Davidoff - English Mixture 50g
complex, full-bodied, refined, balanced. davidoff makes great stuff.
Drucquer & Sons - Inns of Court 100g
good but not great
+ perfect moisture from the tin + thin ribbon texture is easy to handle and pack + smokes very easily and consistently, few relights o cigarlike main flavors with citric top notes + honest, unadulterated flavor; no sense of chemicals or adjuncts - lacking a little sweetness in the base to balance it - smokes a bit hot
Drucquer & Sons - Levant Mixture 100g
the moment i opened the tin i knew: This Is The One. the qualities are well described by others; i just wanted to add my 5 stars.
Fribourg & Treyer - 34th Mixture 50g
to the barricades!
+ intriguing mysterious & sophisticated tin aroma, notes of leather. + dry in the tin, but smoked dry and easily, so counting this as a credit. - lots of stems & twigs, poor QC? + as mentioned, smoked dry and consistently. - flavors of leather, black pepper, mustiness, burning tires. o decent nicotine; present, but not overwhelming. - somewhat bitey. 4/10 (spongia billiard)
Cornell & Diehl - Winchester
Swing and a miss
Despite a pleasant mouthfeel and a solid flavor foundation, something's amiss with this blend; some flavor that doesn't belong in tobacco, something reminiscent of pine needles or a convenience store car air freshener. One bowl was enough; into the bin it went.
