old Sam but this blend is far younger than tins from the early 2000's. Not as dark in the tin and the topping is too motor oil like and not so rummy as I remembered. I realize tobacco sources do change or perhaps it is shipped younger to meet demand. I purchased St James Flake a few years ago and found it the same. Jarred up it is now almost black so I will do so with this and see. The lat is over powered by the industrial topping? I liked this a lot back in the day. Maybe my tastes have changed?

Cornell & Diehl - Steamworks 2oz
This is good!
Sneaked past customs! Very understated I get all the virginias and the perique is in the background. Retrohale gives that old Dark Star tang with a just right sweetness. The blender at C and D is world class. Great blend!

Cornell & Diehl - Sansepolcro 2oz
Tastes great!
Appeared after lunch today. The virginias stand out with a tiny sweetness, no bite and the darkfired sliding in behind. After taste makes you load another pipe right away. 2 tins bought with one sleeping for now. Different but equal to the Toscano blends.I may have to try the cigars!

Toscano - Sinfonia Flake 2oz
Sweet english.
Great sweet smoke although it kind asks for the lat to be replaced with more darkfired. A normal bowl size lasted well over a hour. Dry at the end but for me a more pronounced darkfired to showcase the cigar note would be better. Still very good.

Toscano - Concerto 2oz
2 Kinds of Smoke.
It struck me as similar to Bayou night with Perique leading. A barnyard smell. Upon smoking I found Darkfired interweaving with Latakia all the way down the bowl. Sweetness is very light to absent but it scratches the dark fired itch. Medium nic and a unique english. Wish I had bought more.

Peterson - De Luxe Mixture 50g
Understated.
tried this with low expectation and was very surprised to find an understated aromatic that tasted good. Nic is low but not absent. Tasted like the description and very pleased.

Cornell & Diehl - Big 'n' Burley
9 years
9 years ago I Purchased B and B. It was too strong in my opinion. I Had about 14 ounces and I Had a 14 ounce tub of Prince Albert. PA that was crackly but very mild nic wise. At the time I mixed and jarred the two together. I found it today and I'm finding it pretty darn good. No changes that I can tell except maybe mine because this 9 year old smoke is fab. Reccomended!

Warped - Midsommar 2oz
First smoke so....
Black pepper! Weird to taste but not unpleasant. Smooths out to a understated burley. The bright virginia is not biting but it is there. No rum taste. Nic medium and could use some jar time. may be better more bowls in . Not bad.

Peterson - University Flake 50g
Experiment #3
I have smoked this many years ago and I'm sorry to have waited so long! A fine smoke with a muted Rum Flake taste. A berry taste just floating above burley and virginia. It does not nic hit but I do smoke some heavy hitters . Perfect for an August afternoon. One year of age on the tin. Very nice.

Cornell & Diehl - Engine #99
8years aged
8 years in a jar and the lat has mellowed. Sweeter and the other components have moved forward. Except the perique for some reason it has vanished. It seems the ageing has worked. It is a fine smoke!

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Brown Flake Unscented
Lid Went Boom!
I opened a 7 year old jar and the lid blew off upon opening. This turned from very good to off the charts good in 7 years. Sweet bread virginias rounded by the burley. Top shelf smoke!

Peterson - Irish Whiskey 50g
St Patrick's Day
Today I've cracked a 7 year old jar! Very good but the whiskey has all but vanished. A later bowl will be paired to Killkenny Irish cream ale and maybe a glass of Jameson's.Still a grand smoke

Samuel Gawith - Grousemoor Plug 8oz
The good ghost!
Challenging to prepare but worth it. It will ghost a pipe so expect that to happen. I find the flavor helps other blends that are light so a good ghost for me. Richer tobacco flavors than the mixture. Some put away to age.

F & K - Lancer Ready Rubbed
Found treasure!
Looked through the cellar today and found A big jar of Lancers from 2015. My word this is a treat. The lat is laid back and the virginia is sweeter. a happy accident. Forgetfulness created this tasty smoke.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Rum Flake
7 Years On
Purchased some today and popped a 7 year old jar. The toppings are milder but still strong sweeter, deeper still my favorite smoke. I should be set for life on this blend although the rate it gets burned in my pipes?

Cornell & Diehl - Granulated Perique
Read reviews first!
Opened the bag and it made my eyes water. Smoked a small bowl and it is strong. I will use for blending. I should have read Old Timer's review first but the flavour is very good just to darn strong alone!

Sutliff - 507-S Stoved Virginia
Experiment #1
I'm trying this with granulated perique 2/3 stoved virginia 1/3 perique.Adds power and really a flavour overload of perique will experiment further with less. Now I understand Bayou night's smell. Wow tastes great but maybe too much. Stoved virginia is a winner for blending.

G. L. Pease - Triple Play 8oz
Ready rubbed wishes.
I struggle to prepare but it is worth the trouble. This blender has the master touch with all fire cured tobacco it seems. The dfk is just right. It is there but the virginias and perique lead with a more pronounced dfk but it never over powers, Good but would give more instant satifaction if it was ready rubbed.

G. L. Pease - Sixpence 8oz
Very good!
I found that Mr Pease uses dfk very sparing compared to other blenders. I get vaper with a backbone of dfk. It tastes stronger than the nic hit. It goes well anytime of day. C and D press their flakes perfectly. Stuff , fold the flakes burn proper every time. Whish I could smoke this every day. To many blends means you have to stop and breath sometimes. Good stuff.

Amphora - Kentucky Blend 1.75oz
Good morning!
This is the morning smoke i have been looking for. DFK with the edges shaved off . ODF for lunch. Bold Kentucky after dinner. I find this lighter in the nic and hints of virginia. All dayer.

Cornell & Diehl - Yorktown
mixer alone
great blend alonebut mixed with suttlif stoved virginia creats a sweeter blend.Ageing much potential

Cornell & Diehl - Strathspey 2oz
The Name Grabbed me
Rather light on the latakia Bready virginia An allday english sorry but I detect zero topping but all in all a pleasant smoke

Low Country - Natural Virginia & Burley
5 years old
It's been 5 years and it is sweeter, bready, A very good investment .Great mixer as well with Sutliff stoved virginia.
