Seattle Pipe Club - Plum Pudding Special Reserve Flake 2oz
I ended up with a ton of special reserve from a raffle. Having ever tried the regular plum pudding blend, I had no idea of what to expect nor any expectations for it to live up to. For the Balkan lover, this is a superb blend. All flavors are present while complimenting each other. The perique is there, but doesn’t try and kick your teeth out. I found it quite moist out of the tin and the flake took some extra care in rubbing out as it’s quite a stout cut. Overall, I may have found my new favorite.
Tampers & Tools - Rattray's Bone Chrome Satin Tamper
I love this thing. One suggestion though, get yourself a tiny O-ring from your local hardware store and add it between the body of the tamper and the screw out pick. I found mine easily unscrewed in my pocket. The o-ring provides enough counter pressure when screwed down to prevent this.
Lane Limited - 1-Q
It is what it is and is good at it.
A fine aromatic. It doesn’t promise to be anything else than that. Easier to smoke and enjoyable for others to be around. Burns on the hotter side, so judicious puffing must be employed.
Mac Baren - HH Bold Kentucky 3.5oz
One word: Wow!
This is truly something special. I don’t recommend starting your journey into pipe tobacco with this blend, but it’s definitely, as a destination, worth aiming for.
Peterson - Sherlock Holmes 50g
Dunhill Sherlock was the first pipe tobacco I ever lit and I fell in love with VaBurs because of it. When Peterson picked up the line, I was ecstatic. It is ever so slightly different, but brings back great memories just the same.
Cornell & Diehl - Mountain Camp
A good time!
(Update: after much contemplation over many bowls of MC, I now have to say this is an exquisite blend.) Bulk tended to be in the drier side, but an amazing smoke. Latakia makes itself known upfront, and the perique kicks in at the right amount to provide some excitement throughout the entirety of the bowl. Strong without being overpowering.
Peterson - 3 P's Peterson's Perfect Plug 50g
Truly a perfect plug
One of my favorite blends and an absolute perfectly pressed plug. Cellars extremely well, and ages like fine scotch, but is more than pleasant fresh from the tin.
