Planta - Danish Black Vanilla 50g
Even better than before
Purchased the first time Jan. 22. Smoked one bowl, liked it. Put it up for 8 months and smoked it in a Peterson 999. Absolutely outstanding. This is now become my all day go to tobacco. You gotta try this one.

Drucquer & Sons - Prince's Blend 100g
Might need another try
Just received my tin today and couldn’t wait to try it. I believe my mistake was that I tried it in a brand new pipe. A little disappointing. It was a Ropp J04. Multiple re-lights and really no flavor to speak of. Perhaps I should of used an older Peterson or a GBD. So, I have put it up for now and will give it another go in 6-8 months.

Drucquer & Sons - Inns of Court 100g
A Winner
Purchased a tin last December and immediately opened it, lit up then the big let down. So I put it up for 8 months and tried again. This time it didn’t disappoint. Very nice flavor and absolutely no bite at all. The first bowl was in a Peterson Barley Prince, not bad. The second was in a mid 70’s GBD brandy, it was great. Will be buying more of this one.

Peterson - Connoisseur's Choice 50g
Not quite there
Purchased this blend a couple of months ago and when received I immediately had to try it. Somewhat of a disappointment, just didn’t have taste although the tin note wasn’t bad at all. Tried it again today and even though it was on the dry side it was actually a little better. Smoked it in a mid 70’s Peterson 313, the first time was with a Peterson Capt Pete I got off of eBay. I going to give it another go after I’ve hydrated it for a couple days and hopefully it will get even better.

Captain Black - Gold 1.5oz
Not!
Took chance on this one but maybe I shouldn't have. The tin note was ok but after lighting, it was down hill. Not much flavor at all. I did experience some tongue bite but not to level others have. I couldn't even finish the bowl. Even though I liked CB original and the dark, this one was a total failure. So I guess it will be left in the jar for a couple of years, mixed with something else or simply tossed out, which I'am leaning very heavily towards.

Sutliff - Creme Brulee
It got better
After reading mixed reviews I decided to give this one a go. First off the tin note is great. It was on the damp side, but not soggy or goopy. I smoked this in a mid 70’s MM, which by the way is one of the best smoking pipe I own. That said, the first few puffs, well let’s say underwhelming. Hardly any taste at all. It did burn well with only a couple of re-lights. Then about half way down some flavor appeared and seemed to get better and better. Very nice aftertaste. So all in all I have to say I did like it and will attempt another go with possibly a briar.

Sutliff - SPS-21 Black Vanilla
Really Good Wife Approved
IMHO this is a great tobacco. Very smooth, no bite, an all day smoke and my wife loves the aroma. And if you are looking for a nicotine hit, this isn't it.

War Horse - Green 1.75oz
Love & Hate
After many years I recently returned to pipe smoking. My usual blends are black cavendish and vanilla. But having stepped out of my comfort zone, I tried Bengal Slices and loved it. So, I tried this one and loved the taste but hated the huge nicotine hit. It was like someone snuck up me and cracked my with a baseball bat. Got very nauseous and let’s just say it was a very bad few hours that followed. So new pipers please use caution with this blend. Really good but packs a pretty heavy punch.

Captain Black - Dark 1.5oz
Pleasantly surprised
My son gave me 4 Captain Blacks for Christmas and the Dark I have never tried. I started the pipe in the mid 70’s and the CB cherry was my first and last, the bite was over the top. But the Dark is, in MHO, one of the tobacco I have tried. Maybe I just got lucky with this OTC blend or perhaps it was because I smoked it in a mid 70’s Peterson, in any event I really liked it. I will actually recommend this one.
