Cornell & Diehl - Bailey's Front Porch 2oz
A delightful smoke
A very easy smoke to be sure. Great for a summer day (when heavier blends would be to much). Hints of campfires with the blend make it a wonderful accompaniment for my summer gardening. Which is great because it's an easy way to keep the mosquitos away.
Cornell & Diehl - Founding Fathers 2oz
A wonderful find
The first thing I noticed when I opened this was the fragrance. Sweet, with an almost berry like note. The cut is very fine, almost fluffy. It smokes very very smoothly, with a pleasant taste on the tongue.
Presbyterian - Presbyterian 50g
Quite an excellent tobaccoo
First tin of 2021 for me, and my first time smoking this classic blend. I've heard about Presbyterian for a while now, and finally picked some up. It certainly lives up to its reputation. On opening the tin the first thing I noticed was an almost fireplace aroma. The blend itself is lovey to look at, wonderfully long ribbons of gold and brown. I always make sure to smoke at least two bowls before considering how I feel about a blend... and just took my favorite pipe out for a stroll packed with Presbyterian. Very enjoyable on a frosty January afternoon, pleasant on the tongue, flavorful but not overpowering. I would best describe it as "classic" in profile... as it is very much what a pleasant smoke should be.
Cornell & Diehl - Golden Days of Yore 2oz
a mediocre blend
While not terrible I found this to be a bit underwhelming. For starters it was quite dry out of the tin, and my first bowl burned through very quickly. It's gotten a bit better since then, but still not great.
Cornell & Diehl - Autumn Evening 2oz
Delightfully True to its name
When I asked a facebook group for recomendations for Autumn this was one of the suggestions, and of the ones I tried probably the best. On opening for the first time I was hit with the smell of fresh cut hay, and from the first bowl onward it was a delight. I was a bit concerned about the maple, as I've often found things that say "maple" lean to heavily into the maple... but the maple here was, as described, very light. I'll certainly be ordering again when the leaves start to turn next year!
