Cornell & Diehl - Bayou Morning 2oz

This blend is by far my favorite non-english. The tin note is like a blackberry jam with a hint of hay. the cut is perfect for the moisture content, which is probably a 3 on a scale of 1-10. You do not have to worry about it crumbling to dust when you pinch some to stuff it in your pipe. First light is very bright with the aroma of a typical virginia. Flavor is similar with a grassy note, but just the slightest touch of raisin. After you've had a moment to let your charring light mellow out and you begin the true light you are introduced to a entirely new flavor on your pallet. While the grassy note is still front and center, the raisin flavor that you detected before is there, but taking a back seat to an incredible spice that I can only describe as cayenne pepper flakes. As you dive deeper and deeper into the bowl this favor becomes more and more prevalent (kind of like how spices open up in your foods better as leftovers than the first night the meal is cooked). Another great quality I have found with this blend is that it leaves no dottle. Maybe its because the tobacco burns a little hotter, or maybe its because of the dryness of the blend out of the tin, all I know is it must have something to do with Jeremy's masterful handling of this blend! Being a North Louisiana redneck myself, I do have a love for spice in my foods and women, but I was taken aback when I realized how much I enjoyed it in my pipe! This is my everyday smoke which I enjoy typically in the morning and after lunch while still on break. Give it a try! Or don't and you can save it all for me and my fellow VaPer brothers and sisters.
