Cornell & Diehl - Folklore 16oz
Familiar Yet unique
Wife surprised me with one these and it is so far a rather impressive blend. Certainly worth the buy in of an entire pound. Experienced brothers of the briar know the risk that it involves buying a pound of something youve never tried. Flavor profile is pretty representitive of the description. A woody, citrusy, slightly smoky charachter. The underlying flavor very strongly reminds me of their Dreams of Kadath blend but a hair toned down on intensity and a little more woodsy. After all many of its Varietals you can find in this blend as well. Strongly recommend to any CD fans, I passed last years blend because I wasnt sure it would be worth it, but in glad my wife did it for me becasue its worth it.

H. Upmann - Herman's Batch Lonsdale
Classic - Yet unoriginal
Dont let the title fool you, this is a wonderful, flavorful, and consistent smoke. However, I rated it a bit lower than i wanted to because it does not distinguish itself very far from the run-of-the-mill Banker line. Flavor profile is very similar. But yet again worth the money, and the Lonsdale shape is always pleasant.

G. L. Pease - Temple Bar 2oz
Amazing
I saw the negative reviews and almost didnt go for it. However, im very happy i went through with it, its got amazing flavor of an earthy natural and smooth flavor. The best way for me to describe it is if you have ever had Salty Dogs by Dan tobacco, its alot like that but without the sweetness of the rum added in. It smells and tastes quite similar to Stonehenge flake by GLP as well sort of that same mushroomy, earthy character that it gives you. I highly reccomend and will be buying more in the future.

Cornell & Diehl - Rajah's Court 2oz
Good English
Im a person that struggles a bit when it comes to finding a good latakia containing blend. This one really is the Perfect english blend for me. Its got the right amount of latakia in it to make sure that it lets itslef be known, but isnt over powering. I highly recomend Rajas Court for anyone who is first getting into english blends, its a little more on the sweet side with the virginias, and really stays consistent throughout a bowl

Dan Tobacco - Salty Dogs 50g
Smooth sweet treat
A very pleasant and delightfully presented. This blend is a little less on the perique side and more on the Virginia side, I think if your a hardcore perique person this will not fulfill you, however when your in the mood for a nice navy style Virginia with a light runny sweetness this will be good for you. Very low tongue bite despite moisture and sugar content, and extremely pleasant middle of the road nuances that make for a good all day sailors smoke.

Cornell & Diehl - Byzantium
Wretched.
I hate to write negative reviews but here it is. This blend was absolutely aweful. I generally like Latakia but this stuff just didn’t do it, several different pipes and tried over the course of 4 months and every time I’d empty the bowl before even getting half way through. It has a terrible burnt rubber taste and No other nuance, honestly I’m almost thinking that I got a portion that had something wrong with it. But I would not recommend over many other C/D lat blends.

Cornell & Diehl - Comfort 2oz
Perfect intro Perique Blend
This was a surprise to me, a blend I probably would have never tried if not for my wife. The perique is very forward on flavor but somehow it’s less spicy than most perique focused blends. I HIGHLY recxomemd this one to anyone who likes perique, even the hardcore perique lovers will find joyous notes in this one.

Cornell & Diehl - Chenet's Cake 2oz
Good
Good little blend. It’s not the perique powerhouse it advertises though. I think that bayou night is a more prominent perique. However it is pretty tasty and the cake provides a very well married flavor that definitely is worth having. Like many of the other Cellar series blends I get a woodier note than most others.

Cornell & Diehl - Bourbon Bleu 2oz
Woody
This cake is a little misleading, it came rather dry and was more of a woodsy almost burley character to it. Very faint on the bourbon note, honestly probably a good thing, and not much in the way of perique. But ultimately I wouldn’t mind having it again, but there our other choices out there when it comes to the boozy flavors.

Cornell & Diehl - Strathspey 2oz
Perfect light Latakia blend.
I struggle finding Latakias that aren’t harsh or taste like burning rubber, but this one is certainly not the case. It has a perfect earthy and smoky flavor that is extremely well balanced and comforting. Just my opinion, this is a better smoke that even the famed From Beyond.

Cornell & Diehl - The Beast 2oz
New favorite
This tobacco quickly became an all time favorite, I like it so much I’ve even attempted to blend my own version as a replacement. It’s certainly powerful with the rum very slightly in the background. Definitely a positive vitamin N count, a little bit fruity with a nice clean burn. Wish I could always have some of this around.

Hearth & Home - Knotty Pine 1.75oz
Very Surprising
Very very good to say the least. With the Fusiliers Ration Special Reserve all dried up this description sounded like a good substitute. The aged crumble cakes like most Hearth and Home blends came pretty dry, but it’s flavors are very much reflective of an aged well balanced blend, not the Lat bomb I was expecting which is a very pleasant surprise but rather reminded me a lot of Mac Barnes Rustica Flake. I would strongly recommend this blend to those who enjoy those robust characteristics like Rustica and ODF.

Cornell & Diehl - Privateer 2oz
Sweet Cedar Love
Just a dash of lat. in the background to really compliment a beautiful woody cedar flavor. Very medium strength and easy to smoke. My favorite with coffee

Cornell & Diehl - Speakeasy Navy Blend 2oz
Familiar
It’s a good bit of tobacco for sure, however it’s almost identical to GL Windjammer, which is also a good tobacco. It’s sweet but slightly less rummy than windjammer as well.

Cornell & Diehl - Red Odessa
Blown away
This is very much a Balkan style blend (Hence the name) but there is something more to it. It has sort of a sweet red apple scent coming from the bag and an absolutely outstanding flavor. A little sweeter than others with just a little kick of Latakia, but light. I love it and will likely order more.

Cornell & Diehl - Innsmouth 2oz
Similar to Miskatonic
It’s quite similar to miskatonic mixture but a little more tame and a bit less musty. Makes a perfect daily blend, could use a dash more of perique, of course people are too stingy with the P word anyway, but I highly recommend this creepy abandoned fishing town style blend which will certainly leave you with...the innsmouth look

Cornell & Diehl - Redburn 2oz
Unique
A very unique blend, like a naval blend, but with some dark fired bite and smoke mixed in. Tasty and slightly sweet rummy notes, reminds me of Black Frigate but still quite different

Sutliff - Z88 Maple Walnut
Tasty
Taste like a maple pancake 🥞

Cornell & Diehl - Constellation
Very nice blend
This blend is very tasty. Very Latakia forward with a powerful tin note. I am quite the fan of black Cavendish with lat because it adds a subtle sweetness to the rich smoky blend. Might be a new cost effective replacement to some smaller batchlat blends. The black Cavendish has some course bits which is annoying, but still deserves respect

Cornell & Diehl - Mad Fiddler Flake 2oz
Mad flavor
To me the tin more is so dang familiar. Smells like a rich piece of chocolate cheese cake and dark cherry. Delicious flavor, a bit fruity (in a perique way) full unique flavor. Highly recommend to anyone seeking a fruity blend without smoking a goopy Aro.

Cornell & Diehl - Latakia 2oz
It’s Lat!
Good Latakia, bone dry though.

Cornell & Diehl - Carolina Red Flake with Perique 2oz
Good, but wanted more perique
This is a nice blend for sure, very well balanced although I would have liked to have seen more perique. Vastly different flavor profile from the straight red it’s mixed with, a good sign

Cornell & Diehl - Carolina Red Flake 2oz
As described straight forward and complex
Straight forward and complex is the best way to describe it, very pure flavor with wonderful room note and aroma. Zero bite, perfect humidity level, and very flavorful. Best Virginia yet in my opinion

Cornell & Diehl - Long Cut Perique
Exceptional Grade
This perique came at exactly the right humidity and smelled and tasted exactly as it should. Very good for adding bold flavor to any blenders project

Cornell & Diehl - Red Virginia Cavendish
Good. A bit dry
A good mellow blending component. Comes a bit too dry but useful

Cornell & Diehl - Dark Burley
It’s a good Burley
Good quality burley, Burns right, a bit nutty, and a good blender

Sutliff - 507-S Stoved Virginia
Perfect blender
I see straight leaf of any kind to be used mostly for blending purposes. It’s an amazing unsweetened cavendish style that gives a very sweet all natural taste to all of your blends.

G. L. Pease - Stonehenge Flake 2oz
Ultimate earthy treat
There is something sacred about this blend...very old and musty like the ruins of Stonehenge themselves. I get an odd floral scent coming from the to followed by dark earth tones. And the flavor is very unique and delicious, a strong musty earthy flavor upfront with an almost mushroom aftertaste, with a very gentle sweetness to finish. I love this blend, and it’s presented in beautiful flakes that I adore.

Cornell & Diehl - John Marr 2oz
Slightly sweet
Pretty basic with a slightly sweet flavor, Virginia’s very frontal and burns hot.

Cornell & Diehl - Espresso
Couldn’t smoke it straight
I actually ended up using this in a blend to add a faint coffee flavor to my mixture but simply couldn’t handle the goopy crackling mess by itself. The straight flavor is somehow very off to me. But it did as intended as a mixer so it’s not all bad but I’d avoid mixing it straight

Cornell & Diehl - Izmir Turkish
Ideal base blender
I was working on my own little alchemic mixture and used this as my base, very lovely and smooth with the upmost purity and quality. Scent reminds me a bit of tea leaves before being mixed.

Sutliff - 500 African Queen
A little odd but doable
Definitely a classic aromatic texture, pretty wet and needed to dry a while. I’m not a huge aro fan but this was nice, a unique amaretto flavor with it.

Cornell & Diehl - Black Frigate 2oz
Decadent Flavor
This is a very interesting tobacco. The best word is tasty, lots of flavors sweet rum and Virginia’s up front with a soft smooth Latakia on the back end adds the perfect amount of that delicious aroma we love. My favorite naval blend so far and will always keep some around, it’s a good choice for those that don’t want to go full English but don’t want goopy over cased aromatics either

Mac Baren - Latakia Rolls 3.5oz
Well balanced
As stated this is a very well balanced Latakia blend, it came out of the tin at the perfect humidity and the gently rubbed out coins lit flawlessly and tasted like heaven. The Latakia is very present obviously but well controlled in unison with the Virginia’s and is unusually smooth for a Latakia. It is supposedly aged for a few days in wooden crates and I want to say that you have a slightly stronger wood nuance than most blends. Overall very pleasant and will likely order more

Samuel Gawith - Skiff Mixture 50g
Mild and delicious
I’m not a huge Balkan style guy, but this stuff hits the spot it’s got the PERFECT amount of Latakia, this is something I enjoy while working or active and need a nice companion puff. It’s a very long ribbon cut that burns flawlessly and I’m happy I tried it

Cornell & Diehl - Miskatonic Mixture 2oz
Ritualistic heaven
This is a very unique and flavorful blend. The orientals and black Cavendish give a slight sweetness to a robustly earthy and very well balanced blend second in the series only to dreams of Kadath. Reminds me faintly of haunted bookshop but far superior. I will ALWays have this blend laying about my archives

Cornell & Diehl - Dreams of Kadath 2oz
Perfect
Favorite pipe tobacco ever, and I’ve tried hundreds. Very strong body with what feels like a high nicotine content. A slight grape-wine flavor with a sweet aftertaste but not overwhelming on flavor. Be warned, tin note is INTENSE but the flavor is perfect. Beautiful plug cut, I will smoke this blend the rest of my life if I can. The best in the old ones series too even though the rest are good too

Captain Black - Royal 1.5oz
Surprising
Not bad honestly, it bridges the gap between a light burley and a heavy aromatic cavendish, like the description says, it’s ridiculously light, zero bite, cool smoking. Kind of boring basic character, but consistent and slightly sweet, would be good for beginners or an everyday smoke without being too expensive. Worth having that’s for sure.
